Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Right on SP, I have heard of Azamax. The thing that tipped me off was that growth on my clones was very slow and stunted. I happened to see one flying in the room about three weeks ago, but I got a sense of false security after hitting them with Leaf Wash and they seemed to disappear.
Now I’m here to fight the good fight!

Looking at the fertilizer breakdown on the label, the leaf wash is somewhat stronger than Destress. As you say though, certain pests have a three day egg incubation period necessitating the use of a product at least twice a week. I’ve been, so far at least, spraying it every three days if not sooner.
Perhaps it’s more feasible to alternate Leaf Wash and weaponized foliars?
Either way, I’m beating them back and I can see the plants are starting to grow normally now.
If there's no buds on 'em yet, I'll hit them with Leaf Wash 2-3 times in Veg if I can. 1x/week, 1/4str folairs otherwise. Leaf Wash at 1/4oz/quart. I'm able to hit 100 plants at a time with a mixed quart, so the stuff really does go a long way. Drench 'em with that foliar--tops, bottoms, stems, soil surface. De-Stress and Brix at 1/4 strength, BLASTED on the undersides to physically remove the eggs/bugs that might be there. It's more that water doing the work, but since we foliar anyway, we might as well take the opportunity to titrate the dosage so that 2 de-stresses and 2 brixs are done in a week, but with 1/4 applications each time. That way, if pests are bad, we can blast the plants literally every day. Personally, I like to use this time to blast the plants in such a way that I'm doing a little LSTing at the same time. Works great as an ipm method--daily foliars at 1/4 strength (destress once day, brix the next, etc), with full strength Leaf Wash once a week, during veg.

This is just what I do (now on a commerical scale), but for what it's worth, I've yet to have ANY major insect issues doing things this way, keeping the plants as High Brix as possible. It sure works for me--Hope this helps!

Thanks so much Stoney :high-five: That helps immensely. :thanks:

And
Gorgeous!

what you’re seeing there Is a unique situation Skybound. Kid did something ‘kind of’ experimental. This Brix crew will be the furthest away you can get from gardeners who overwater. The wet/dry, or ‘parch/soak’, cycle is a basic tool in our farming practices :ganjamon:

Happy 4/20 Doc and fellow brixfits! :cheer:

Amy, how long do you veg these? If my math is right it looks like 90 + days??

Stoney my jaw is wide open right now! You answered my question and my prayers lol. I’m headed for an outdoor grow and I was hoping I could use the 1/4 strength “weaponized” foliar as both ipm and a way to deal with training stress, wind, extreme heat, etc. in my outdoor grow.
I am so happy I was able to work towards this conclusion and then you have confirmed my thoughts.

I was looking at things on an every two days scale though, I must admit. It’s not that I’m too lazy, I am lazy plenty :laughtwo: I just thought this might be too much for them. If I understand you correctly, you could do a schedule such as:
Monday - spray leaf wash
Tuesday - spray 1/4 strength Destress
Wednesday - spray 1/4 strength Brix
Thursday - spray 1/4 strength Destress
Repeating the Destress/Brix schedule until you get to the next Monday and spray Leaf Wash again?
Thanks so much Stoney :high-five: That helps immensely. :thanks:
I couldn’t agree more this is perfect info thanks Stoney!

And the good fight for me was hitting them every 4 days, for like 6 times. No more mites !! Knock on wood !! That's been about 3-4 yrs. ago !! Was a f---ing nightmare !!

Yes exactly. :) I was aiming for around 10 weeks but everything happened 2 weeks late this season (in the whole garden, everyone else’s too), plus that Candida CD-1 is a very slow starter. It started from seed on Nov 10 and pistil stigmas showed in the tips/tops around Feb 16. So you got it about spot on :thumb:

Ah, I keep forgetting you're outdoors. What kind of yield do you get with that long of veg?

What kind of yield?
It varies - of course. This year the raised bed didn’t yield so much. Probably 7-8oz from 2 plants in a 4x4 raised bed. But there were anomalous incidents that definitely effected yield. Last year the same plot yielded about 11oz from 2 plants with similar start times and they started flowering 2-3weeks earlier than this year’s. Different strains too. I am looking forward to the redemption grow next season!

This year I also grew one in a 13gal pot (in kit soil) from seed at the the same time and have 6.5oz from that.

And Archi, make sure you disinfect all surfaces. Are those alphids common out there ?
They are this year SP. I never noticed them last couple years but maybe the rains brought them out in big numbers.

I've never seen a real one, and don't care to !! but i've seen pics of the way they damage the roots, and I will assume that you need to hit hard and often. Does those mosquito dunks work for alphids? We don't want to kill or sicken the herd ?

Right now, leaf wash and weaponized foliars (1/4 strength) are more than enough to keep pests away. That or I’ve been fortunate thus far.

Then I guess I'm comfused? I was thinking you have root alphids ?
Not sure if what I have are root aphids or not. The ones I see hide under leaves, are about 1mm long, are green in color, and some of them turn black and grow wings and can fly away.
I should have been more clear, I am currently using weaponized foliars almost daily. This has kept them at bay and I do not see any more bugs.

Yessir, that looks juuuust fine. If you're outdoors, first thing in the morning is best, before the sun is *directly* on them. Glad that helped :)

Cheers!

Evenin Archie,..gang! Arch,..u can relax some bud, those are NOT root aphids. Easy way to tell,...put your glasses on and look at the soil up , close and move some with your finger...root aphids , u will see skurrieing out of the way. They look like little tiny worms that move faster. They are the absolute worst pest to eradicate. U can try anything you want , but will ususally kill the plant/s in the process. Wat they do is eat thru roots causing massive root death and eventually u can pull the plant right outta the pot with two fingers. Very destructable fuckers. Take a pinch or two of your soil , near the top of the pot, put it out on your counter and take a look, a real slow , close look. If you have em, you will see them.
I know all about these little $%^&!

Ahh that’s super helpful Duggan, cheers! I hope I never have to deal with them, they sound pretty bad.
