Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

We need some advice, Doc. :cheesygrinsmiley:

A few of us are growing Ace Panama this round and DrZiggy asked me when I thought the best timing for Cat drench would be. This strain grows very small calyxes in abundance in the early bloom phase and then bulks them up into knobby tops.

Would Cat drench or GE produce more calyxes in early bloom? Would you do the drench early or late on a pheno like that? My first instinct was a later drench to sync with the swell, but maybe it would be better early, to increase the number of calyxes ...

Do you like red or green salsa on your burrito? :smokin2:

It's hard to say because things aren't always mechanical with how the plants act, but if the strain tends to grow knobby, swollen masses of calyxes, I'd C-drench right on time and then bulk them up with Growth Energy. I love buds that look like some radioactive berry, with nothing but calyx and very few pistils.

That's exactly what I'm hoping to accomplish with the buds seen above. You can already see the pistils retreating and now if I can get the swelling going the buds will look like green, sticky, thick roses in a couple weeks.

Good God Doc! Take my breath away.

Lord have mercy, Doc....just a stupendous grow....and fabulous picture taking.....

I came to humbly report on the chop of my first high brix grow...I went by the book, Doc, didn't tweak, marked it all out on my calendar and it was like watching paint dry....in a good way....no worries....while I worried and fretted for naught, the plants thrived....and bloomed and produced fruit...

My second grow has begun...I am in a legal state and acquired a legal patient, so I'm going from 5 plants to 24 this run....with high brix....have made contact with Curso, in my state....

Anyway, Doc, cheers, thank you,

Great to hear! Let me know when you need things and we'll do bulk this time. Save mucho dinero.

My plan exactly.....:high-five:

Doc Bud, your journal has just been hacked and I reported to the Mods.....FYI, peace...

he's hacked you again and I reported...

Excellent! I was just getting ready to track you down to see if you'd harvested. Kuddos on the increase in garden size. Way to go girl!:thumb:

Sweet Sue, I'm trying to grow commercial here, or perhaps more like Doc Bud would say....boutique...I have a tiny bit of property with some buildings....why not...you should see my outside landscape and gardens during the summer time girl.....I've grown on rock hard Cali soil when I just built up from there and grew mums as wide as my arms can spread in a circle...wish we could meet for coffee or tea...

Boutique is going to be the only freedom in the marketplace, so it's a wise choice. I ran Dale's tattoo studio for years and we did it our way. You came in to visit and got a tattoo while you were there. Very homey and relaxed and very boutique. We never undercharged because we needed the money. We insisted that you respect the quality of his/our work (I did artwork) and pay a fair price. We never got rich, but that had more to do with his failing health. I like boutique. I think you'll be quite good at it Shawnee.

Maybe someday we'll have that cup of tea together. Stranger things have happened in my life. In yours too, I suspect.

Yep, what I call going around the block a time or 2 or spinning around the turnstile.... which did you prefer.....

Greetings to Doc and his Army of high brix growers,

I have spent months reading various journals on this 420 website and stumbled upon Doc's teachings. I feel I have earned the equivalent of a masters degree in growing by soaking up every word of both Doc and all of you high brix growers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, each of you.

I am one to research and plan before I leap. As yet, I have not thrown one bean in the dirt, but I will be buying a kit in the very near future and get it cooking before I begin my first fall grow. Your concepts are the only way to go.

It is intimidating trying to put the list together of everything I will need, getting my rooms set up, etc. What all of you have done for me is create a roadmap of not only "how to" but "how to do it right the first time and kick some serious butt".

I have a horticulture background and your principles are right on the money. All of your pictures prove the concepts are sound by the lush, healthy greenery and frosty deliciousness. What more does one need? Your proof is served up in all of your pudding for all the world to see.

Word of mouth is indeed the most potent and powerful means of communication. I want to shout from my roof top out here in the rural country how great the high brix method is, even though only the wildlife will hear me.

Thanks to all of you and cheers!

Look at me Doc and now after my first harvest....Jesus god, Doc, cheers....

Do you have any pictures? I'd love to see what things were like. Did you get the "shine?" How are the smells and flavors, structure of the buds, etc?

I'm really curious, because I've seen a handful of first time growers just absolutely nail it on their first try and.....well, it makes me happy to know I helped them do it!

Guys, I just chopped on Wednesday....but followed Doc's guidelines to the max.....am going from 5-12 plants right now...okay....bring it on...

Doc, I followed you for a year...then took the plunge....it was perfection....and I have pics.....I washed the buds too.....a new grow shop opened around me....20 year grower....told him about your bud washing...then I came in this week and he said...I'll never not wash my buds...the water was so dirty....I've been smoking shit all these years...he slapped me on the back, shook my hand and thanked me..

It made my day...

hey Doc this is kind of a noobish question but im just getting into soil recipes and i'd like your input on this if you don't mind.

i have immediate access to:

peat moss
vermiculite
perlite
coco

im growing with nutrients right now so im looking for a good soil recipe combining just what i mentioned to have control of the procedure through liquid nutrients, at what ratio should i mix it up to get a good base ?

i was thinking:

50% peat moss
20% vermiculite
20% perlite
10% coco

how would you go with it?
