Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Well that's a shame... I will let them get a root system started then transplant them to the 1 gallons once they start asking for it. Do you think I should be spraying with De-Stress more than 2 times a week?

I have two 1-gallon pots of soil with holes ready to go for seeds. They are currently soaking, will take them out at 5 tonight (24 hours) and pop them into the HB soil. Blueberry and Berry Bomb, should be fun. Excited to see their growth compared to my clones growth.

Getting the taproot colonized with myko will cause your seeds to kick ass over the clones in coco.

Not only does coco's CEC not work worth shit, making HB impossible, but myko doesn't grow properly either. It's a neat medium for sterile salt growing, but it sucks for biological growing.

I do not recommend using coco with my kit!

Haha thank you Doc and Dutty for keeping me on track. Won't clone into Coco anymore if I'm transplanting into HB. Probably going to stop using it altogether because you're right.. I used half of each of my FF bottles on my Purple Elephant. Buds were beautiful and growth was insane but not worth the money.

One of the many reasons I am excited to get growing in Doc's kit.

Coco=dipshit grow method.

The properties are good for wicking/draining but the CEC is horrible! It's simply not possible to grow well in coco....despite people with green plants who think they are doing great. They're not.....they just don't have anything to compare to.

Will coco work with salts? Yes...but still not as good as peat moss and perlite. Stay away from coco.

I believe it. Coco was very work intensive, and my buds were very large but I'm sure they could have tasted much much better. I already knew it would be less expensive to grow in soil (especially with your kit) and once I have some good medicine to compare too I'm sure I will be totally convinced.

Within a few weeks I should have 4 pretty decently sized HB plants. Can't wait to finish this first HB grow. Thanks for all of your help and advice Doc.

In preparation for a grow with Doc's Kit (is that the official name) I am thinking of buying a large black 110 gal watering bin made from recycled materials, heavy duty, used for cows and horses etc. to mix and cook the soil. Its large in case I want to mix enough for all my current mothers and the 6 plants that I will be growing in the HB soil. My future may be that I grow on a larger scale anyway  I can stand and use a hoe or small rake to mix instead of bending over. In smaller uses I can have soil piled on one side and the pots I am filling on the other, less mess.
It does not have a covering lid but I was thinking of using some extra Panda Film/plastic I have, maybe cut it into the oval shape of the bin and lay it over the soil with a brick or two to help keep the air out.
Doc does the cook require an air tight seal? Or can I just cover it without worrying about the extra air gap between the soil and the top rim of the container? :)

The bins most of us use have snap on lids that allow the water to condense and fall back on the soil but they're not actually air tight. I could imagine air tight being problematic but not positive.

You want some air exchange....not air tight, covered is fine.

LMAO My girl just woke up from her second nap of the day - its 3:45 PM - and says, "Now that's how I like my mornings to go." With a big smile on her face. So now she's bakin' for the fourth time of the day! lol :)

So I've got 4 phenotypes of Colombian Red (Punto Rojo) in bloom right now. I'll get pictures of these tomorrow. But I thought I'd just share a bit about them and how I"m looking at growing them.

The first pheno was the fastest plant to show sex. It was topped in veg at the second true node and now has 4 co-dominant tops. Interestingly, the nodes are not yet alternating, but the pistil on the pre-flowers are large and easily seen. The stems on this pheno are the weirdest things I've ever seen. They're thick around, like a Sharpie towards the base and like a pencil towards the top and they're hollow and stiff as can be. I've never seen a plant like this before, but it's as healthy as can be.

The next pheno is similar, but the stems aren't as thick and the leaves are shaped a bit differently. The nodes are starting to alternate on this one.

The third pheno has normal, strong woody stems and alternating nodes for a while now. It's not quite as tall as the first two.

The final pheno is short, with thick strong stems....but not freakish like on the first pheno.

Each have a very interesting smell that I can't quite put my finger on....but it brings back very happy summer evenings from my youth. I haven't had this stuff since the 1970's.....and the plants look amazing.

Pics tomorrow!

Is it ... lime ... ? :cheesygrinsmiley:
Hmmm....maybe. But not quite.

More like the smell brings back good memories, like the first time I heard Hotel California when it was a single; or listening to Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who and Bowie albums for the first time or for the 4th time at the beach one night.

Or like seeing the Millenium Falcon go into hyperspace for the first time in the theatre back when it was Star Wars and it was just one cool movie.

I ramble....just smoked a joint of 14 week Champagne. I'm feeling real good.

I've begun to associate lime with Brazilian, and the Brazilian high reminds me of the Columbians I used to have. The smelll ... not so sure. It's like you say - there's a certain smell from those days. But I was surprised to get the lime from several Brazilians. :cheesygrinsmiley:
