Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey Doc, recall a few weeks back you mentioned about JH using the last few weeks to really plump up. This plant will be 12.5 weeks since 12/12 tomorrow. Wadda ya think about doneness?

Doc or any other kit growers have an opinion on biochar in kit soils? Conradino has a thread just started about this amendment. I've never used it for produce but I have grown many woody ornamentals in a mix with a good percentage of char. Because the trees are re-potted ever 2,3 ,4,5 years char is useful in maintaining soil structure & pH. It also helps tremendously with container weight.

Was wondering who all might have made any observation on biochars use in growing cannabis.

Here's some detail from a product, reasonably priced (comparatively*), available online from Cali.

Pyrolysis Based BioChar
1 Cubic Foot treats 20-100 Cubic Feet of Soil or up to 100 square feet
pH 6.97 CEC 22 N-P-K = .46-.17-1.4
Conserve Water & Promote Healthy Soil Life
Apply once for years of benefit

* price raised from $15 to $25 in the few hours since i purchased and posted!

It's in there! Biochar is in the amendment. You don't want too much of it, but some is very important.

yes it got more icicles in the later weeks. there is a grow vid on line showing the breeders grow of the strain. he goes 13 weeks and ends up with massive colas and a plainly fantastic grow.

ill cut her down on my next free day. thanks for taking a look.
That's very different than the cut of Jack I run....but very cool!

BTW, you'll ship tomorrow.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hi Doc, getting closer to being ready to PM you, probably within a month or two... I'm still making some final decisions and was hoping you and the kit users might chime in and give me a little guidance.

Considering I'd be in a smallish cabinet (approx. 2'x3'x5') and I'd be using LEDs, I'm a little concerned that the pots won't dry out fast enough. So my thinking was to go with 7-gallon equivalent air pots? I'm wondering if I should also go with the Pro Mix HP and maximize aeration? Or is this maybe overkill, or may cause other problems? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone!

Doc

Just read your LED review. :cheesygrinsmiley: I am always glad to see a seasoned HPS growers opinions on LED. Glad it got you thinking. I am looking forward to an LED panel with as much power as your 1000 watt HPS... it may be just around the corner :cheesygrinsmiley:

Cool to see you doing LED

So biochar is in your kit you're saying, Doc? Amazing that someone else finally got to it as I thought I was alone researching its possibilities. This year I added a lot to my soil, but outdoor you can really go overboard as roots do not have any limits, so you can push it as far as you want. Anyway, here are three plants grown with biochar and other organic additives.

It's very important that the plants not get wet feet too much, hence the HP. I would definitely use the HP in your situation. No question.

Yep. It was included in the kit from day one. Carbon is the chief element for moisture control and the biochar really helps not only with that, but also with the CEC. I used to include it in the form of "conditioner" but now it's in the amendment.
