Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

The BT, to my understanding won't be effective with aphids. They are geared to gnats. Aphids require one of Mother Nature's power hitters - garlic. Plant a clove on each pot. Watch the aphids run away. Alternatively, a foliar spray of chopped garlic, soaked for 24 hours and strained. Be forewarned - this WILL work, but your home will smell like an Italian restaurant for days. Planting the cloves is less smelly and actually more effective.

Hope that helps.

And thank you Doc, for reminding me that I've forgotten to do the dunks regularly. Starting tomorrow.

Root aphids!

I'm currently NOT in an organic/HB grow. These little !#$@% were with the clones I got and just about wiped out my babies. From what I've read they are insideous and nearly impossible to completely get rid of w/o going the nuclear route. I don't use systemics or anything that kill bees, ladybugs and other beneficials. My concern is they will follow along to my next (HB) grow. They laugh at BT.

I'm looking for are two products: a foliar and a drench to use in concert with Doc's HB kit in order to give my upcoming (indoor > outdoor) grow a fighting chance. Has anyone found a good solution, and had success wiping them out? I know HB plants are stronger and able to withstand pests, but I'd like to give them every opportunity to thrive by getting rid of these badies, while not damaging the microherd.

There is no good source locally for predatory nematodes, but if it is the best way to go I'll check into ordering some.

If you need to go nuclear, use Merit 2F

Do a search. It's good on fruit and nut trees.....I'd wait at least 30 days before putting plants into bloom.

They don't laugh at BT....it takes time to work. Mosquito dunks in the water supply!

I've been using BTi. I also have BTk but haven't tried it since it is designed only for caterpillars. I don't have access to the other strains. I'm hoping it works but from the reading I've done, BT doesn't control aphids. Even the manufacturers who make and sell BT don't list aphids as one of the pests they control. I hope they're wrong. Time will tell. I should know by the time this grow is over. I have a dunk in my water and also have some granuals scattered over the surface of the pots so some of it works down into the medium when fed/watered.

Well, Merit 2F will kill them. Malathion will also probably work. Both are "safe" if you believe the makers of pesticides when they say their products are safe...

Pyrethrin also works but takes multiple applications. I doubt you'll have these problems in HB.

OK .....this Root Aphid thing. Forget it ! Had em....tried everything. When crop was harvested (very little) plants were pulled out with NO effort....roots were gone. What they do is chew thru big feeder legs of the roots. The ones that circle the pot.One reason i switched to Rootbuilder pots. Alot of nursery's in EU. use em. No circle pattern of the root mass. Roots have alot more access to fresh air along with other benefits. You can spend alot of time trying alot of diff. things ,wondering if they'l work and be stressed over it.Chuck it ....it's the only sure way.Sorry just my 2. Cheers eh ....goin for a Stella.:tokin:

Pics.

Also, a pictorial of a mid-veg pruning AND a pre-bloom pruning. Brix levels are read at this time normally, but I was too pressed for time today. I suspect they're right about 12 in the veg room. 11/12 Colombian up and healthy. I think #12 might pop up later tonite...not sure. But I'm happy with 11/12!

BioShark Dislike. 10ml on a liter of handwarm water, spray the fuck out of both underside and top of leaves. Be generous. Treat soil as well by applying a lot on that as well. Repeat after 2 days.

Did this a week ago, havent seen any since. It is bases on neem oil and other oils. Organic.

Doc.....help! I tried germing the way you said with soaking the seeds for 24 hrs. then planting.....no luck now with two seperate batches of seeds. First time i've ever had problems.I'm fuckin pissed to the limit about it all. How come my seeds won't come up ??So far three Mazar's and now three Desfrans have failed to come up using this method. Now i'm behind schedule and i'm out of money to re -order seeds again. The seeds were planted in second run soil that i use all the time to start seeds so i know it's ok ,i think! The seeds seem to split then die shortly after ....what gives ? I don't have the time or money to keep trying them like this. Can you offer some insight, info etc? Thanks ....Duggs.

I had the same problem. I lost 15 straight seeds. I finally got them to germinate when I quit putting roots powder in the hole. I don't know if it was coincidence or not. I just went with HB soil, no roots powder and then they all came up. They came up within 36 hours of planting after soaking the seeds for 12 hours. When I did that I went 6 for 6.

Hey Neiko....thanks man.....but Doc. says to sprinkle a little roots in the hole then gently water in.....what gives....too late for all those seeds though eh...pissed man. Pulling my fuc...in hair out over this .I'm way behind schedule now and that's not good. I'm forgetting the roots.....this is B.S. dude!! I've never had problems before ...in 25 fuckin yrs. If roots is the problem then why is it suggested to use it if there is a chance it could fuck things up? Dunno....not happy....also had a very bad day ,so to come home to this .....well you know!

I feel your pain. I'm not saying it definitely the roots powder lm just saying when I quit using it they came up. My seeds were disappearing too. I thought the soil was too hot and eating them but Doc said no. I guess they were germinating and then dying, not sure though but I am sure there was never any seed to be found.

Soak them for 12 hours bro or until they sink. The soil in my tub was to hot for the beans, but I have had no issues with roots and promix. 10-12 hour soak a not so deep hole with roots a little bit of heat. No worries plants in a week...

Hey Curso, so am I to understand you reccomend germinating in promix and roots, not HB dirt and roots?
