DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

Not sure how you mean PW. I figured stirring up the air down low - below, and at canopy level - was going to get hot, humid air to rise up and get dehumidified / pulled out through the carbon filter and inline fan. I have one fan right above the pot height, blowing horizontally across the top of the pots. But it's a tiny one. The second was up in a corner blowing down, and I moved it to blow across as canopy height.

Are you saying keep the fans higher up in the tent? I'm just using tiny little desktop fans for what it's worth. I'll have floor space for better options when I move into the 4x4 at the end of the week.

A few shots from the veg tent. These ladies have been under T5s since 6/18. I finally started to get decent veg growth in the last week after returning from a few days away and potting up.

From left to right:

- LA Confidential 2, grown from a clone cut on 6/18.
- Kushy Kush 1, grown from a seed planted on 6/18.
- Chocolope 1, grown from a seed planted on 6/18.

LA Confidential 2: This clone started slow but growth in the last week has been steady and strong. Bottom set of fans is basically dead, and the second set is damaged but appears to have stabilized. I figured I'd remove the worst leaves soon.

What's the plan for LA2?: LA2 is going to take the first available spot in my flower tent. My flowering LAs should come out in about 4 weeks, at which point this lady will go into flower. I figure after 4 weeks she'll be more than ready and in fact, I'm concerned about her height, especially since I don't want to top. I'm going to pot her up into a 3 gallon smart pot, but I might wait a little longer as she's still thriving in the 1 gallon plastic pot she's in.

Kushy Kush 1: Growth has really picked up in the last week on this girl as well. She's not quite as far along as LA2 - in size or maturity - but isn't far behind.

What's the plan for KK1?: KK1 will also get potted up soon to her final 3 gallon smart pot, and will go into the flower tent as soon as a spot is available in about 4 weeks.

Chocolope 1: I started the process to manifold this lady on the weekend. I let her get to 6 nodes, then topped down to 3, and removed all but the top pair of fan leaves and new tops. I'm now training the tops to grow out horizontally. When they get to 4 nodes, I plan to top both down to 3 nodes, remove all growth from the second node, and let nodes 1 and 3 grow on either side. This should give me 8 main colas in total - 2 per side.

What's the plan for CH1?: Chocolope is going to take a little longer route to the finish line. Manifolding will slow veg growth, but that's not such a bad thing. My flowering 24K ladies have 5-6 weeks left. I'm going to use that time to work the manifold, and I'm going to pot her up when she's ready to a 5 gallon smart pot. She'll take the place of both 24K ladies when they're done, getting half of the 4x4 to herself, and I'm going to shoot for a bigger yield from her.

Finally here are the clones I cut a week ago of 24K2 during defoliation.

Last night was their first without the humidity dome - I took it off at lights on about 15 hours ago. Leaves are obviously drooping but 5/6 stalks are in solid shape. The rockwool cubes dried significantly overnight. I'm thinking I'll leave them with their remaining water in the cubes until lights out (2.5 hours), and then after lights on, transplant them into solo cups, start watering them like seedlings, and put them under more direct light.

The plan for this journal always was and continues to be to document my initial grow. I'll be closing it up in about 2 months when the show with the 24Ks is over and I've cured and reported on it. I may start a new perpetual journal, I may not - we'll see. The journal experience has been amazing for me - I've met a ton of you awesome folks and gotten so much help. But it's very time consuming too. Maybe I'll do a perpetual, and just slow the frequency of photo updates. I'll give it some thought.

Thanks for following to this point!

Ok if you can wait until then you can set up a little easier hopefully. I have 1 fan just above the canopy and 1 pointed right at my light.

Only have to wait a few days, I'm sure the ladies will be fine in the meantime. Just want to get things as close to perfect as I can, you know?

I'm pumped for the new light to come!

So excited for you and your new gear! You are going to have a wonderful perpetual setup that is ready to tackle anything. Keep rocking and rolling, Dobe.

Been thinking of your wife lately. Hope she is well!

Thanks Lady A! My wife just had a checkup with her rheumatologist Friday and it went well, considering the events of the last year. She stopped daily Prednisone so that's a step! Her biologic is slowly kicking in more and more. Hopefully it keeps working and she gets to remission by the fall. It has been a rough last few months as we've had a very wet spring and summer and she feels it worse in her joints when it's damp. But there is clear progress in the right direction. She's almost at the point of being able to try MMJ too - should be this summer and I have a 1:1 Kush and a 1:1 Haze set aside for her to try. I'm eager for her to try soon given the turn around time on growing a CBD strain from seed. I also really want the Magical Butter Machine but have spent too much lately and I'd be better able to justify digging into savings if it was for her too! :;):

For roughly the last week when I opened the flower tent, the smell has been a strong cat piss smell - the smell I associate with poorly cured dispensary Nuken, for better or worse (the Ottawa dispensaries had a lot of Nuken over the winter, and it tasted shit in the winter, but wonderful in the spring after months in glass). A pretty obvious weed smell in any case.

I thought for some misguided reason that it was the 24K Gold that was stinking up my tent because the flowers looked more mature. Not so. The LA Confidential smell came earlier - which makes sense since it's supposed to flower 2 weeks earlier. Well, tonight the 24K Gold smell has overpowered it.

I've been getting my wife to do a smell test and her answer is invariably "weed" when I ask her what the plants smell like. She conceded that pine was in there too in recent weeks. Tonight, she took a sniff of the 24K flowers and said "fruit". I said "oranges?" and she said, "yeah, oranges!".

I'm sitting in my office now and my fingers smell like oranges. Well, maybe weed too. But weed and oranges. :thumb:

Mine help the sides a lot. Also ads a bit of blue on top of my hps.

I have 4 6400k Sunblaster T5HOs - I figure I can rig up 2 per side fairly easily, or even ring them around the whole tent if I'm really ambitious. I should get 3-4+ weeks of them on the LAs and 5-6+ on the 24Ks if my LED arrives before the weekend.

So happy to hear of the progress for your wife. Continued healing thoughts! Excited for you both that she will be able to try MMJ soon, and of course that means you should invest in the magical butter machine.

You are going to have a fantastic light setup for your garden. Getting jealous over here! Trying to decide what should be next - the COBs have me very intrigued.

You have to quite fingering them stinky ladies Dobe! :laughtwo:

I think your plans for your perpetual are on track, when the rest of your investment arrives and you get two dedicated tents set up with all the goodies, its a matter of timing, and since they are all photo, you can be as selective as you deem fit.

I am hoping that you and your better half will benefit from all your hard work!.:goodjob:

Citrus/pine/weed smell is my favorite. Sounds like you are currently enjoying my favorite smell. Good news with the wife. If you go to get the magical butter machine make sure to contact them and see what kind of discount they will give you for being a sponsor. I also got a refer a friend code in my email I can give you and I think it's $25 more off. No hurry whenever you decide to go with it just shoot me a hello!

COBs seem to be the way a lot of folks are going. I'd love to invest the time to research and build but with how much time I've put in so far, I figure I need to operate in my system for a while and figure out its limits, and then see where I go. I'm pretty happy with what this setup promises for me - consistent supply of what works best. Once I get in the flow of producing in this system I'll see what's next. But I've reached a level that should hopefully last me a while!

 Thanks OTM! I feel like I can get the hang of this setup. I've started to really take a longer view about what grows when now and if my 24K clones thrive I'll be backed up in the flower tent until the winter!

Thanks Ase! Maybe if I tell them what I can get it for locally they'll see what they can do. Wouldn't hurt in any case. It's too bad the shipping to Canada is so crazy, it was the same when I bought my Ardent Nova.

Amazon updated to say expected delivery of the new light / fan / filter is now tomorrow, a day early. One more day of lights on under the current lights, then a switch to the new setup tomorrow. I'm so pumped!
