Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

and me, I like loose associations. HA!:biglaugh:

See, it's a perfect world with room for all of us in harmony.:high-five:

I like it!

One of the common problems with container gardening is getting moisture to all aspects of the container. I think dunking or using a saucer is incredibly helpful in achieving this, even if you only do it once.

I used to do the "monsoon" technique where I would really deeply flush them and then chase with a drench. It accomplished complete watering, but I'm getting better results with the saucers now....and less water.

My garden has been operating on AC/Dehum condensate now for a couple months.

I was just going to ask about watering plant with dehu water... Thanks!

Doc, the other day you instructed me to predominately use Cat drench for the WNs. Do any particular other strains or regions of origins that would or could benefit from the same type of feeding?
I upcanned my 2 WNs earlier. Watered as I would with Transplant, but with Cat, 1/2 recommended strength, to get them wet and introduced to the CD.

When I try the Colombian Gold again----I'm 0 for 3 with this strain---I'll use the Cat Drench mostly too. You can use Growth Energy a couple times to mix it it, but I think Cat Drench all the way through is key to taming these strains. Massive flavor too.

My Willie Nelson smelled so much like papaya, it didn't even smell like weed. Unbelievably good smoke.

Ill play devils advocate: why not cat for everything all the time then? I think we all like unbelievably good smoke...

??: my soil has been cooking for 2 days but the temps are only like 58f - how bad am i messing it up, is nothing happening at these frigid temps, etc?. I'm going to try lifting them off the floor and possibly get an electric blanket. I'm having a hell of a time finding a spot to put these bins where its warm. I got plenty of room in the basement, its just quite cool. I'd love any problem solving suggestions, especially cheap ones.

i have similar probs too...

for passive heat i would just take it out of the basement into a higher room where more heat is collected and take it off the floor...my bins sit in my bedroom with my wife and I (shes a trooper :)) since i keep that room the warmest. the little space heater i use to heat our room i also keep it in a close range to the bins, with a few blankets underneath the bottom bin for some insulation.
If you are running HID bulbs still and venting the lights you could blow that heat on the bins as well. just my 2 cents :peace:

I vote this plant for POTM! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately for me, the WAF was invented by my wife. She went ape shit when she came home to me mixing dirt in the basement. I think she was mostly firing for effect as she did not expect it and came home from work all hot and bothered about something there. I got 6 30gal tuff totes, they take up alot of room!

The lights idea is good, unfortunately my grow is offsite and unbuilt, however the shed goes up next week and I'm considering putting them in there pretty soon (although alot of work needs doing up in thar).

First thing I'd do is get them off the floor. Second, I'd look at another small space heater in there to raise temps even a few degrees. A blanket on the floor and a heating blanket on top might also help/be a good idea, but that will only really address a single bin unless you get a couple of them. At that point you'd be better off spending the bread on a slightly bigger, better heater.

My .02c

Oh, another thing you might consider is making some smaller containers to hold some in and move THAT to a warmer part of the house. If you're growing babies to start, you won't need more than a few gallons equivalent of soil. ;)

Probably will need a little heater for the shed anyway, maybe Ill get one now and throw it in the basement.

I left 4 bins downstairs but squirreled 2 away in warmer spots trying desperately to hide in plain sight from the authority. Good call on just getting some of it goin.

cold concrete slabs.....I've got the same problem right now. Get some sort of heater.

RE: Cat Drench all the time.

Try it and you'll see why it's normally a bad idea. But the Willie Nelson grows huge 2 foot long colas that keep foxtailing and pushing out pistils and never stop! The Cat Drench helps keep that under control. It's an adaptation, that's all. The drench is designed for seed crops.

Hey Doc!

I wasn't sure where to post this or whether to send you a P.M. but this thread seemed like the most reasonable place to start. I am interested in getting my feet wet... or should I say "soily?" with High-Brix.

I have been contemplating and have had other experienced growers suggest I start with Mineralized soils before going straight to High-Brix, but as I have found out through research, that would involve me buying all sorts of ingredients and will leave me with extras I don't need. So I am kind of leaning towards your High-Brix kit not only for its proven effectiveness but also the ease of assembly.

What would you recommend for someone in my position?

I did mineralized soil first, and I recommend you skip it, if you want to try Doc's kit. :cheesygrinsmiley:

You end up spending just as much on a bunch of stuff you'll have no use for later. The kit is cheaper and works better. :slide:
