Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc, did you find the WNs to be heavy feeders?
Do they go longer than most other sats?

They aren't heavy feeders at all...they grow really well in our soil....but mine took 22 weeks and still wasn't done. I think you'll do much better on 11/13. The way I arrived at that photoperiod was by reducing time by 15 minutes every couple weeks to try to get them to finish! I liked it so much I just stayed there.

You're going to want to use the Cat Drench nearly exclusively too. Man, I'm jealous! I'm out of Willie.....my favorite smoke of all time.

Ok ill get water report today. Need to go pay bill anyhow. So 125 or less would be ideal.

do you happen to know the PPM of your water? If it's lower than 100 you're good to go in every way. Still could be fine if it's higher, but you'll want to know the Total Alkalinity, which is "expressed" as CaCo3 equivalent on the report.

If you could pick and choose your water, you'd want TA between 50 and 80, with nothing more than Ca, and a bit of Fe creating the "minerals." That would be incredible...mountain spring water type stuff.

I just googled a random water report for San Diego Ca.....this is what you're looking for:

Alkalinity - Total as CaCO3 106 Range 74.2 - 123

This would be really good water to grow plants, barring other factors.

Thats unlikely. I remember when I got the results last year the chloramine was a Lil high. That's about all I remember. I'll grab report and take a pic and post here. If I need to go with an ro system again I will but man ill kick myself in the ass for selling mine.

If your current crops are growing well, I would probably just get a filter. RO wastes water and costs money, etc.
But check your water report.

I do consult! Everyday....all the time. But since I love talking about this stuff, I just "consult" friend to friend, without exchanging money.

All of that flows from integrity.....

As for Cat Drenching...I'd use it as the exclusive drench staring the first feeding in bloom. It has fish juice in it, so no need for the Transplant. Please keep us posted!

Doc, when you repeat grow the same strains that you have, what kind of differences and similarities in even your quality, do you notice as the grow number increases of the same strain...while you are learning ( I know,, right?? - Im kidding..Masters are the first to learn, -thats how they became Masters) :) to grow and tweaking?

Sometimes I want a bunch of consistent product and so I follow the "book" so to speak. Other times I'll experiment on one or two to see what happens with a new drench, for example. Here's Lemon Paki that had the "Salt" drench. It's not as good as normal paki.

Doc, I just remembered the question I had from the other night while sampling a 'humidored J' ...lol..im smoking another of the same.. :) do you know of any HB farmers/farms that distribute their produce, i.e. veggies, fruits, flowers, grain, herbs, into any nationwide chain stores or nationwide food co-ops??

I do not know of any like that, sorry bro. Most sell directly to restaurants or at farmer's markets, but usually to high end restaurants.

Hey, Doc Bud, I stumbled onto your thread here recently and started reading through it. So far I'm on page 74/308 lol. I'm interested more information about the kit. PM me information when you get a chance? Thanks, Doc.

Doc, I had heavily root bound plants before transplant. They should have been transplanted a week earlier. They were in gallon pots and got transplanted to 7 gallon smart pots. I did your recommended rootbound transplant procedure waited to spray with to destress the next day and then I started getting leaf burn this had happened once before when I had watered and got transplant on the leaves I was wondering what your thoughts or diagnosis would be on this. I am using your kit.

Pull off the ugly leaves and look to new growth....which looks pretty good.

Were you completely dunking the 1 gallon pots? Once they get really root bound that's the only way to thorougly water them. But I think you answered your own questions there....week earlier, etc.

The new growth looks great.

Hello Doc.

I wanted you to take a look at this and let me know if I am off in any way so that I can adjust.

It is a simplified version of your instructions in a way that I can understand better at a glance. Also, it is measured in terms of one plant rather than six plants because I am only growing one lady at a time.

Waters

.....Water A = Plain Water + 1/4 Strengh Transplant (1.25ml)

.....Water B = Growth Energy (2.5ml full strengh) + 1/4 Strengh Transplant (1.25ml) + 2.5ml Tea

.....Water C = Tansplant (2.5ml full strengh) + 2.5ml Tea

.....Water D = Cat Drench 2.5ml + Tea 2.5ml

During Veg

Alternate between waters A and B

During First half of Flowering

Alternate between waters A and C

Roughly at end of the third week of flowering apply the first dose of Cat drench. When ready for water again after that, apply the second dose of cat drench.

During latter half of flower (after cat drenches)

Alternate in the following fashion: A, B, A, C, A, B, A, C... until harvest.

Is that about right or do I need adjustment somewhere?

Thanks Doc!

That's very, very nice! Love it.

The only thing I would say is don't be afraid to alter it once you get to know your strains and products. For example, I like to hit the Growth Energy in veg a bit more for strains that tend to need staking or trellissing....makes the stems stronger. Also makes for really good clones.

Don't neglect the importance of Growth Energy in bloom either.

But overall I think you have a succinct accurate and solid schedule there! Nice job.

DOC thanks for your endless FREE consulting....you are invaluable to this community.:thanks:

Q for you.

I have some plants in flower in 12.5 gal air pots. they drink 3/4-1gal a day. Since I am watering everyday how often should I be drenching per week?
IE. should I feed, water, feed, water on and on (feed drench ~3-4x week)
or
feed, water for 2-3 days, feed, water 2-3 days (feed drench 2x week)
or
feed, water for 6 days, feed (feed drench 1x week)

Im in the process of working it out on my own and tweaking here and there but I would love to know what you recommend.

Thanks Doc.
