DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

Ask and ye shall receive! 13F!

I have all but LA1 on small containers to boost them a couple of inches. It has helped to even the canopy, and the stretch last night was insignificant.

j01f13-all-002-900x600.jpg

With LA1 I'm trying to tuck top sites and leaves to get the best exposure. Some of them seem to be benefiting from the additional exposure.

I'm not sure if LA2 is better or worse equipped to yield, but it's definitely the healthier looking plant.

24K1 is as sensitive as ever. Looking great except for the burnt tips. Any suggestions? I've been taking the nutes lower and lower. I think it may be pH sensitivity and the only way I'm even going to solve it completely is to get a RO system.

Thanks for following along!

Man they are some healthy and beautiful looking plant genetics. I'm gonna keep an eye on these bad ass chicks .

Sorry guys I've posted my trichome questions to the wrong thread, I didn't mean to jack your thread, my sincere apologies it was for the ask us anything thread.... my bad .

No worries KushGod, I have no issues with others posting up in here. That said your question is beyond my expertise so I can't help, but maybe someone else can. The Ask Us Anything thread is a good bet though!

Thanks for stopping by in any case, all are welcome in here! I'm hoping to get some new pics up tonight, should make for a good comparison to see how they're looking after a couple of days in a much improved environment!

Big updates coming! I'm going to break it up into 2 - I'll post the veg updates first, then the flower updates. So, here's what's going on in veg!

First off, it's 37V - at least for the LA2 clone, Kushy Kush, and Chocolope. I took the revegging 24K2 clones 2 weeks ago, so they're at 15V IIRC. So it's a slow process to start for these ladies but they're getting there.

j02v37-all-001-800x600.jpg

Chocolope was the first to get my attention tonight. She was topped twice over, then had her second nodes cleaned, leaving nodes 1 and 3 after topping. This has effectively created the 8 colas that form the base of my manifold.

j02v37-CH1-001-800x600.jpg

I'm using the Nebula manifolding method - I'd link, but I'm not sure of the rules (it's easy to find). It's an update to the Nugbuckets mainline technique.

Ase's journal makes a strong argument for his training method, and it seems a lot of folks use similar ideas to success here. I expect to try training like that soon, but I wanted to see how involved and long the training for manifolding was first. Chocolope is scheduled to go into flower when 24K Gold comes out, so it still has 5ish weeks. I'm actually worried about how tall it might get with so much time to recover and mature - the plan is to pot up to a 5g and give it half the flower tent.

j02v37-CH1-002-800x600.jpg

Quick shout out to the community here for the ideas around how to train - I'm betting Canada Guy and FlowerNose at a minimum could see some familiar tools used for training.

The 24K2 clones now look to have 4 of 6 rooted and starting veg growth, although I can only see roots at the bottom drains on 3 of the 4. Take a guess as to which 4!

j02v37-24K2-001-800x600.jpg

I'm frustrated with rockwool - it seems that every time I start a clone in it, I get that green algae which I'm sure is a result of the cube retaining water. I'm going to have to try another starting medium next time - probably the Rapid Rooters everyone seems to have success with.

I'm a big fan of this little guy. I broke what would have been a top that reached the canopy and when the stretch went crazy, these little tops were left behind on the top of the broken stalk. Given how old and close to the base the original growth was I thought it had a great chance to root, and sure enough, it has.

j02v37-24K2-002-800x600.jpg

I'm going to let all of them get comfy in the solo cups then pot up to 1 gallon plastic pots. I liked them a lot with the veg girls that just used them (KK, LA2, and Chocolope) and feel comfortable with potting up after a couple of less than perfect attempts. I'm going to leave any growth that's not toast like these leaves until I pot up, and clean the useless old nodes on each clone down to the stalk and get their base far lower in the coco. Should I scarify the stem that will be newly under the surface to encourage root growth?

Plan for these ladies is to flower the best candidates once Kushy Kush and LA2 round 2 come out in early October, so they have about 2.5 months to find their feet. I'm considering making one a mother and keeping it around for a while if I enjoy it!

Finally Kushy Kush and LA2. As I mentioned, I've been experimenting with some aggressive defoliation to see how it affects the plants, as I have the luxury of recovery time.

Kushy Kush, which has been surprisingly vigorous since I potted up. No idea what to expect from this strain, and since I hate the name I'm predisposed to be hard on it!

j02v37-KK1-001-800x600.jpg

If LA2 is still ahead of KK, it's not by much. She's had less defoliation and it appears the more aggressively chopped Kushy Kush has almost reeled her in, but maybe I'm seeing things. But either way, LA2 looks good even with my unsightly defoliation.

I'll get some flower updates up shortly! I'm happy with where things stand, hopefully the photos will reflect that.

Looking good Dobe, manifolding takes time to do right. I just top and lst to open up the middle now. Ill untie before i flip to get vertical going. Yields well.

They are looking great Dobe!, you can also pull those 4 centers back at 45 degrees after they start to develop a little more, it will look like that big bushy gal in the back right corner of my scrog...I also topped everything that I pulled back.

Were your clones showing flower? Mine were and that slowed them down a bit, but the interesting thing is where every dead or dying fan I cut off during the process so far, I have little growth showing at those nodes. I will post some pictures tomorrow. I won't be burying that stem to far in the Coco or Hydroton, and as far as counting veg time, now that the roots are well developed and I see new stuff developing I am considering this the first week of veg and started the 18/6 light schedule.

Cant wait to see your:thumb: flower ladies!

And now to the real fun part - the flower tent! We're at 37F, and progress has finally gotten a kick in the butt - hopefully not too late for these ladies to go crazy! Speaking of going crazy, I took a ton of pics - we're 4 days since my last update of any size, so I guess I was due.

The tent is doing really well since the big changes a few days back. Everything has settled in and the progress the last couple of nights really proves that. I am keeping a window open to the adjacent room, keeping the door to the room with my tents open and keeping the tent door open. I'm also using a number of fans to circulate the air. The net result is not exceeding 27c throughout lights on, and mostly sitting below 26c and at around 50% humidity.

j02f37-all-001-800x600.jpg

And the ladies have responded. All 4, top to bottom. The growth the last few days has me really encouraged, and I can't wait to apply everything I've been learning to future grows. But I'm also increasingly encouraged for my upcoming harvest. We're about halfway there on the 24K Golds with 5+ weeks left, and the LA Confidentials are 3+ weeks from being done.

j02f37-all-002-800x600.jpg

One issue I've found, likely by adding the side lighting as much as anything, is that even with protective grow glasses on, my eyes are getting easily irritated by all the light. I've been turning the side lighting off while I work but it's still not perfect. Does anyone have a recommended pair of protective eyewear for use in the tent?

LA Confidential 1 is seeing some nice growth in her man cola. It's filling in. The canopy below is also fattening up at each site.

j02f37-LA1-003-600x800.jpg

LA Confidential 2 was my first surprise. She's filled in a lot more in the last few days than she had been previously, and wasn't looking that promising for a while. She's starting to get some encouraging swell.

The 24K Golds are still the clear winners though. They're fattening up really nicely in the last few days, and I can't wait to see how they finish up.

24k Gold aka Kosher Tangie 1 is the weaker of the two 24Ks but still features a lot of impressive growth.

Hope everyone enjoyed the big updates tonight - I certainly enjoyed making them! It feels great to show things off after some solid progress! :thumb:

Yeah who knows if I'll stick with it after this attempt. But I figured with some time to play around, I might as well see what I can learn. Doing it with the Chocolope won't make or break me either. Should be fun to attempt!

Yeah, I figured I would get those back from the middle, but with her a little stressed now after the big defoliation and topping, I'm not going to push my luck yet!

My clones were showing flower, you can see pistils if you look closely. So that's definitely slowing the process. I was pretty lazy with those clones, in that I left the stalks fairly long and left leaves most people would take off. That's why I want to trim the old stuff and get them set deeper when I transplant if I can.

I'm not too concerned about what I call it in terms of days at this point - these ladies are off the clock!

:party::adore::yahoo::allgood:

And you have a few more weeks to watch them swell more! I have the feeling August is going to be an exciting month!:thumb:

I can't wait - the feeling from that first harvest is going to be so amazing. I started out a few months back wondering if I could even pull off growing my own, and now I'm getting truly excited about the prospects this "hobby" has to offer. One thing I'm really excited for is having old smoking buddies try what I've grown - sharing my own produce with my old friends is going to be fantastic.

I agree, and will be doing the same...while where I am at it is still verboten, and I don't really want anyone but my good friends here to know I grow, I will just have a doobie test, give them the old line of this is all I could score and watch the results...that is after I test it myself!:laughtwo:

While growing and buying is legal for me, I'm technically not allowed to share what I grow or buy with anyone. So of course any comments I make on here about sharing anything with anyone are fictitious and purely for entertainment purposes. I expect it will change when Canada legalizes next year and anyone can posses it. Although Health Canada will probably still want to distinguish between my medical supply and the recreational supply. My medical grow limit is significantly higher than the proposed recreational limit.

That is kind of the same here, I am fictitious and not a real person, this is a role play site and I am one of the many characters playing the role of a perfect government free life along with other fictitious characters I associate with on this site. Any props or photos of props I or others use are not real and should not be construed as real, and anyone reading what is posted here by the caricature I, or others play on this thread or any other thread I post on this site should not consider it real, the purpose of this thread or any other threads I post on are for entertainment values only.:rofl::rofl:

Glad I got that out of the way...Did you get tomorrows script? :laughtwo:

I would hope that the USA gets its head out of its ass and does the same as Canada...It would be nice to see it before I take a dirt nap!:thumb:

Love it, OTM! :) Let's just all use that legal disclaimer as our signature.

My dream is for everyone to just decriminalize it. Legalizing is a whole different ball of wax with many consequences. *sigh*
