Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok Doc that is what I thought. Going to start the cook today!(cant wait)

Ok I will just use what is on page 5 from the Lab thread as a pick slip as a guide and will go over the containers they were packed in just to make sure. Have no doubts these girls will be sexy! Here are my observations. I did not see any signs of leakage and the caps were all taped off.

What is included in the kit:

1.)Soil amendment. Minerals, plant food, etc. There is one large bag of this marked, “Amendment” - Good, 3 bags.

2.)Soil re-charge. Similar to the amendment but with a a few additions. There is a bag marked “re-charge.) - Good, 3 bags.

3.)Root Mycorrhizal inoculate. This is added to the transplant hole, or the hole where seeds are germinated. This bag is marked “Root Zone.” - Good(have the extra root zone too!)

4.)8 oz foliar spray “Brix” - They look like qt size containers for the brix and the stress. Brix had 12oz total in the container.

5.) 8 oz foliar spray called “Stress” - 16oz total

6.) 6 oz fertilizer called, “Energy” - looks like 4 oz containers recieved 3 bottles for approx 12 oz.

7.) 1 oz soil conditioner called, “Conditioner.” - Good, 2 of the 2 oz little black and white containers.

1.1 oz concentrated microbial boost called “Tea” - Good, same as conditioner.

2.1 oz Organic Nutrient Extract, called “transplant” - More than good, 2 4oz containers roughly 7oz +

Plus 2 2oz containers with the cationic for week 4(2x) and 1 container marked just cationic.

So my main concern is the brix, stress and the energy.

Ok gotta run off to work....I will check back later. Can't wait! Why do I feel like a little kid in a candy store lol ;

Peace,

Any2

The Energy is offset by the Cationic Drench and the extra Transplant. Read the bottles.
If you run out of Brix, let me know ASAP. You should be fine with that amount, there's always extra.
You have plenty of Stress.

I was careful!

I have zero doubts that you will take care of me Doc ur the best! I just have a feeling these girls are gonna be big!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hi Doc,

Been awhile since I posted last. Since then the soil has been cooking for aprox. 2 months. I have done one full test grow and another is 6 weeks in. I have had trouble with hermaphrodites especially, all the plants that were grown from random bag seed turned out to be hermaphrodites. All I have left are 2 Silver Pearls and 2 White Skunks both from Sensi Seeds and both around 10 years old (stored in freezer) Anyways a long story short, the climate has been dialed in and I have 20 some odd clones. I am waiting for them to root and into the High Brix soil they go.

What I was wondering was, I was shipped the kit before you got onto the cationic drench. Is there someway that I can replicate that? Also, reading Any2's posts, he ordered 3 packages and received 3 separate amount of amendments. I ordered 2 packages, but I only go one bag of each of the minerals, re-charge and root zone. I had figured that it was just put into one bag and not split. Was I correct?

Thank you for sharing all your discoveries, I love the knowledge sharing that goes on here. I have learned a great deal, and hope to continue to learn more, and perhaps one day be able to give that back.

I can fit two amendments into one bag, but not three. I now have things pre-assembled so I can put kits together easier.

If you email me I can arrange to get you the drench! Results without are still fantastic.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thanks Doc!
I am very excited to start the high brix. Hope fully I will be drooling over my own plants the way I have been over yours. I weasnt worried about not having the drench, but seeing it in action... When you can make things better, do it!

Again, thanks for the swift reply.

wow doc your really blasting it out of the park!im getting close to going all in on ordering, just $ and finding the promix, and i needed to use up a bunch of nutes i have, anyway, i have some questions, curso the awesome guy he is has gifted me some goodies to play with, im already loving the soil life activator tea wow potent! i have some amaze, pgr, cationic drench, bloom it, & some others, what im wondering as my soil is cookin, are any of these things good to use on plants in coco packed with organic nutes, like would a little amaze/pgr or bloomit be safe to mist say lighter dose than a full doc style hb grow, ive spent hours reading and have found nothing to say that it would be detrimental to hit them with a light dose , my coco is also very full of minerals, azomite, gypsum, i did find some proper limestone in the garage under a box from 7 yrs ago lol the plants are doing good, just looking to give them a boost, they are from 11 days to 70 in flower, i figured out my ph problem was not ph but heat stress there was a hot spot from a reflection/hot zone and a fan quit that i didnt catch right away and found that i should not bubble more than 24 hrs, after that it jumps up radically, but i dont think that was ever the problem, the minerals keep the runoff steady at6.5-6.9,
it seems the idea of using some of the sprays is plausible since my coco is purpose built to be more like soil than hydro,
i did a little comparison and seems the promix hp and the sunshine#4 are very similar hp has lime and a wetting agent, #4 does not but has coir, both have mykos, i think its a fair bet they are very close, thats what i will use for my first attempt at high brix i have enough for prob 2 plants start to finish, curso is just so anxious to get me in knowing how bad i want to do it, im also thinking it may be possible to do high brix in coco, i see no reason not to experiment, ok thats enough bugging you for now ,im interested in seeing what you think:thumb:

I don't know how to guide you in coco.....but I admire a spirit of experimentation!

I have no idea if any of the sprays will do much, but it's possible they will. :thumb:

I thought the same. I also figured if he emulates thisIn The Lab as best he can. The very least learned is SOLID TECHNIQUE (thanks again Doc) and results to to show for it.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

i figured i would go slow mix things in conservative ratios, and observe closely and keep good records(hardest part for me)
and of course continue reading & studying , last night i mixed up some amaze/pgr at 3/4th what cursos directions said, same for bloomit, well i mixed the bloomit at half,, a lightly misted the bloomit on the ones just starting into flower and the vegging 3 in soil got amaze/pgr, and tea with energy, hows that sound?

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey BID, I might have only sprayed one plant or a branch on one plant. I've ruined a few plants by thinking I was ok and trying something new only to find out the plants didn't care for what I did. It sounds like that bloom it and pgr are awesome if you get them dialed in. I bet you get them dialed in with the Coco! Post some pics if it works or doesn't. You are a trailblazer.

well i did mix on the weak side, firstly, then i sprayed VERY lightly so much so in fact that the spray was completly dry and not even slightly visible anywhere within 2 min, im confident i did not overdo it, and i did not spray all my plants, in flower i only sprayed the ones that are are just entering heavy pistil formation,in veg same story but i did only the 2 larger plants, thanks for the suggestion & cautionary concern, no worries im a less is more kinda mindset, i never give the full rec doses of anything even if its just a smidge less:thumb:

Hey BID, I have no idea if you're state side or not but I was able to source pro mix hp from Lowes, it's not in the bale but at least it's pro mix. Hope this helps
,
i tried there once before and didnt find it but perhaps thats changed have you a link?,

think i have hijacked docs house enough , guys please direct questions at me in my journal, unless its got something to do with doc, i try to be respectful of that idea, tho i fail often myself, besides you can see what im up to :cheesygrinsmiley::cheesygrinsmiley::thumb:

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok Doc the cook is on! I have 4 32 gal rubbermaid containers that are full from the 3 bales and worm castings. I mixed in the conditioner/water evenly in all 4 cans which was roughly 9.5 gallons and mixed it up pretty well but it seemed a bit dry.

1) During the cook how much water can or should I add to the mix. I read the Lab section on the consistency but when starting it off is roughly 2 gallons per 32 gal enough?
2) I have them outside in the shade but it is going to get in the 100s this weekend and was wondering it the extreme heat will kill the cook or be bad for it. You mentioned 90 degrees as a high mark but I can not bring them indoors and the garage is still pretty warm but that is where I think I will move them.

I have clones started in the quick start (2) Girl Scout Cookies (2) Sour Diesel (2) Blue Dream and once the cook is completed I will use the garbage cans as pots(with some perlite to fill space in the bottoms and some drainage modifications to the cans). Roughly 20 gal per for each plant. Not ideal for pots I know but I need moveability if needed and the cans come with wheels in case the little women needs to move them if I am not there. Many more questions to come but that is it for now lol.

Peace,

Any2

OK....there are some problems with your approach.

1. I say how much water to use in the directions.

Quoting from the instructions in my signature:
Step One: Soil Prep

Thoroughly mix the following:

1.)ProMix HP
2.)Amendment
3.)Worm Castings

This will fill a 40 gallon barrel and spill over to halfway fill another 40 gallon barrel. Put half the mix in the barrel and water with .5 oz of Conditioner in 1.5 gallons of water. Put the other half of the mix in the barrel and water with another .5 oz of Conditioner in 1.5 gallons of water.

(note: If you're using 40 gallon cans water the first half with one gallon, the second half with one gallon, and use the one remaining gallon in the partially full can.)

So, there's how much water. Why do you want to add any? Cover the cans and let them do their thing.

2.)You mentioned mixing the worm casting and conditioner....what about the amendment?

3.)Like I said, 90 degrees is tops....so why go for 100 degrees? Put your cans inside so it's not quite that hot!
4.)Perlite in the bottom of the cans? Whatever for? Bad idea!!!

Adding perlite to the bottom will only decrease the amount of soil available for growing. Don't do it. It won't help drainage one bit. Not even a little bit. All it will do is decrease the size of your container! Waste of time and money.

Keep it simple. It's really easy.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok Doc I am sensing some frustration and I do not want to be on that"list"of people who don't even try to look through the materials you have already presented for the answer but I do my best to look first. There was mention of adding water in the lab section and it got me thinking that's all. Obv I have 3x the material to work with 3oz of conditioner would yield me 9 gallons of water/conditioner I get that. I only mentioned that it "seemed a bit dry" because as I mixed it up after adding the water/conditioner some of the mix was dryer than other parts of the mix that got the moisture. I even threw it back on the tarp and mixed it up again but it appeared that I could not get all of the mix dampened evenly. So I just wanted to make sure I set it up right and also to ask about moisture throughout the cook if and when I might need to add water. I will always follow and listen to your expertise but I just was not sure since I was dealing with different size containers and 3x the pro mix. Sorry if it was a stupid question.

2) Yes the amendment was added in.

3) I am not "going" for a 100 degrees to achieve anything different than what you suggested but I just can't lug them inside my house and the best case is in the garage but it will still be hot there too. So I just asked what that level of heat will do and was concerned with what level of damage it could do to the cook.

4) The perlite idea had zero to with drainage and yes I did want to decrease the soil capacity in the cans which carry 32 gal. I plan on using 6 of these cans with approx 20 gal of mix per can as I have roughly 128 gal total but wanted the soil level towards the top of the can. I would normally use 20 gal smarts with handles but my wife can not pick these up and move them if for whatever reason she needs to if I am not there. The area where I will have them is ideal for sun exposure but in plain view to someone in the backyard. Unfortunately there are certain people within our circles that we need to keep this private from. Thus the cans with wheels idea. I could go less cans and more mix if you think 20 gal is not enough.

I know things are not ideal here but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to overcome the obstacles. For the record I have no plans to deviate from your advice and your knowledge and help is very appreciated. I will do my best to seek the answers first but this all just happened so fast and I wanted to get on board with this as soon as I read it so I am throwing things and ideas togther on the fly.

Again thanks for all that you do and I apologize for asking questions that maybe I should'nt have had I had more time to dig.

Peace,

Any2

I like questions! The reason I answer the way I do is not just for you, but for others.

I have 72 kits in service as of this morning. When I get 9 emails overnight asking things like:

"Do you put the amendment in the soil before of after you cook it?" or "I'm confused, do the plants need to be foliar fed instead of watered?"

I tend to get a little irritated! Ha!

I'll support you 100% of the way! I'll answer all your questions....even if I post quotations from the directions to do so.

RE Perlite at the bottom of the cans....please don't do this! Just use the soil.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I get it Doc.......certainly don't want to be one of the ones. I know you must be crazy busy as well so I will do my utmost to have questions of substance. Ok I will ditch the perlite idea to take up container space and just use them as is then. Probably should have gone with 4 bales and a little more in each but 20 gallons of medium for outdoor seemed sufficient.

Again thanks for all that you do!
