Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Yep....too much drench without water in between would certainly cause nitrogen excess. That's why I recommend to not do that! :high-five:

I wouldn't do anything about it at this point. Just give it water and 1/4 strength transplant for a week or two until the new growth is all sorted and move ahead.

I don't do that foliar flush short of an emergency as it lowers brix and invites all kinds of problems. I'd only do it if I really, really screwed up.

Thx Doc:rasta:

Doc, whats your opinion of taking flash photos of the plants? While theyre in their dark phase or turn off lights for min in light phase?
I would be concerned the flash throws off the dark phase.

Also, im repeating a question.. How deficient are plants in lets say Mg, before they show signs and symptoms of defiencies?
Thank you.

I take flash photos all the time.

RE magnesium, our plants aren't really deficient, more like running ahead with bloom so fast and furiously that they get ahead of themselves and digest a few fan leaves. Perhaps this is the plant's way of defoliating itself?

We always want to be flirting with a mag deficiency, IE slight taco, bright, light green leaves on some strains, etc. But we don't want it to be a deficiency because there isn't enough magnesium! The soil has plenty of magesium in the right ratio. We just want to show a draw on the fan leaves when bloom is going ahead full steam.

Ok, I have to ask. I look at the pictures of the HB plants and I can sense an energy. Do you perceive an increased energy around your plants? That's an open question. I'd like to hear many perspectives, if you please.

Absolutely yes. They move real fast too, especially when young. If you orient them opposite what they're used to you can literally watch them bend back to the light when things are really on point. The color is super bright, leaves are shiney, and they "vibrate" at what I perceive as at a higher rate.

They have a glow to them... I can watch them for hours..

I still feel a sense of awe when one of these HB plants is thoroughly tuned into the soil, with that amazing waxy shine on the perfect fans, and the vivid lime green glow in the new growth. The speed of growth can be startling. I get a vision of a frantic factory down below, all the biota scurrying around, desperately trying to process and deliver everything the plant is sucking up, while above, this majestic structure rises and unfolds leaf by leaf. :cheesygrinsmiley:

And me, I'm King of the Biota, my own Despicable Me. :laughtwo:

I'm sure it's not just High Brix - everyone gets a plant or two like that - it's just a lot more likely in HB. :thumb:

Some of my "high brix" plants were treated very badly ("i never tested brix). I didn't think they would be as potent, except for the trichs being produced despite the environment. They didn't look as good as others I had grown with other soils grown in a better environment (my bubblegum was pretty though). Harvested early because I'm moving. Still the high brix bud was and is decievingly strong, even if they are sticky, sparkling, beautiful buds. There seems to be some magic!

Have you hung out for long enough to hear them grow? They'll flick as the tension releases - leaves brushing past each other - elbowing through. The rooms I have now are too small to sit in and listen.

That's the way it was a lot of the time with my grow. Especially towards the end there they almost vibrated with energy. You saw it! Hmmm. How to make it better? Because yours had more energy going on than mine.

You mean like this? :cheertwo: :high-five:

Next day although it took me longer to get the camera back out then it did for her to straighten out probably no more than 2 or 3 hours if I remember right, was a while ago :blunt:

plants look healthy as can be SMF

Yours too doc!

Thanks bud! They have both been harvested at this point but they smoke quite nicely. The smaller plant in the front got re-vegged and is doing great. :thumb:

Good day Doc,Gang and the rest of the 420 family! it's been quite a while since Doc and myself had the talks on electrical safety and concerns you all might have . At this time i'de like to contribute a little more than some pics and chit chat....I feel blessed by all the great people on this site and all they contribute on a daily basis. Just a reminder that I've bin a Journeyman Electrician since the late 80's.
Please ,if any one of you have any electrical issues, problems or general concerns,do NOT hesitate to ask, please. From being around here for almost two yrs, now I've come to learn that most of our members are pretty bright people and may not feel the need to ask that silly question on their electrical systems.....ask......it may save your life,or someone elses some day. Questions can be on anything from G.R. electrical demands to lighting contactors and hook-ups.Remember that show "Hill Street Blues" at the beginning of the show when that one cop giving the morning briefing used to always say....."be carefull out there". Please gang, we all don't want to find out how one of us got hurt really bad or killed doing something that could have easily been prevented. Sorry to sound like a grade school teacher, but I feel we all care and want to see us all doing this for a very long time......have a great night my 420 family.......Duggs.:circle-of-love:

One simple answer that would help everyone, Duggs ...

What is the continuous load limit %? On a 15 amp 120V circuit, we're safe with how many watts? I've read 80% for 1440 watts and 60% for 1080 watts.

:hmmmm:

Ya Gray....continuous would be right around and as close as you can to 13Amps. People think because the cir. breaker says 15 ,they can draw that.....wrong ,very dangerous.Never load a 15 a breaker to 15 amps...it will put a great strain on your household wiring.I recommend running a designated (own) circuit as well from the panel. Try not to use existing rec's. and wiring....cuz you r not sure how good a shape it's really in.I' could go on and on Gray!Another good practice is to just say 1000w /120v circuit. Ive seen fires started in rec's. and panels cuz too much of a load was left alone on an older system....maybe had loose joints or damaged wiring that was ok for 2-300w. but not when you all of a sudden want it to provide 13amps !Hope that helps !.....Duggs.

dugg can you clear up this probably simple repair for me. My mars lamp sparked like crazy from the power-in socket. i told sara about it and she sent me replacement parts. when i opened the case to make the repair i see that the wires that attach to the power-in plug were burnt off. Im not sure which goes on which post. There ia a red a black and a white.Am i correct in assuming that the white goes to the ground center pole? Should the red go to the right post, does it matter?

Lastly when i reconnect the power is there any precautions i should take to avoid repeat fireworks?

Good on ya for being vigilant about something as important as this. It would SERIOUSLY be so upsetting to find out someone injured or killed themselves just trying to grow some Ganja ):

I actually have a quick question I'm sure you could help me with! I am gonna send a PM your way as not to get off track here, thanks a lot for offering the help and advice. +reps
