DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Mr. Krip just walked into the room and missed the joke lol

Nope! I got the joke! I elected NOT to make a comment about Brazillians shaving "down there" and just give a stupid & "obvious" answer to the question! :)

QUICK LUCY UPDATE - I THINK SHE'S ANOTHER RUNT! :thedoubletake:

As good as Lucy was looking the other day, and actually still is, I think she's gonna be another runt.

For those that came in later, this is now the fifth Lucy seed I've attempted to germinate. Three of the five either never popped a taproot, or popped a taproot but never actually germinated.

The last one to germinate was a total runt. She was the tiniest MJ plant I had ever seen! I have to go back and check the notes, but at 6 full nodes, she was only a couple inches wide and maybe 4" high. The individual leaves were tiny. It was really like a miniature version of an MJ plant, but other than that, she seemed healthy.

Well, it looks to me like this Lucy is gonna have the same issues. There's been very little development in the last couple of days and her first set of leaves are just tiny. I would have expected much more growth from a seedling that's just broken ground.

Here she is:

I'm real disappointed, since I REALLY wanted to maintain this strain! In a couple of months, I'll probably place another order from Attitude and see if they will do something on this.

Oh well!

Do you happen to know the genetics of the Lucy strain? Maybe it's just a bad phenotype from a ruderalis?

Lucy is a nickname for a strain called LS* (last letter is a "D") that's a cross between Skunk #1 & Mazar. Ruderalis would be found in autoflowers. Personally, I think the package of seeds got X-rayed or irradiated, or something during shipment and it effected the Lucy seeds, but maybe it was just a bad batch from the breeder?

Really? That sucks K! :(

Where did you get this seed stock from may I ask? Don't know if you caught some of my earlier journal entries about me ordering some seeds from Holland that apparently got irradiated in transit and either failed to germinate, or germinated and were all deformed and screwed up?

I got a full refund on them fortunately and in the end I got three keepers out of the 22 seeds I planted. That's where my one Northern Lights and two White Rhino females came from. Even though these three are not deformed, they have yet to set any flowers even though all the clones around them on the back hill are well into flower with our 13/11 natural outdoor cycle that will soon be hitting 12/12.

Could your seeds have suffered a similar fate I wonder? If not irradiated, perhaps subjected to some other form of stress before you got them?

Just a thought.

Thanks for the sympathy, GG7! :thanks:

I got them from Attitude, and I do hear good things about their customer service, so, I'm hoping they take care of me on my next order. But, they do state that they don't discuss germination and that their seeds are for "novelty" purposes, so I really don't know how they'll handle it.

Yeah, I may not be the best at germination, but 0/5??? :thedoubletake:

If they were shipped to you, there is always the chance that they got scanned by something that zapped them! That is the risk with ordering seeds through the mail. I know that there are limited options besides this method, so the best solution would be to contact them and complain and perhaps they will either send you a new batch or give you your money back.

As I mentioned, the DutchSeeds guys gave me a full refund after I sent them photos of the deformed seedlings and the dead seeds that never germinated.

Its definitely worth a try!

Ahhhh! The good old Beetles song Lucy in the sky... I got ya. I wasn't sure on the strain is why I mentioned the ruderalis. It does bring the auto-flower gene but it is also a very stunted plant. Not knowing the genetic makeup it was worth asking.

Hi Mr. Krip!

Pictures of the PE look great, but I'm sure sorry you've had so many problems germing your Lucy's. I germed two, and they both germinated fine, but one of them has been a bit deformed and funky so far...

Sorry for the bum luck on the Lucy's --- that sucks!

:bong:

LUCY, the strain I've heard so much about, is actually a name for Senore El Esdee??? WOW!! Just realized this, this is one of my faves ,both to smoke and breed with....a note, I've had my best luck germing them in 50-50 FFOF & FFLW in cups with a humidity dome..

let's face it, seeds dont fall off a plant and land in a rooting cube, no, they hit dirt, get slightly covered, and with just the right moisture, and a strong seed, comes life...most would be surprised at the germination rate if they went and broadcast a bag full of seed in the right location...
