Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I don't know much about that strain. Generally speaking, the more pure a strain is, the better it will do in High Brix. Strains that have been made famous in hydro, like OG Kush, don't come out the same. Other strains that may not be "good" in hydro can really surprise when done in good soil.

The bottom line is find stuff you enjoy smoking and growing and stick with it!

They all grow very healthy, the taste is just different from what we're sometimes used to. I think a good afghan or paki strain is a perfect choice.

I am blown away with my AK47. It's the best I have ever seen this plant. I agree, find something you like to smoke and love it. Everything I have grown (aside from GSC) has been fantastic in hb. I was being picky with GSC, everyone else loved it.

World of Seeds has pure and landrace strains...

Gotta get me some of that AK.....I can't believe I've never grown it.

Doc...if you get some AK, i would stick to the original from Simon at Serious Seed.,it's the real deal, all the others are just copies!AK-47 stinks like no other weed i have smelled...it just reeks !Very strong ,hard hitting, nice tasting produce. In H.B. it would rock, for sure!Cheers.

Mine is from a friend of mine's godfather. He got it from him in 1988..its some bomb ass shit. I agree, nothing smells like ak47. Nothing...

Hey Curso...what kind of yield do you pull from that AK47,pot size etc.?
this is the first time I have grown it in HB, we generally run 5 of those and 5 diesels and the AK is generally massive. I'll take some pics of it tomorrow I am about to go out for the day. This is the most recent pic of the cola...

Ya eh...first time i tried it ,i couldn't stop laughing at just how much it reeeeeked!Even outside ...just breaking up a nug would stink up the whole place:):) The HB version of it will be just what you expect...i'm sure. We are growing some of the best strains in the world using the best (so far) methods,lighting,soil,etc....so the produce is very pure and strong! This MK Ultra of mine never gets old,if you know what i mean. Doesn't make me cough...at all! Pure snobery,i know!:) Cheers bro!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Yes, I think you should top dress with Limestone. Not dolomite....CaC03....limestone. A manure mix like that is going to greatly acidify the soil and could very well burn the roots. The limestone will help keep that pH in range. Dolomite does other stuff I don't like. Limestone is much better in a biological system.

Hey Doc,
So if we take a soil sample under a microscope should there be signs of live moving microbes ?

Have a good 1, Bulldog

Doc, and others. Thanks for the comments re landrace strains in HB. So many strains, so little time and space! LOL!!

Here are some pics. I'm about ready to harvest and need some experienced opinions. Yesterday was the start of the 9th week of flowering. The majority of the pistoles have darkened. A lot of the trichromes are turning amber. I know it's close, but was hoping for better cola development (fuller, larger, etc.), but don't want to wait too long - I'm getting hungry! Strains are GSC, Jilly Bean and Cannatonic.

Any advise or suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I'd let them go another week. If you're using my kit, give them a good dose of Growth Energy.

Looks like a early cat drench case to me

Ya ...me too.Lots of resin but hardly any bulking up at all!Buds seem really small but still yummy!I waited until the start of week 4 from pistels for starting two C.D.'s. this round. I'm thinking a little later is better than too early.Cheers!

Dugan, "week 4 FROM pistols"? Not from the start of 12/12? I shot Doc some pics in an earlier post showing early flower formation in week two and inquired about doing CD the following week and he felt they were far enough along to do so. I'm really interested in your and Canucks experience with doing a CD later in the cycle.

Canuck: do you wait until the fourth week from pistol FORMATION regardless of what week of flowering you're in?

Thanks. (Again, this is my first grow so I'm learning as I go....)
