As soon as platinum gets back to me mass I'll let you know.
I'm not looking for a high yielding or big tent. I just want the Leds separate from regular room so I can have a true comparison so if I buy two p600s or one 12.
I have a 15x15 bloom room so I'd need like 10-14 p1200's in there is my guess. That's a lot of cash I must see results first before I use it. Pictures and there claims intrigue me but my growing experience under a test light will make my mind up. To be honest I wouldn't even consider if doc wasn't using I'd continue to chuckle.
Here's how I'm looking at the entire LED thing:
1. They work. Really. The P1200 is a direct replacement for a 1000 watt HPS....except it works better.
2. They require less cooling so many folks can ditch the cooling fans and enjoy a less stressed-out AC and the electric bill that come with it.
Those are the Pro's
The con's are as follows:
1. Durability. We simply don't know how long they last and how often they break. How will these lights hold up under foliar spraying, sulfur vaporizer, etc. This is a huge issue for the large hobbiest on up to the professionals. It's harder to re-hang an entire light over a full tray than to change a bulb or ballast.
2. Economics. The lights will only pay for themselves via savings on the ebill if they last long enough! Also, replacing a bulb or ballast with HPS is pretty cheap compared to shipping a light back and/or paying for a replacement LED. How long do they last? I don't know! I'm using them right now with no trouble, but it would take a year or more of continuous use to break even....longer to get ahead.
3. Quality of produce. How do they stack up against the new double-ended HPS like the Gavita, which are less expensive? ( I have concerns about the Gavita and foliar sprays too, as they have an open bulb)
But if it's quality you're looking for, the newer LED's will definitely deliver. There's just more to the picture for folks like me or especially folks like you, Dutty.
Reliability is my greatest concern. Quality isn't an issue, expense isn't an issue AS LONG AS THEY'RE DURABLE in the garden environment.
