Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I'm all straightened out now Doc. Thank you for your patience. I am learning the site. You are awesome. How did the Columbian Gold grown high brix turn out? Anything outdoors in high brix currently?

The CG was amazing.

Currently the greenhouse is mainly for breeding purposes, but that will change in June.

Crossing some Kush's, adding Afghani to Colombian....stuff like that.

hey there docbud...been following your journals for a while since hempy and oc+ days. I just joined because it got a bit extreme and I want to eventually take part in this marvelous discovery of yours. Updates please?????!!!!!!! Signed up just so I can ask.

Here are some updates and pictures.

The amendment for the recycled soil is now in and I'll be able to ship kits out with the new amendment.

The Herijuana's are now in the 11th week of bloom. Still nothing amber, getting larger and more cloudy triches. I'll probably harvest within a week or less. Pretty much the same deal with the fat Gypsy's. Again, I've never let them go this long before, but they're still putting on weight and resin....so what the heck? Give it a try.

Wow doc that is some "show bud" right there, I've never seen such tight bud mass like that, those plants look freaking amazing man. Thanks for your hard work and dedication to this great plant.

Fantastic looking plants Doc. :bravo:

Even though I am barely out of the starting gate on my grow, I of course want to plan ahead.

What should my game plan be for the left over fresh soil I haven't used yet?

It should be close to enough for 2 or 3 7 gl pots. Should I save the current soil and mix it in with the fresh?

Also since I should have enough kit supplies for at least 2 more plants.

Question here is wheather I mix the soils or not, would it be ok to experiment with some teas or another nute with the already brixed up soil for the other 2 plants?

Use the other soil as is, without mixing.

Then, mix up all the soil when things are done and you can run it again. You'll need another kit for the second run. For the third run, you'll need a different amendment and less foliar spraying.

I completely understand that desire to experiment with this and that...you're no different than me. I'll just warn you that following directions has produced the best overall results so far. I'd be very careful with teas and such...

Wow!!!! Doc your plants are exquisite and your ladies are explicit lol. Welcome back though. How was the vacation?

Man Doc those Herijuana are never a disappointment but that is unbelievable bro!!! That might top that freaky Jack (at least in the pic's). Everything else looks fantastic per usual.
:high-five::passitleft:

It won't yield like the Jack did, but the buds are like pinecones. If you flick them with a finger, they're hard and make a "thwap" sound. The resin gets so thick it starts acting like glue after a while.....reminds me of epoxy.

Vacation was great! Got away to Vegas for 4 days, just the wife and me. Won some money at the poker tables, ate some amazing food, saw a Circ show....smoked some weed, drank a small amount of tequila, slept in, stayed out late....you know the drill.

It was a great 4 days and best of all, NOTHING was amiss in the garden when I got home!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

That's fantastic doc. Glad you enjoyed yourself and made it home safely to a steadily flowing garden. And can't wait till I can try your kit, won't be long though. I want glue like resin :Namaste: you are the master. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

I'm glad your vacation was awesome Doc. I was curious what temps you like to run currently for day and night. I assume about 79 for a day temp, but I am really curious what your night temp was at. And since you are perpetual, do you run a standard night temp? Or do you drop temps at the last couple weeks of flower? The colors you are getting are pretty ridiculous. I've got some Flo's in hempys that are turning purple on me with temps at 68 lights off.

Day temps: (with 1500 ppm of CO2)

Veg: 80 70% RH
Bloom: 78-86 depending on strain and phase of bloom. 50%RH

Nite temps:

Veg: 72 50% RH
Bloom: 65-75, depending on stage of bloom. 50% RH

Colors will happen for many strains when nite temps get down to 65-68 range.

Some strains can be made to stretch less if the day/nite temps are within 10 degrees of eachother during the stretch phase....mostly sativa's and sativa dominant hybrids.

With many Indica's, a larger Day/nite gap will make the plants a bit larger and stretch the buds out a bit, which will help with rot and mold. An example of this in my garden is the Herijuana, which is normally a shorter, squatty plant with HUGE buds. My methods have stretched it out a bit, with golf-ball to Lemon sized nugs that aren't pressed into eachother.

But the colors are even more effected with what you feed. The cationic soil drench always brings color! I'm still learning how to use it.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Update!

I got the highest brix measurements ever from the veg room yesterday. I got a 12 from the tops of two Platinum OG's....leaves taken in the dark cycle. That means that had a waited till lights were on for a few hours I'd probably get a 14....which is a decent reading for a blooming plant. I've never had a small, vegging clone measure that high.

Here's why:

Cannasensei! His idea of bottom watering makes all kinds of sense, so I've taken 3 P OG's and have only bottom watered them. They are indeed doing better than the plants that are getting top watered and only occasionally drenched. The OG's only get the drench.

So....I've now got a serious project in the works....converting a tray in the flowering room to flood and drain, air pots, etc.

Thanks Cannasensei! +reps!
