Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Well well well take a look at this. More bullshit

First milk the frontline communications flunkies for as much info as you can get, contradictions and all. Then when they've finished "dealing with you", take what you got to the people who really understand what's at stake.

You're gonna get a fast PR brushoff, so you'll need some ammo.

Yep. My thoughts exactly.

Hi xxxxxx

I am quite certain that the photo of the flower on the second certificate is not my entry. Also, I entered under the Indica category, not the hybrid category. HT changed the category on their own.

I'm not sure how you were able to confuse a concentrate entry with a flower entry.....given that the numbers were not the same.

Lastly, I have had these flowers tested at other labs with quite different results. Is there a great variation of testing results?

I have some serious concerns about the methodology of the "testing." Do know anything about the mechanics of how HT's goes about this? I have 9 years of college, including O-chem, P-chem, stats, etc. I could probably get a job in your lab......

This process has left me greaty concerned about the veracity of the results.

Doc

This is the most recent communication.

I'm also not surprised to learn that others are having similar problems. I'm not going to enter these contests again. Loved the event! Enjoyed the booths and products!

Fuck the "contest." Total BS. I can save a ton of money just getting it tested on my own.

I haven't really paid much attention to the cup events themselves ...

Is there a "grower's cup"?

I spent a lot of time in the fashion business, so I'm familiar with pageants and their financial and marketing structure. These seem like the same thing. The film awards are another one ...

420Mag should host a Grower's Cup - capitalize on this flaw in the HT Cups and others, run by the suits ...

Run an egalitarian Grower's Cup! Never mind the seed houses and corporate operators. :cheesygrinsmiley: Set up a very tight stringent control system and brag the hell out of it. :;): Everybody is a nobody - best stuff wins.

I'm down!

There was a growers cup up here in Washington last year. I'm not to sure on the details or if it will happen again. I was to focused on cannabis cup last year.

On a side note docs experience has me worried how it will be ran this year.

George Carlin, R.I.P., said its a club and we aint members..
Palm padding has happened throughout history..
Its a shame that with all the effort, energy, time, money that the Cannabis world spends to correct the injustice done to this plant and millions/ billions of people affected by the injustice, that questionable(to put it mildly) testing and judging gets thrown into the mix creates more entropy and doubt.

C'mon, go easy on 'em. :cheesygrinsmiley:

It's a pageant. It's a marketing/branding tool. It's a trade show. Winners come, winners go, but the money keeps flowing to the investors. The investors. It's business. We're the audience, Doc et al are the players, and money gets passed to the people who put skin in the game.

But ... you want the players and the audience to believe that it can't be rigged. That's still important. It shouldn't be like professional wrestling.

If you can get a large dispensary/retail shop to put your entry under their name, you'll have a better shot at winning.

I personally won't do it again. If I won....would it be the vendor's money that won? If I lost, would it be the quality of the competition that beat me, or the even larger vendor's money?

Rigged contests need to be avoided.

Interesting that other legitimate folks are having the same concerns.....

Once something that was formerly on the periphery is drawn into the center it is gonna be fraught with all the toxic mess that comes with narrow greed, monopoly, cronyism etc. Maybe prime cannabis will evolve into a crafty, niche product like bourbon, desert wine or bitters where the demographics make it tough for Richey Rich to suck the life out of all involved.

Id love to see a 420mag thing. but to make it completely legit would be tricky.

This^^

That's exactly what it is, Graytail. Marketing and branding. It's no more "rigged" than WWE or presidential elections....which are 100% rigged. You can't be more than 100% rigged.

Sometimes I hate being a realist...
They have their ways and we have our ideals. Theyll keep doing what they do and we'll either deal with it or look the other way. I hope you get justification Doc...you deserve it!!!! But either way it is what it is...fucked up nonetheless.

Wow Doc, I can only imagine the frustration you're feeling! Such a shame that it was so fucked upped. Let's hope a couple more big names got funky numbers and find out about it and then do something about it.

If I may, back to Q & A. I need some advice on flushing. Let me tell you what I've done and you can tell if I'm doing something incorrectly.

Today was an Energy drench, post two Cat drenches. Plants are in HB soil, 7-gal nursery pots with ample drainage holes. Pots sit in saucers. I slowly poured 2 gal of water through each pot. Water drained through so I had to remove maybe a ½ gal from each saucer. Once it appeared the draining had stopped I slowly poured 1 gal of E&Tea into each pot, ½ gal at a time.

Because the medium was saturated, a lot of the E&TEA (or, was it more plain water?) drained into the saucer. I sucked this out and saved it thinking I would add it back as the saucer dried out.

My questions are: 1) what constitutes a good flush for a 7 gal pot, and 2) was 1 gal of E&TEA too much? Suggestions? Thanks.

As it devolves into a laughable greed fest it wont merit the attention or participation of important players.

I always thought that Shit was rigged and when you didn't place I had no more doubts even before this whole mess... At least you had a good time at the event and got to meet some new peeps :)
