Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc,

Is the bottom watering done only with plain water, or is it also done with the Energy and Tea?

Or is the Energy and Tea what you are considering the drench?

All of the above! I've always dunked small pots in veg several times, but never each and every watering.

Water, Energy, Tea.....all of it. The only problem I have is that it wastes a lot of water! Even if I do it once or twice during the bloom phase, it's still going to be an improvement!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I've been throwing mine in a tub with a couple air stones with tea/energy or just water and soaking them for 5-10 minutes. It has made a vast improvement and a whole lot less watering weekly to be honest.

Well, when you have a 5 foot tall plant with 5-7 oz of bud on it....staked up so it doesn't fall over, it's difficult to throw them in a tub! I use a bucket for the small plants, but cannot do it with the large ones.

So, it's gonna take some time, but I'm going to convert to bottom feeding. It just makes a ton of sense and I've seen the results for myself.

I'll still have to top water from time to time for Recharge, etc.....but the bulk will be bottom watering.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

One day I'll have to do the same Doc :) Space envy is overwhelming ;)

I have a total of 1200 square feet, 2/3 of which is for soil handling. I do not want to expand as I actually have a small grow, fully legal. It's not a micro-grow like many on the forum....but it's not a commercial grow either. Handgrown, High Brix Weed.....

Hey Doc! I'm just jumping in on this one. First few pages read so far and pretty sweet. Me likey likey ;-) Peace and +Reps bro

Glad to have you aboard!

I hope I don't have to change my signature and omit the "Never stop improving"

I am beginning to hate the technological advances that makes people have to buy new phones every six months, faster computers, new media players every few years to play our favorite movies and so on. We never get to enjoy something before it's out of date and needs replaced.

Now Doc is turning my growing world upside down and I have to bottom feed!!! When will it end.

Just kidding Doc.

I did notice when I still had a plant from the last grow in with the new ones and I flushed it heavy, the fabric pots that were fairly light and in need of water in a day or two actually sucked up a lot of the runoff from the 5gl bucket the old plant was in, and they were fairly heavy the next day, so they sucked up a lot in the little time I had the 5gl bucket flushing.

I know how you feel!

FWIW, you can still produce super-topshelf without bottom watering....you know that. I'm on a mission, that's all. I'm to spend the rest of my life trying to grow the best weed in the world, and I have a long, long way to go!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

You have my full attention. I pop The Church in a peat pellet soaked with a weak nutreint solution, then made a little dwc with a 3
" netpot and it is exploding. So now I'm thinking the same flood and drain or flood and leave alittle res in the bottom. I already have some of the smaller air pots. Can't wait for the new run! This will be Epic! Love your grows. All the knowledge. Props to you man!

Hey Doc, how's it going? Haven't heard or seen anything from the greenhouse in a while. Do you mind giving us a peak?

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Yea itz me again Doc. I was wondering, do you think high brix can be achieved in coco coir dominated mix? Jus some that ran cross my mind. Hope itz not a dumb question.

I don't think it's a dumb question at all. Could it be done? I suppose it could.....but why?

Why use coir when you can use peat moss, or soil? You'd have to get it tested, tell them what it is (CEC and base saturation are very different in coco.) But I suppose it could be done.

Why does everyone get so excited about coco?

I dont know what's the excitement but I was just interested. I neva used coco coir but seen alot of others talking about it and was jus wondering if it could be used in high brix. I havent seen a question about it and decided to be the one to ask. I have only grown in soil/potting mix.

In order to get high brix, you've simply got to find a way to get hyperactive biology in the coco.....and give it the right ratio of stuff to eat. Of course, the same holds true for soil, which is much easier to work with and has been doing shows with the microbes for billions of years.

Coco Coir? Definitely the new kid.
