Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Bro's,

Going back to those comments about green light during night period...i am pretty sure their is good science that shows green spectrum is utilized by c3 plants. If anyone else has a citation handy that would be cool.

I dont know how much effect green light exposure has on dark period.

Entire thread designated for it here..
Green Lights And How Lights Effect Your Plants!

Hey guys!!

Ok Its been 17 days since I moved my clones from the ez-cloner to 1 gallon containers of Doc's kit.. I waited till the soil was good and dry with the leaves sagging before watering with pure water. Now I am waiting for the soil to dry out again then I will feed with growth energy/xplant/tea mix. I have a couple of questions..

The fan leaves have been showing the slightest burn for the past week. Its so slight the photos don't really pick it up. I assume this is because I mistakenly watered them in with the 7ml/pint xplant. I sprayed brix 8 days after transplanting them from the cloner. It's been 9 days since then and I was thinking of spraying them with the brix again. Should I still hit them with the Brix spray or wait due to the slight yellowing of fan tips??

Should I top them after I feed with growth energy or before? Or wait till I transplant into 7 gallon pots in a week or 2? I plan on vegging for 3-4 weeks once I transplant into the 7 gallon pots.

Thanks

Looks good. I wouldn't worry about the leaves. Continue as planned. Also, no transplant in regular veg feedings. Doc recommends 50/50 energy transplant when heavily root bound.

Yep, and that plant isn't close to root bound.

I'd wait another week before spraying that plant with Brix. You did feed it kinda hot there, and with roots started in an ez-cloner they take a while to hook up with the soil.

When it dries out, give it a good dunk/soak until it's completely soaked through and through. 5mils Growth Energy and 5mils transplant with 2 mils of Tea in a half full 5 gallon bucket....so like 3-4 gallons of water.

Soaking the plants in this, and allowing for thorough runoff by tilting the pots back and forth until they are maximally drained will pep them up.

Now, giving each plant a mixture that strong in say a half gallon of water could possibly damage it. But most of the water---and thus the drench--- in the bucket will remain in the bucket and the root zone will be perfectly hydrated and happified.

I thought I read that you could use 1/4 strength transplant every time you water... Well, if I didn't, oops! Haha. I guess I'll stop that now. The plants don't seem to mind at least!

EDIT: Just reread directions and realized it says to do that "in bloom". Ahhh that makes sense! My bad. I'm still on my first round of high brix and always learning!

No worries they will be fine but it's good you caught it :thumb:

I think of kit growing like a bob ross painting, there are no mistakes just happy accidents :)

Thanks Doc,

Went the week and gave them the Cat and recharge, things looking good. My night time temps are around 63, 77 by "day". Mid winter cold chilling up the basement a bit. I'm only watering about every 5 days or so, seem dry when I do. Am noticing a LOT of bud sites, at two weeks I am very excited to see them fill in. Thanks again.

Let 'em go another week and then Cat drench. More buds will have formed by then. It would appear that one of two things is happening:

1. You've had a couple very cold nights that slightly stalled them
2. Daytime temps aren't high enough and night temps are too high and they've been over watered.

No big deal, they'll recover. Keep night temps at about 68 and day temps about 78 and don't overwater and you'll be just fine. Double up the Tea on the next watering and your microherd will be happier.

Don't get me wrong, those are really nice plants! These are just a couple environmental tips that will take everything into the zone of shiney, waxy leaves, etc.

Your brix appears to be about 11 or 12...barely there, but there! Good things await.

63 is a tad cool in the evening....I'd like to see it about 68 or so.

re: water reports, denver

I've seen talk about checking water reports, and seen a few posted. I think I can use my city water, but not sure. Should I post my water report(s)?

I'm in Denver, has anyone already done the legwork on this?

From my understanding the city gets its water from 3 different sources, any of which you could get at any time.

Alkalinity ranges from the 30s to the 60s.

It would be nice to not use RO, so much waste.

Hopefully will be using a/c and dehuey runoff mostly.

Thanks again my dudes. Please bear with me as the ball begins to roll.....

Use that water. That's perfect water.

D@mn! Those are some happy campers. Love the purple colors.

Doc, stunning! :bravo: Do your plants, same strain, smell same or different under HID than from LED?

They smell the same to me. The LED plants have a tad more resin this time than the HID versions. I haven't grown Paki or Champagne under LED yet....next run.

They have another 3 weeks to go and should go deep purple by then. This strain has definite bag appeal!

So I got roasted(lets be fair they were super nice about it) for not reading all the rules carefully and did a righteous beer thread when I joined the forum. Let me begin by saying that in no way does this post espouse the evils of beer drinking. However I have discovered relative information from those who love to play with the cousin of our beloved plant, hops.

In my quest for water information I found that brewers discussions will often delve into the specific qualities of water, specifically alkalinity, chlorine content and type, ppms and ph. If any sort of community exists in your area chances are someone who can break down a water report has made some righteously easy reading for us on the topic.(hello Denver)

One more fantastic area that these fools have contributed is the alkaline powdered brewery wash. Hot water and a couple tablespoons and your glass comes clean and smell free with a rinse. Got a little baggy that didn't last long with my last purchase at the LHS, had to order me up 4lbs. I'm almost as lazy/busy as I am addicted to my glass being clean and pretty and tasty.

Cheers my brothers.

I apologize if I'm breaking more rules, I'm super punkrock! :tommy:

Ordered some gear, going to get the soil going tomorrow. Doc, do you think a 4x4 tent would be too small to grow 6 plants that your kit provides for? I ended up ordering a p1200.

its either going to have to be 4x4 or 4x8.
