DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

I only just got the pen with my last orders, OTM, so I haven't been checking closely yet to know the numbers. But I was getting burn above 500 PPM. My veg LA2 clone has been getting the full 100% all the way through veg, whereas I've had to chop the recommended amounts in half throughout this grow with the same genetics. I wonder how much my early pH issues contributed to the sensitivity these ladies had to nutes.

Well, that was a ton of work, considering I had to pour, pH, and haul what must have been 10 14L buckets of water. But it's done and I feel better for having done it.

The only unfortunate part was that in shuffling everything around I accidentally "supercropped" a 24K2 cola in 2 places. Having it bent in 2 places made it very difficult to stabilize, as it kept bending back over at one point or the other, and although I eventually did get it stable with tape and supporting "splints", I feel like I did a lot of damage to the higher of the two points with all of the bending. I hope it doesn't die as it's a very nice little cola - they all are on 24K2!

The upside of all that work was working with the 24Ks. They smell like creamsicles! Can't wait to see what it smells like and tastes like after curing!

My broken cola is still standing, and nothing is wilting, although she's not standing straight like I'd hoped being under the light all night would do.

I taped over the bent points and used ties to hold the stem in place at both points. Is there anything else I can or should do to give it the best chance of pulling through?

Yep, I'm hoping for the best! Would break my heart to have to toss a cola at this point, but at the same time, I'm surprised it has taken me this long to properly damage a branch in flower! I've snagged them many times in my tight work area.

For what it's worth my K deficiency symptoms progressed overnight after the flush, but not by a great deal. The leaves with the burnt edges did not go completely fried. I'm going to take it easy on feeding tonight - 25% nutes - and see how they look again tomorrow. Hopefully in a few days I will have turned the tide completely and see some more bud fattening. Sucks to have damaged what I damaged, but luckily the 24Ks are minimally affected. The poor LAs have been through a lot. But as soon as I pull them, LA2 clone goes in for a chance to redeem myself!

Feels like a pain in the ass to have to flush again soon, but at least I shouldn't have build up. My trichomes look glassy based on my 20x magnification, but some of the hairs are turning colour, so perhaps trichomes are getting milky too, I just can't be certain at this magnification. I think I still have 3+ weeks left but what do I know.

Sounds like you're right on schedule man. Good things comin'!!

A few quick pics. No Bic, but a Sharpie! :;):

This is 40F, so we're in the 2nd half of week 6. Hopefully the yellowing stops and things kick in strong again in the next few days.

Breeder has LA Confidential at 7-8 weeks, 24K Gold at 9-10 weeks. I guessed they'd be more like 9-10 and 11-12. What do you guys think based on the photos? I have no idea without having done this before.

LA Confidential 1 - Having a tough time with the yellowing, but the main cola and the tops clustered into a canopy below it have decent buds, better than the buds on LA2 even.

LA Confidential 2 - Also struggling with the K deficiency, she has the smallest bud sites of all plants. She's going to disappoint in yield, but if the quality is there I'll be looking forward to her clone going into flower as soon as she comes out, to see how much better I can do it a second time.

24K Gold aka Kosher Tangie 1 - Hard to get a shot with her in the back, but she's looking good - similar quality to 24K2 just a smaller stature and smaller yield coming. She and her sister smell great, the smells last night during flush were amazing. They smell and look exactly the same though, and have all through flower, so I'm convinced they're the same phenotype. I'll have to pop beans of 24K in the future to try the other phenotypes.

24K Gold aka Kosher Tangie 2 - First off, the sad but surviving cola. I had her propped next to the T5s last night and she was still standing with no real sign of wilting. Jostling her to water (and examine - doh) had her falling over again after watering, so I laid her against a strong stalk and put the cola directly under the lamp. So we'll see what happens. 24K2 is looking great otherwise, lots of nice colas in the top canopy and plenty of solid buds down below too.

That LA 1 leaf problem looks a lot like what is happening to one of the Widow gals in the RDWC, kind of a slow developing yellow to brown spots in the middle of the leaf, mine has noticeable curl or twisting of the leaf, its only affecting certain branches, not the whole plant or any other gals in the system.

Skunk labs suggested I raise the PH to 6.0 from the 5.7-5.8 its been running, they think this plant is locking out Cal/Mag because it was the last to show flower and is probably behind the rest of the gals as far as maturity for the nute bump recommended in flower. I did that and have not seen anything spreading or any effect on the others in the system, so next nute change I plan on bumping up the PH a bit and running the same PPM's.

This is the only real problem I have noticed this entire grow, in veg I was always PH'ing down, since the 4th week in bloom I am PH'ing up, and now its showing up? :nomo:

My cheap $13.99 USB microscope is supposed to arrive tomorrow so close-up photography play time is here! :goof:

My USB scope was just delivered this morning. We continue to be connected OTM. Unfortunately no old beans here, but I am going to ask my dad this weekend if he'd send up some old High Times for me to check out! I don't think he will though - he'll probably be too protective of them!

I don't think my K deficiency and my leaf issues on the LA1 are linked, but I do think there's a chance it's a similar root cause as it might be for you. I had only yellow mottling, no brown or leaf damage. I had pHing issues in early veg, but I thought the issue was light burn, only to find it lower in the plant than expected. It didn't seem to affect growth much and didn't impact other plants, so I largely left it alone. PH and Cal/Mag is a fine explanation though and I did buy CalMag to start incorporating.

What is your N P K ratio at this point? I think my Cherry Bomb is having the same problem. I came up with K deficiency as well. Gonna flush today and then give it a balanced set of nutes a couple hundred PPM down from where I normally would. I'll let you know if it helps.

Ase, I'll give you NPK specifics later as I don't know the answer off hand, and I'm about to water. But I wanted to update after opening the tent.

As a reminder, I did a full flush 2 nights ago, my first real flush in flower. I got everything down to within 10 or so PPM of what comes out of the tap (30ish above what I end up at after letting the water stand). I put a ton of water through the ladies.

Last night I fed 25% nutes.

Visually, it's not really any different tonight from 24 hours ago - I compared an LA2 fan and there is no progress of the K deficiency visual symptoms. So my initial take is that I diagnosed correctly and that the steps I've taken have helped! Woohoo! I'm going to increase to 50% nutes tonight and see where I stand tomorrow.

Oh, I also got the microscope and took it for a test drive! Everything looking clear and glassy on both plants. Still time to fatten up and get closer to my goal!

Yeah I think it usually takes about 3 days to really see a change. I just realized that my girl is on day 82 and it's supposed to be a 70-75 day auto. I've still got white hairs everywhere so I have no idea how long mine will go for but likely not more than a couple more weeks. I likely will just make a half PPM balanced batch and see if she likes that instead of full flushing being at the end of flower.
