DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

With all these freebies I don't doubt it! I'm glad I got those Haze freebies, never would have bought them on my own but I bet they'll be nice. Now to find time to grow them!

Good to know. Speaking of which if you or anyone had any good links around late flower and harvesting feel free to post them up. I'm into week 6 today. The LA Confidential is supposed to go 7-8 weeks but poking around online I couldn't find anyone who pulled earlier than 65 days, and most seemed to pull around 70-71. That's 10 full weeks. I was thinking of repeating the week 5 feeding for a few more days since the ladies seem to have responded well and since my 9-week schedule is likely stretched to 10. I'm definitely repeating it for the 24Ks, although they're bigger buds they're less mature looking than the LAs. Earliest pull I saw from journals I could find for those was 71 days and Feral said he pulled early at 71. I think they're going 77+ if LA is going 70.

Thanks man! I don't know if my collection will reach your levels - but I will eventually be able to bring more to the table in time. My interest in trying new seeds definitely far exceeds my capacity to grow them at this point.

Lol. Mine too brother. Mine too. I'm sure we can do an exchange/smoke report

It's probably worn off for you over the years Mike but I'm going to be like a proud papa having other people try my stuff for the first time!

Are you kidding man? Never gets tired. Don't forget, I haven't been growing this whole time. I've just started again. And I'm more excited than ever. Especially if you and I can get together and offer each other some constructive criticism. Really excited about it. Never wears off LOL. Burns from batch to batch!!

This is definitely a hobby where the more you learn and experience, the more doors open. I'm as interested in reading up as I was in the beginning.

This fall seems like it might be ideal timing to organize a little swap... either after our current flowering plants cure, or after our next rounds are done.

I decided to make a small seed order today through sponsor site Seedsman. There were some genetics I was itching to add, and Seedsman had a ton of promos that I qualified for. I ordered 9 seeds and got another 26 seeds for free. That's just insane.

Here's what I ordered:

3x Royal Gorilla (fem) by Royal Queen Seeds
3x Violator Kush (fem) by Barney's Farm
3x Candida (CD-1) (fem) by Medical Marijuana Genetics

I've been dying to try something Gorilla Glue and see what the hype is all about. I had Violator a few times from dispensaries and found it to be exactly what I'm looking for. It's a Hindu Kush x Malana cross, and has that sleepytime physical stone I need in my life. Candida is basically the beginning of growing for 2.

Here's what I got for free, I'd love to know if anyone has grown any of these and if so, what they thought.

1x Critical (fem) by Royal Queen Seeds
2x Amnesia Haze (fem) by Royal Queen Seeds
3x Liberty Haze (fem) by Barney's Farm
7x White Widow (fem) by Seedsman
2x Jack Herer (fem) by Seedsman
2x Blueberry (fem) by Seedsman

2x Diesel Auto by Royal Queen Seeds
2x The White Train Auto by Mephisto Genetics
2x Critical Ogre Auto by Joint Doctor
2x Blue Dream or Bubba Kush Auto by Humboldt (not sure which, it didn't let me pick)

... and a 4th free Candida seed.

I still have LA Confidential, 24K Gold, and Chocolope in seed as well. I can see how adding genetics to the stable can be addictive.
Awesome list. I've grew the royal queen critical and liberty haze with the haze being A+ top shelf and the critical being a B+ bt a heavy yielder. I also have a royal gorilla currently vegging so I know how u feel about wanting to try a gg strain!

Couple of quick flower close ups I took last night to get an idea of how they compare. Colour is a bit off because I took it under blurple then leveled it. 24K looks bright green, not the dark and purple of the photo. But it should give an idea of where things are. I think 24K is going at least a week longer than LA but I'm guessing.

Missed this earlier Jgrow. I was pretty intrigued about the Liberty Haze, that's the bonus seed I'm most interested to try, awesome to hear it's a top shelf seed! Are you going to include the Royal Gorilla in your journal? I didn't notice it in there before but I'd love to see how it turns out for you.

Sounds like you have it all dialed in. You happy with the new light?

Only a couple of days in with it, and only since last night did I get things figured out environment wise, so the jury is still out. But it definitely seems like it packs a punch far beyond what I had before. I've more than doubled the wattage and added side lighting, and I've brought my RH down 10% and my temperature down to not exceed 80f, so I can't imagine not seeing results in the next few weeks in the flower tent. The veg tent seems like a cute little diversion in comparison!

It'll be really interesting to compare my next run of LA2 with this one, with the learnings from round 1. It's going to be cool to compare yield and potency.

Just a text update tonight - Game of Thrones and my bed both beckon, and I type far more quickly than I prep photos, so photos will have to wait. TLDR: best day over day growth yet in the flower tent, and a lot of action in the veg tent, including seeing roots on 3 24K2 revegging clones!

Now the long version...

Blaze asked about how I felt with the new light. I stare at these plants whenever possible, so it can be hard to tell when the progress is or isn't good. The first couple of nights under the new light, it was hard to tell that the progress had been altered. But since last night, the progress is clearly noticeable. I can see quicker progress on the LA Confidential than I think I've seen in a day yet. And the proof was in the feeding - the plants took about 50% more water than usual. There's no way that extra water just evaporated under the light - the plants' needs have increased. I like what that means!

I fed week 5 (with liquid KoolBloom) again. I'm going to repeat "week 5" for the LA Confidential for the remainder of this week I think (to the end of week 6), feed my week 4/6+ solution the following week, and by then hopefully I'll be making the call to flush and switch to plain water. I'm going to repeat "week 5" for the 24Ks as well, who also got an extra "week 3" (the first KoolBloom week). I'll either switch the 24Ks to "week 4/6+" next week as well, or feed KoolBloom again.

The veg tent had action of its own.

LA2 (clone in veg) got some moderately aggressive defol - I took 2 pairs of fans that were blocking bud sides in the last couple of days in an effort to get the middle exposed and get better top growth further down and earlier in the process. Kushy Kush got more aggressive defol - I've taken 4 sets of fans in the last 3 days. Given that both were tracking closely to one another, I figure this will be a good look at which defoliation is more beneficial, and also slow down the growth of the main cola. With 3+ weeks to wait I figure both could easily get out of hand with the way they have churned out growth since getting potted up and then moved under the LED. I'm trying to bush them up a bit while retaining the Christmas tree profile and lack of topping and training.

Just training for Chocolope, but she'll get topped x2 tomorrow, creating the base of the manifold. Once she recovers, she'll get potted up to a 5 gallon and then get whatever time in veg is left before the 24Ks come out (5ish weeks from now I think).

Final veg update, and this is an important one after my 24K2 clone failed to root. Of the week 3 flower clones I took 2 weeks ago, I have visual confirmation of roots on 3 of them, and the other 3 all still look like they might root (or have rooted) as well - I could swear I see new veg growth on at least 2 of them, and while the bottom leaves have been sucked of most of their green the tops look green. 24K2 is quite clearly the star of the show in flower, so while I might pop other 24K beans and find plants I like better, at a minimum I have what I need to get a mother going, or keep 24K2 genetics going via more clones for at least a round 2. If I find I like it a lot, I'll make the most vigorous clone into a new mother and keep the strain around for a while. I could also pop more beans to hunt for the other phenos since I appear to have gotten the same pheno in both of my plants.

Awesome man. I hope to see a similar improvement soon as well. Looking forward to those pics when you get a chance.

Thanks! It has definitely been a lot of work lately but hopefully that will translate into results - now and in the future. I got a ton of clean up and organization of my space and gear done this weekend after everything arrived last week, and I feel like I'm set for the foreseeable future so now I can just concentrate on results. Can't wait to take my first harvest!

So I have one little Master Kush I decided to flower earlier and in a much smaller pot than the rest of the crop. Basically I wanted an early taster of what to expect when the big sisters has flowered. I don't expect much off her but a sample smoke and to make a banging space cake and I'm just wondering where you guys think these trichome are at as I've lost my jewellers loupe .I think she's ripe but without a loupe it's hard to make those trichomes out and I'm sure I only see clear and cloudy but no amber? I want a more couch lock high with a bit of creativity at first so where am I at guys? Don't worry the new loupe is ordered .

To be honest I'd like her out of the way to create some extra garden space and she was purely grown as a taster. August the 1st is the day I'd worked out to 8 weeks so I'm now at the start of week 7. Shall I wait another week for amber or just bloody go for it? The calyxes aren't as swollen as I'd like so I'm in two minds guys .
