DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

I set up 2 fans above the canopy and 2 blowing along the length of the side lighting. Hung the temperature and humidity sensor right in the middle of the flowers, so it's under the light which might be driving the reading higher.

On the sensor, the temperature peaked and held at 28c (82f) throughout the night with lights on. Humidity stayed around 55% which is lower than when I had less light. I have an analog thermometer on the side of the tent as well that was reading 26c (79f). It was right at canopy height but in the corner, so the direct light was weakest.

It's worth noting I don't have the veg lighting on on the main light - just the flower setting. I could turn off the side lighting, and swap temperature for humidity. I could turn off the side lighting and turn ON the veg light, and likely see similar temperature.

I think my best bet might be to leave it as is, but open the top couple of inches of the doors during lights on so that some additional heat can escape. If I forget to close them during lights off, there should be no bleed from the veg tent as I only have ports open on the opposite side from the flower tent.

I just don't want to impact yield or potency negatively.

Taking a break between watering the flower and veg tents, and I thought I'd share a photo of how the flower tent is set up now.

I made one last environmental adjustment - I disconnected the cold air return piping and pointed the flow instead to the area of the flower tent's left intake. I figure that should at least ensure the 22c ambient air in the basement is flowing in a bit better.

I figure I'd turn everything on - including both the veg and flower light settings and all 4 T5s - and see where I stand with the tent closed. If it's still too high, I'll turn components off until I find the right fit.

I usually keep my tent open during lights on when im home

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm going to have a choice unless I want to sacrifice light. I'm hitting 29c (84f) with everything on and closed up. I'll keep playing with it to see if I can find the happy medium.

I'm aiming to move into a bigger house in the next 2-3 years, I'm definitely going to aim for a dedicated AC'ed room in which to house the tents when I do.

84 isnt ideal but isnt bad really

I tried opening the window in the next room to help with air flow. I'm at 77 with everything open, just the flower lights on and only 2 of the T5s on. You think I'd get more benefit from turning on the veg lights on the lamp, or turning on the 2nd set of T5s? I'm going to try the veg lights on to see where it puts me.

I decided to make a small seed order today through sponsor site Seedsman. There were some genetics I was itching to add, and Seedsman had a ton of promos that I qualified for. I ordered 9 seeds and got another 26 seeds for free. That's just insane.

Here's what I ordered:

3x Royal Gorilla (fem) by Royal Queen Seeds
3x Violator Kush (fem) by Barney's Farm
3x Candida (CD-1) (fem) by Medical Marijuana Genetics

I've been dying to try something Gorilla Glue and see what the hype is all about. I had Violator a few times from dispensaries and found it to be exactly what I'm looking for. It's a Hindu Kush x Malana cross, and has that sleepytime physical stone I need in my life. Candida is basically the beginning of growing for 2.

Here's what I got for free, I'd love to know if anyone has grown any of these and if so, what they thought.

1x Critical (fem) by Royal Queen Seeds
2x Amnesia Haze (fem) by Royal Queen Seeds
3x Liberty Haze (fem) by Barney's Farm
7x White Widow (fem) by Seedsman
2x Jack Herer (fem) by Seedsman
2x Blueberry (fem) by Seedsman

2x Diesel Auto by Royal Queen Seeds
2x The White Train Auto by Mephisto Genetics
2x Critical Ogre Auto by Joint Doctor
2x Blue Dream or Bubba Kush Auto by Humboldt (not sure which, it didn't let me pick)

... and a 4th free Candida seed.

I still have LA Confidential, 24K Gold, and Chocolope in seed as well. I can see how adding genetics to the stable can be addictive.

Id use the veg lights

I turned them all on and left the window open. With the cooler outside air coming in, I'm staying down at 77 with the tent left open. And that's with the grow room door closed, so no light bleed if I failed to close it back up before lights out. I'm thinking I might have found my sweet spot. I'd be really happy with 77 at lights on, 72 at lights out.

I filled the pot more before the transplant and watered because I wanted to give the coco and perlite a chance to soak in the water for a little while - didn't want additional shock of higher pH than expected. Did you see any signs of shock the way you did it? It certainly seems far easier - I spilled a ton of coco myself when I was filling up the smart pots, but as this journal has shown time and again, I'm clumsy!

All I had was droopy leaves when done, I did it about 2 hours befor lights out and the next morning the looked like nothing happened.:thumb:

Any sense in putting a fan outside the tent too? I figured the fan running inside the tent would suck air in through the intake without having to add any fan. If I hold a tissue to the intake it sticks to it, so the airflow is definitely going in as it stands. But that's unfinished basement so it doesn't have great air circulation in the room.

I have a fan blowing in my grow room through the filter system I set up in the outside room, if the temp of your outside room is less than inside your tent, blow it in!:cheer:

That's a nice haul! That should keep you busy for the next 2 years!:laughtwo:

Id be happy with 77 also, mine runs low 80's

Nice! My Kushy Kush bounced back way quicker than expected, and my LA Confidential barely missed a beat. Both were back to clearly growing well again yesterday, so I did some defoliation to try to get the tops moving. I figure the more I experiment with defoliation, the more I learn how the plant responds, and even if I make mistakes I'll benefit in the long run!

Hijacking the cold air return definitely helped!

It's going to be much easier in the winter, when the heat gets turned down overnight and the house stays dry and cools quickly. But in the summer, it's actually cooler in our basement in the daytime because the AC is running with people home. Overnight, it's cooler outside and the AC isn't running, so the basement actually warms without a steady feed of cool air. That's when I have the lights on. I left the window open and the tent door open last night, and got the first 6 hours around 77, the last 6 around 80. RH around 50% which is 10% better than where I was a few days ago. And best of all, now it's with the bigger lamp and side lighting!

I got up around 80 for the second half of lights on but altogether I'm pretty happy knowing I can get it to a comfy temperature with a few small adjustments. Love getting all that light on the ladies. I think I'm getting about 574 watts (418 from the LED and 156 from the T5HOs) now vs the 276 I had a few days ago before the upgrade!

Looks Freaking GREAT in there DB!! And your order looks great too!! Glad you live so close .
Thanks man! I don't know if my collection will reach your levels - but I will eventually be able to bring more to the table in time. My interest in trying new seeds definitely far exceeds my capacity to grow them at this point.
