Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Keeping the veg questions going..
Since I'm growing outdoors and don't have the option of flipping the sun to bloom when I want to what kind of water to drench schedule should be fallowed
I've seen bloom schedule posted but can't remember seeing one for veg

Wait till there are 5 sets of "true" leaves before using any foliar spray.
Straight water with 1/4 strength Transplant until 5 sets of leaves.....then you can drench.
Water inbetween feedings.

Good questions.

Thanks!

So every time I water I use 1/4 strength transplant until 5 sets of leaves then growth energy --- transplant --- growth energy....and use 2.5ml tea with every drench. Watered evenly to 6 one gallon pots.

From what I have read all your measurements for each product is not per gallon? How much water on average do you guys use to water 6 one gallon pots?

Thanks!

It depends on how dry the pot is....

I you use the dunking method, you can do 6 pots in 2 or 3 gallons of water.

Thanks!

The way I use the Tea and Drenches is based on the amount of soil in use. That 2.5 ml of Tea is for the full kit (40-50 gal. soil). I'd probably use about 0.5 ml of Tea for six 1 gal. pots. YMMV.

I just did a drench today. Doc is right on the money (big surprise) :cheesygrinsmiley:. It takes me roughly 1/3 of the soil volume in water to fully soak a container. A 1 gal. pot takes about 1.5 qts. and my 7 gal pots take about 1.5 gal. That means when I get to the 25's, I should need about 8 gal. of water per plant with each drench!

I'll chime in as this stuff is pretty useful for new folks and myself to keep in mind.

My 1gal girls have been fed 4x, 10-11 days apart (probably 24-36 hours too long, i let them really wilt, but it wasn't really on purpose, they handled it fine though).

1. Transplant drench with tea at time of upcan from solo cups

2. Transwater

3. Transwater

4. GE Drench/Tea

They have consistently used 5-6 gallons each time for 12 plants, using a dunk method. For this method I keep a resevoir of food, and add it to the bottom of each dunk bucket that I place a plant in. This way when I get to the last 2 plants, they are still receiving undiluted clean fresh food water.

Here's the survivors as of today:

OK - while we're on the subject. This is what I do for my 7 gal. pots. I only have two plants in HB right now. I no longer dunk them - too heavy and no bucket handy that fits around them. I use saucers under the pots when I drench.

First I add about 1 gt. water to the saucer. Then I mix up 1 gal. of whatever the drench is I'm going to use. By the time I'm done with the mixing, the saucer is dry - the water has been wicked up by the soil. Next I add the gallon of "drench" over the top of the soil. Now I go grab another qt. to 1/2 gal of water and add it SLOWLY to the top of the soil. As soon as I see any water in the saucer again, I stop. After about 5 minutes, more water has made its way down through the soil and the saucer is full. I let it sit that way another 5-10 minutes. Finally I remove the pot and let it drain. I think this gives me complete saturation of the soil but without a lot of waste, and it is quick and easy.

-EDIT-
Nice cola, Doc! Holy cannoli (canna cola).

One other thing I forgot to mention:

I've got a friggin spider (not spider mite, but real spider) infestation in the room, so I added a No Pest Strip to see if I can avoid welts on my neck and arms.....You can see it in the picture below.

Those who have mites/thripes and the like: this is a quick and dirty (and safe) way to get rid of them quick. Put it out for a few days and then put it back in a plastic bag and save it for next time.

Yup. That is the plant that kicks my ass every single time I try to grow it! That thing was 4 inches tall when it went into bloom!

4"?
How long has it been in bloom?

Ok, you're saying that this plant was put in bloom 5 weeks ago and only 4" tall?!!?

Theres gotta be some confusion?!

Admittedly that plant in the picture may be 12" I guess I can't tell the scale...how big is it? It looks 4-5'?!

That plant is just under 5 feet tall, and yes it was bloomed at 4 inches and it hasn't been in there longer than 6 weeks, most likely 5 weeks.

It's Willie Nelson! That's just how it grows for me.
