Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok, question time for you all, I’ve got some franken strains that like light feeds with full Mag, how would we go about this? Super drench and then maybe top dress a bit of epsoms?

Nevermind the epsoms, gonna use snake oil twice and a super drench should do the trick, as per Docs instructions. But now are super drench and rescue drench the same?

Hey Kid! I'm sure others will chime in but im guessing just snake oil because you said they're light feeders are both rescue and super drenches are really strong, pretty sure super is more than rescue.

:passitleft:
Yes, super drench is 8oz Trans and 10 ml tea per 5 gal where as rescue is 1oz and 6ml tea per gal

If your strain is a "light feeder" then why give her a SD or RD. Not sure why Doc would say to omit the Epsoms. Foliar feeding with Epsoms is a NO GO cuz it will act as a laxative flushing nutrients from the foliage. If your plants were mine. I would give those two SO w/ Brix applications but would also spread a good handfull of Epsoms around the base of the plant and 'water' in. Do this and you will notice how the added Mg . helps. BTW, a few years ago Doc and i came up with a epsom routine for a couple of trouble plants i had going and he suggested the very thing i just did, so. Like Ween just said too...if that girl is a light feder,..and you absolutely know this, then DO NOT give such a high dosage of things. Give the SO and Epsoms a chance to work. BTW , Doc also has done the Epsom thing lots in the past ,...FYI!
Happy Easter Kid!

Ok so I know people are using docs soil for veggies too. My question is how?? Obviously the life cycles are different so that would change the timing of things. I would love to use the kit for some strawberry and peppers but can’t seem to find much info giving details as how to apply the kit to them. Maybe it would be better to run a separate kit that’s more tailored to them vs our other “produce”. If anyone can point me in the direction I need that would be awesome. Thanks!! :nomo::passitleft:

If you want to do veggies you'll want to talk to Doc about what you are going to grow and he'll recommend different products based on the veggies you are growing. Tomatoes and peppers you can use the kit products. You'll use primarily growth ionic for drenching. Use the CAT drench when you want blossoms then back to growth. Be prepared the tomato plants will get really big and produce large heavy tomatoes. I have a hard time keeping up with them in a pot. I'd have to soak them in the morning and they would be wilting by evening. The end results are amazing and will ruin you from buying grocery store tomatoes.

Well I see he’s supposed to be back soon so that’s great!! I’m hoping to ruin us on store bought stuff. That stuff is probably nutrient deficient anyways given the way our ag works. They don’t care what they’re feeding us as long as profits are good. I just imagine strawberries would be so good done in High Brix. I container grow and use organic soil and nutrients but I don’t cook any soil. That part of it is all new to me. Seeing how well it works for the other stuff we’re doing I can’t wait to see the difference. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, strawberries and pineapple is what I have right now but would love to also do some melons and blueberries. I’m getting ready to build a potato planter too and think that everything would benefit from docs soil. I can’t wait to pick his brain about this stuff and really get a better understanding of how it works. Some day I’d like to be able to grow everything we eat all year long. I would like to reach 60 and be able to retire healthy instead of being all broke down from the years of eating poisons. Thanks for the info!!

I’m not sure of Doc’s estimated return date but if you are pressed for time, there is a Q&A section on his website that might help.

Think it might have been Michael on docs insta, but I was no gonna foliar epsoms I was gonna do snake oil with brix like you said, already did the super drench last night and they seemed happier this morning, brix with snake oil will be applied on Sunday which is the soonest I can do it but will also top dress some epsoms

Hey Fluffy! I can say that Doc's soil is not right for blueberries. You need acid loving soil or can buy acidifier. when I posted that my berries, 3 years old now, have not had any fruit (I actually had 1 berry, ha) Doc said I could use Cat drench and Brix once a month. Hoping for some berries this year.

Question about my blueberries, they are in 10gal fabric pots and roots have grown through the fabric into the ground. Construction at my house might require me to move them. Will they live if I have to tear them up from the ground?

This is an educated guess really (cause I’ve never grown blueberries) but you should prune them way back if you’re going to move them. Cutting the root system alone won’t kill them but that smaller root system wont support the plant at their current size. I have never been in that exact situation but from keeping mother plants and cutting root systems back to keep them manageable I learned that. First time I cut a root system my poor plant looked ill for a long time. She didn’t die but took a while to recover. Then I learned more about bonsai and applied the same theories and had good success with it.

So as Duggan and Ween said, Super Drench bad idea, all the “OG’s” are PISSED. gonna give them all a flush, then scratch in epsoms and give a light feed. In the pic you can see the heavy curl down I got going on

Is it practiced with the kits to allow the media to near the dry end of the spectrum? Those plants look over watered to me.
