DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

Here are a few quick shots of the 24K Gold in natural light - this is what we've been waiting for right? This is my buds starting to stack? I can definitely see calyxes on top of one another.

(I cut the nutes by half tonight)

It has been slow going with the new seedlings given their environment. I expect a big bump in growth once the tent is set up and they're under the LED.

That said, Chocolope has really been looking nice and healthy and is finally growing with some speed now!

So of course I had to put a stop to that!

Getting caught up with your journal and everything looks so good! You seem to be falling into a nice rhythm with your perpetual, which is not easy to do.

My veg are is under a T5 right now, and I have had the same experience with slower growth. It will do for now, but I plan to keep the T5 only for the EZ Clone. The higher intensity LEDs are preferred by my ladies.

Thanks Lady A. I'm happy that my flowering plants seem to have really gotten moving in the last couple of days - between my weekend away and my defoliation upon returning, I really set them back for a few days. But they're recovering nicely now. I was really happy when I opened the tent last night to see the progress day over day of growth of calyces. I'm so excited to get the bigger light on them next week - I got my shipping notification from Amazon on Friday! :partyboy:

Still some work to do on the rhythm of the perpetual, but I'll get there soon I think. It'll be interesting when plants finish - will I decide to throw new plants in immediately, or wait for the tent to clear and give it a proper cleaning? I'm a bit of a detail person - I like my checklists and spreadsheets. I feel like I need to improve my supporting materials quickly as things get more complex to manage or I'll make mistakes. Where I am with that might influence my decision as well.

Exactly the same story here Lady A. I saw a big improvement after potting up but the growth in solo cups was markedly slower than round 1 under LED. As it is, I'm just taking a little break from getting my work area cleared out and cleaned up for the 4x4. I want to have everything set up this weekend so that when the light arrives, my veg ladies get under it immediately. It's really important for the manifold I'm trying with Chocolope that it grows well in between topping to form a nice strong, stable base.

New flower tent is up and running as a temporary veg tent!

Now to wait on that package from Amazon for the pieces de resistance - the light, fan, and filter. Expected arrival is Thursday. That's one package I will most definitely be tracking closely.

After lights on tonight I'll move the flowering ladies in and take some photos under the T5s for kicks... they should be the clearest pics of my flowering ladies yet!

28F!! Busy day means big update!

I spent the better part of the morning and early afternoon getting my space ready and getting the propogation tent out of the way and the new flower tent in place. Ta da! Of course, I have the flowering ladies in the soon-to-be veg tent and the veg ladies in the soon-to-be flower tent, but who's counting.

After all the work today, I thought it was only right to take the ladies out for some photos under the T5! With the nice white light on them, I was able to use the auto levels feature in Paint.NET for some quick touch up to make them look as realistic as possible. Here we go!

LA Confidential 1: She's a little discoloured from the light burn, but she's definitely looking like she'll give me a few nice buds. I'm really interested to see what that mini canopy below the main cola turns into.

LA Confidential #2: The scrawniest looking of the bunch at this point. I never meant to top her, and I can see why it was recommended to avoid it. That said she'll still give me some nice buds I'm sure, and I love the purple calyces. It'll be interesting to see how much my cloned LA2 in run 2 surpasses this one.

24K Gold aka Kosher Tangie 1: Looking great. She's going to give me a lot of nice buds.

24K Gold aka Kosher Tangie 2: My favourite. Really excited about what she'll turn out to be.

Thanks again for following along!

Everything is looking awesome mate ;) the Stacking of buds you are talking about means basically when the buds start filling in to become 1 main cola, think of it as stacking 10 buds together into a big one ;) stacking of nodes is pretty much the same thing, what we are talking about is basically how close the nodes are together, the further apart will mean separate small buds and closer together means a chance of stacking ;)

Thanks Feral! Your description makes perfect sense, thanks!

I had a ton of stretch unfortunately but still have some promising spots I think. On 24K2 especially.

Looking good Dobe. Feral's description of stacking is perfect. I'm hoping and praying mine do the same. Also had some crazy stretch on some of the girls.

Thanks Blaze! I'm thinking even if I don't get any where the branch stacks up to a picturesque cola, I'll still get nice buds at the tops, where I generally do have 3 nodes that look like they'll stack up. Do you think the stretch will take my yield down considerably? I was hoping to get 5 oz total, and I'm hoping that swapping in the Viparspectra 900 in a few days, moving them into the larger tent and getting the dehumidifier going will all help things finish strong.

I have to figure out the stretch for next time, I want those picturesque colas.

Thanks CG! I just mean having those long colas of nothing but stacked buds. They just look so perfect and I'd love to grow something that looks that nice. I'm happy with everything with mine so far, don't get me wrong!

I don't think stretch will decrease your yield. If you have the wattage, right strains, and your environment and feeding is on point then you will get big ass colas.

Productive weekend! I got done most of what I wanted to do. Flower and veg ladies are doing well, and the new tent is ready to become the flower tent when the new gear arrives.

Question around humidity / temperature in the flower tent. If I run both flower and veg lights, I inch up to about 27 Celsius. If I run just the flower light, I hit 25. However, if I run both, I seem to be at about 55% humidity whereas I'm at 65% running jus the flower light.

None of these is ideal. I took the approach of turning on just the flower light and adding a small dehumidifier but it's almost useless. I added a tiny USB fan blowing over the tops of the pots but it's not helping. Is there any quick fix other than buying a larger dehumidifier? Maybe a third fan, so I have one over the pots, one over the canopy, and a third onto the canopy to make it dance a little? I didn't want another several hundred dollar expense but I'm not sure what other options I have for giving my plants the best environment. I figured the dryness of my basement would help but I'm having trouble getting good air flow given the room. Thinking too of leaving tent doors open overnight during lights on but don't want to invite pests.
