Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

There is some light from across the street on the top corner of the greenhouse - enough to make a slight shadow. The only other thing I can think of is that they came inside over Father's Day weekend while we were away, but were not exposed to light as far as I can remember. There may be other lights from the back neighbor that just weren't on tonight. Yes - we will just have to wait for harvest. Still looking better than last year!

Ah....it was when you brought them inside. That's what did it. If they weren't exposed to light for a couple days and then went back to 10 hours of darkness that's the trouble right there.

The light on the greenhouse "might" be a problem, but not nearly as much as bringing them inside without light!

Hi doc, been checking your journals out and your brix system looks awesome. I was wondering if you ever heard of potters gold soil. I live in michigan and this company called pottersgold.net sells this soil and he sais it's the ultimate soil to use. Wondering if you could check the website out let me know what you think. They give all the specs on it. Claims no bugs....

I checked it out....love the guys philosophy.
I couldn't see any specs....other than a list of ingredients.

It might be fantastic soil, but I don't know if it's suitable for High Brix without getting a soil test.

They were in an upstairs white bathroom shower with a skylight right above. May have had more light there than in the "birthing" greenhouse where they had been up until then. Maybe just a change in their environment.

Doc, if you have a moment, what do you think of these dying fan leaves? This is in kit soil. Harvest will be sometime end of this week I think. A friend said either over fert, or microbes ate all the food.

I was thinking it's just on its final leg. Bud leaves look good and buds, well they are quite nice.

Thanks doc!

If you're a week from harvest I wouldn't worry one little bit.

It's really hard to say what it is. You're outdoors in small pots, correct?

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

You got it doc. I'm not worried. I will use bigger pots next time! I think that it likely the cause of unhappy leaves, but I expected them to yellow and go anyway...

Thanks doc! I'm so excited can't wait to tell you the wonders of brixified ganja!

I think you'll enjoy it!

Smaller pots really restrict.....if you're outdoors I'd go with 25 gallons at a minimum. Once all the soil has been eaten up, the roots can't really keep up with growth up top....and I think that's what you're seeing.

But, like you said, the flowers look nice. Let me know how it turns out!

Man Doc that is some top quality cannabis right there :high-five:

That OG looks pretty happy so far :)

It's happy! And when I rub the stem I've got the OG smell.

In really high brix it just goes full sativa on me, gets too tall, has wispy buds and doesn't have that funky smell we've all grown to know and love. Brix is steady at 12....no bugs yet.

I don't think there are too many strains I would do this with.....but OG is such a classic. If you can't grow OG, something's wrong!

On the other hand, the Herijuana just LOVES high brix. It stretches out, gets twice as tall, yields more and has a much better effect in high brix than in regular soil. Same with Lemon Paki.

If I can get the old OG flavor AND keep brix at 12 or so, I've think we've got a winner!

On another note, I've had to wait 2....even 3 weeks for roots on OG clones in the past. High brix in veg yields high brix clones....and the damn things root at least twice as fast as regular cuts of OG I've worked with the past.

So it's high brix in veg and moderate brix in bloom for OG. (with lots of sulfur and mag.)

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I noticed an obvious no-brainer difference between my brix and non-brix clones. The ones from a high brix mother never seemed to notice they'd been separated. No leaf ever sagged, no fading - it was startling.

Do you test brix in veg, Doc? The few times I've done it, I get numbers around 10.

Hey GT! I take measurements every time I prune, which is usually twice in veg, twice in bloom. 10-12 is about right for veg. Higher numbers can't be achieved until the plant's metabolism and respiration speed up during bloom. 10 is really good and you should notice the vigor on the clones with a 10.

That is the prettiest clone there sir. I am glad I stopped in. I was beating myself up for not being able to maintain things looking happy(not using kit), but now that I read the comments about the pot size (I am in 7gal outdoors) I realize that if I can get these to finish flowering I am doing just fine.
:thanks:

7 gallons is borderline for indoors.....it's way too small outdoors! If you can harvest good bud from a 7 gallon pot outdoors, you've got skills, patience and lots of spare time to water and feed! :cheertwo: You'll be MUCH happier outdoors with a 25 gallon pot.

Always a nice stroll through the pages here. beautiful pictures and a wealth of knowledge always shared in a clean and concise manner.

Thank you docbud and reps are always ordered

Thanks brutha! And congrats on MOTM win!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Do you possibly have that call to arms dvd? I think international ag labs made it.

I might just have that....I'm pretty sure I've got a DVD from them, not sure what it is. Should be on the bench in the "lab," where the reference material is strewn about. I'll rummage through it tomorrow and get back to you.

I've got some really nice Herijuana I'm tokin' on.....definitely doesn't make me smarter....but goofy/happy and VERY optimistic....pretty interesting.
