Wow doc how's that little bit of red sap/resin on that purple girl!
Glad the cup was fun!
There's a few of those. It's very sweet tasting. Never seen it before.

Anyone know how the judging works, i'm curious now that I see how many strains there are. It would take me a month or two to properly evaluate all of those. It's not like you're going to be able to tell what did what from the second one on unless you had enough time for the last one to wear off plus the first one of the day is always the best
Should try smoking it...you might be on to something lol
They clearly state that the judging is blind and fair. Certainly, the structure of the contest is set up to be fair, and barring "jury tampering," conflict of interests and judges who recognize a certain product the contest works like this:
Judges have about 12 days to smoke and rate the samples on burnability, taste, smell, effect, and other subjective, yet highly important criteria. This is responsible for 70% of the score.
Meanwhile, a lab who partners with the event promoters analyzes every entry and those numbers comprise the remaining 30% of the total score.
I could see myself analyzing 6 strains in this time period, but there were 51 entries in the Hybrid category. I actually entered under Indica and was moved to the Hybrid category by the judges, which I thought was pretty cool. They at least looked carefully and noticed the structure was not typical indica due to the HB and 11/13 photoperiod. That means not only were they paying attention, but they're also pretty sharp. That actually gave a a bit of confidence in the process.
At the awards ceremony, the same company won the first 3 awards. Many of the winners were already assembled backstage, clearly knowing before we all did that they won. But these were large vendors with really nice booths. Most of the larger vendors won cups. At the same time, these vendors also had some absolutely amazing products which no doubt explains why they are large and successful.
It's sweet like syrup. Better not be some pest.....I really don't know what it is, but it's seeping out of some really frosty sugar leaves on a couple plants, and then drips onto the leaf below.

doc you mentioned that some vendors were deservedly multiple winners because of their excellent products. Which vendors did you find especially impressive?
Based on looks, in your last set of pics i for sure saw a few potential cup winners.
Participating in the cup is an excellent achievement. Great job.
Doc, I recently had the same thing with a mazar I just harvested. Very sweet flavor as well. I have two friends with two other different strains that its happened on. The sweetness makes me believe it is a good thing, but I have no idea what causes it.
Hey Doc-
I know your kit is designed around 4 plants in 7 gal. pots for an indoor grow.
How would you recommend using one HB kit in an outdoor grow? 1 plant? 2 plants? Not advised?
What would a drench look like? 1 gallon, 2 gallons?
Thanks!
okay that sour bubble that bog guy had was one of the better strains I smoked from the cup. Actually we rolled a tav joint with all the strains we got from bog last night...man that was excellent. All their sour strains are amazing. That's exactly what I did....sought out the folks who quietly go about their business and consistently grow the best. I acquired some very nice seeds from BOG, who has always been one of my heroes. I'm looking forward to growing some of his stuff, as it looks like it will do very well in my soil.
After meeting, greeting, listening, etc. (but no smelling) I came away feeling quite comfortable with the quality of my produce as compared to the legends......but again, I couldn't smell a damn thing.
I'm definitely on the right track and will continue to work to improve. I can't wait for the damn lab results! They said middle of the week....which in stonerese means early next week.

The air just smelled dank as fuck. Everywhere you went they were offering free dabs. Or even better some bomb ass oil cheap. That Skywalker og gave me the best buzz. The clementine from the guy with all those pieces that was a friend of marks bro had was the best tasting I had.
Over all the lemon paki was my favorite. By far. That first bong rip at your room was one of the best tasting hits of weed I have ever had. Very memorable!!! The champagne was amazing too and the 2 mixed is a great way to start your day.
All and all it was a pretty fantastic experience. I felt right at home talking to the people there.
I got my sense of smell about 80% back by last night and tried some of BOG's Sour Grape. It was fantastic!
I'm glad you liked the Paki, Curso. Of course, it seemed like you gave most of it away....LOL!
I had some stashed bro...lmao...I did share it as our cup entry with a few people. I smoked one with the guys behind us while packing up. He was impressed too..
