Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Cannabis does not like hot and dry.....and 80 degrees with 35% humidity is definitely hot and dry. A fan is not the answer.....moisture in the air is!

No more foliars for a bit. The soil energy is too high now, and the plant's metabolism is too low.

If you get the rH up to about 60% for 80 degrees, things will improve a lot. 50% for 78 degrees.

Use plain water for the next two dunks.....then Rescue drench. But we really can't expect awesomeness in hot, dry weather.

Regarding mixing foliars....you can make a quart, half a quart or less....just use the ratio of 1 oz per quart on Brix and 1/2 oz per quart on DeStress.

Awesome thanx doc yea I've been meaning to get to the environment jus gotta wait for my check to get here then I'll be going to get a humidifier along with a few other things. The reason I was saying a fan is cause when I put them inside a tent rh% goes up but so does heat massively so I need an extraction fan and one to bring in new air.

Ok guys at the risk of sounding really retarded here I have a question. About how many gal. Of soil can one fit in a 5gal hd bucket? They look like they will hold more then 5gal of soil or am I wrong lol? Jus wondering if my old hydro buckets (5gal) would be big enuf plastic containers to use?

I think buckets are measured in actual US gallons where as a lot of nursery pots are measured in trade gallons. You could go to google and use the converter to see how many trade gallons 5 us gallons equals.

EDIT: According to google 1 trade gallon equals .75 us gallons. So a 5 gallon bucket equals a 6.67 gallon nursery pot.

The HD bucket holds about 5.4 gallons when completely filled and the #7 nursery container (recommended MINIMUM size) holds slightly more than 6 gallons.

Depends on the way we are looking at it

I always thought it was because of the Dry to Liquid weight conversion

Dry measurements are not typically used in U.S. recipes; dry measurements are used mainly for measuring fresh produce (e.g. berries are sold by the quart, apples by the bushel, or peck). Do not confuse dry measure with liquid measure, because they are not the same.

The table below shows the differences between dry measurement and liquid measurement.

DRY UNIT..............LIQUID UNIT
1 pint, dry = ........1.1636 pints, liquid
1 quart, dry =.......1.1636 quarts, liquid
1 gallon, dry =......1.1636 gallons, liquid

what small humidifier would you guys suggest for a 2x4?

my new house has extremely low humidity with the baseboard heating on. 25% throughout the house. I'm assuming once the tent is full it will only peak up a few % to maybe 30%.

Im looking for a humidifier that wont break the bank. any suggestions?
Hi pookss, not sure if these are available to you, but I use 2x small Homedics humidifiers in a 3x3 and they work well. They have a larger model too. They’re very clean and small and respond to power on and off from the switch, which is important when using a timer or controller. :Namaste:

These are what I use... run around 90 bucks US.

Elechomes Humidifier, 6L Warm and Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier

I’ve got two of these, and one I’ve had over a year easy. The other one is about 6 months old. They work well, but you may need to fill daily, I know I do most days. But they seem Very reliable, the only down side is you need to make a flap to cover the display on them if they will be in the tent and running 24/7. I made a simple flap out of duct tape by layering it and making it less sticky where I would be pulling it up to adjust the settings after refill.
Amy’s look nice too, and you may not need a flap...

Do any of you guys use a humidifier inside the tent. Up until now I’ve always run it outside and let the fan pull it in through a vent. But it’s not raising it enough. Low 30s is all I can get. I’ve been afraid to put it inside because of the light. I didn’t know if it would be damaged from exposure to the moisture or if it would be just fine. I would imagine most of it would be sucked right out of the tent and not hurt the light but I’ve been to scared to try. Lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just buy two el-cheapo's from whereever......when the first one fails, plug in the second. Takes about 4-5 months for a humidifier like that to fail.

Ok so im tryn to do a new way of taking clones. Instead of doing my normal hydro way of making clones im guna do them in soil. So i was wondering can i jus stick a cutting in a hole of hb soil sprinkled with roots powder in a starter pot? Or do i need to go get starter plugs so the cutting has roots b4 i put it into hb soil?

Growing from Seed
We like starting in a 1 gallon sized container of cooked High-Brix soil, making sure the soil is still slightly moist from the barrel. (Not soaking wet....but moist.)

Using a pencil, or chopstick, or even a non-functioning vape pen, we make a divot in the soil about 1/4 inch deep. Then we add a small amount of Roots! powder in and around this hole, in which we deposit the seed and lightly cover with surrounding dirt.

Gently water with 1/4 strength Transplant if needed to keep the soil moist.
Starting with Clones
Pretty much the same as seeds, but use enough Roots! to completely coat the clone's roots and put a small amount in and around the new hole. Water with 1 pint of 1/4 strength Transplant drench (that's 2-5 drops per gallon of soil in container).
Whether starting from seed or clone, if you see a pattern of under-fed plants early in the vegetative phase, make a note of it and use a normal strength Transplant drench for the initial planting of the seed or clone the next time you grow it.
Transplanting
Vertically score the rootball, dust all roots with Roots!, place some in the bottom of the hole, gently position rootball, fill-in with soil and soak with water and 1/4 strength Transplant drench.

HOW TO REMOVE PLANT FROM OLD POT.
Vertically score the rootball, dust all roots with Roots!, place some in the bottom of the hole, gently position rootball, fill-in with soil and soak the medium with water and 1/4 strength Transplant.

Water all seeds, all newly transplanted clones, and newly transplanted vegging plants with 1/4 strength Transplant.
Apply Transplant Root Drench
Water all seeds, all newly transplanted clones, and newly transplanted vegging plants with 1/4 strength of Transplant.

I'll check amazon for some cheap-o's!

edit: Turns out I already have one in storage i forgot about. Buying new filters tonight for it. Tents set up, seeds are being germinated. First high brix grow is a few days away :D

You can make it as simple as just sticking a cut right into dirt. :slide: The dirt should be wet, not just moist. In my experience it doesn't work much better when you complicate it with plugs or special soils. If it's gonna take, it'll take.

I've just dipped cuts in simple rooting powder, stuck'em in cups or small pots, dribbled a spoonful of water around the stem every couple days, and they'll root as easy as any method if the environment is right. High humidity, low light, 65 degree soil temps.

PotChimp pokes his lower trimmings right into that soil when he's cleaning up, and a buncha times they've taken right there. :)

Thanx gray much appreciated brotha. I jus wana start getn healthier plamts so figured get my environment dialed in better an then do clones via soil instead of hydro so they dont develope water roots but end up super healthy an able 2 stand soil better. But yeah thanx again for the help man :Namaste:.
