DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

No doubt! You've got some SERIOUS trichome action going on with those flowers Mr. K! :thumb: Especially considering that you still have a few weeks to go before harvest time right? Do you usually chop around week 8 with that strain?

Actually, I should have close to four weeks left! The last PE went a full 9 weeks including the flush and was damn near perfect, so I was going to let this one go about the same.

However, I recently read a post from very good grower (Propa Gator, that's you!) who said his PE's finish in something like 49 days! I believe he's growing them in a SOG and using HPS instead of LED, but he said he didn't notice any real improvement in letting his go longer.

So, I may try chopping a little earlier this time, depending on how she looks and samples, but since the desired effect varies from person-to-person and I was so happy with the way the last PE came out, I probably won't cut it short by much.

I have a sample bottle of SSU, if I used it as a foliar it would last a long time. When and how are you applying it? I might give it a shot on my hempy grow (on just 1/2 half of them).

Steve, yeah, it is EXTREMELY economical when used only as a foliar. I apply per directions on the label...I think it's something like 4ml/gallon, so I just add about 1ml to a 1 qt. spray bottle and spray them down once per week.

Since it's recommended you lower PPM's, I usually do SSU application on Friday's. This is because I usually do res changes during the weekends, and by Fridays, the PPM's should be about as low as they're gonna get for the week.

Do NOT use SSU in a res with an airstone, but as a foliar, you should be fine! :)

I'd be VERY interested in seeing a side by side test in your journal!

I'll spray some on 1/2 of my tent grow, I have two sides with the same strains in each so it will be easy to gauge the results. I'll start on Monday with the test. I'll go pick up a good sprayer and some wetting agent (liguid detergent).

Maybe BPN has a good recipe for a wetting agent/saturator for foliar feeding?

If not, I'm sure he can give you a recipe for one! :)

im plannin on using it myself, i still have a bottle from the last grow since i didn't use it, so im interested aswell, when do you think its best to start using it?? how far into flowering?? and Hman, when you find out a recipe let me know, thanks.. and Krip i cant believe how your whole intire leafs are covered like they are, you'll have to make some hash for sure with the left overs, just my opinion, but with all them trichs i bet it would be some damn good stuff!!!! But definitely lookin good though!!!! :thumb:

Most definately! My middle name is "Hash & Canna-oil"! :)

I got over 9g's of bubble hash from the trim off of the last three plants I harvested. There's some pics here in the journal maybe 10 or 20 pages back, or so. It's definately good stuff, but I do prefer just vaping the buds. :grinjoint:

can you vape trim?? i mean if its got that much trichs on it i dont see why not rite..

Sure, you can vape anything with trichomes, but with the trim, there would be less of a concentration of them so you'd need more volume for the same effect as a bud. It would also taste harsher, but that's cushioned somewhat by vaping it instead of smoking it.

Personally, my feeling is that as long as you have some quality buds, use the trim for hash or butter/oil.

lol just a thought, i cant see myself vaping leaves anyway, im sure it would be harsh as can be..

It does tend to be more harsh in my experience, but the good sugar leaves that are closer to the bud can get you really baked fast in a vaporizer too, I've done it and forgot my name once or twice, and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

Having said that, my preference now is to make canna-oil to cook with.

Hope you are well, SuKafr33! :high-five:

QUICK UPDATE - NO PICS :sorry:

I still haven't seen any roots coming out of the cube from the clones I took last Friday. The haven't wilted, and the lower leaves are starting to yellow as I'd expect when they're forming roots, so I'm still (optimistically!) thinking I'll see some soon.

But, just in case, I did take some more clones today from the Bonsai to make sure I'll be ok for the next round.

I also topped (UBT) the Power Skunk seedling which was forming it's 5th node. The nodes were stacked pretty tight, but I did try to clone the small top, also.

Not too much else to report and I'm sure I'll have some more pics by tomorrow!

Happy Harvests!

Mr. Krip - I'm thinking of doing a UBT on one of my plants. I get the idea that once it gets 6 or so nodes, you top it slightly above the 2nd node, (not counting cotyledon as node...) is this correct? Is it as simple as just snipping it off right above the second node with a sterile scissors in a straight cut? Thanks for your help, buddy! :)

:) :)

I gave you your 1,400th like. :bravo: on a great journal my friend! :high-five:

Thanks, Bro! :thankyou:

It's amazing what happens if you keep a journal going long enough! :)

That's exactly correct!

For additional reference, OG13 just copied the article on UBT to his blog, which is here:

Interesting link Mr. Krip ! :thanks:

More ammunition added to the arsenal! :yahoo:

PIC UPDATE

OK Bro's, I finally got to snap some pics....

In veg, I actually thought I saw roots coming out of the side of Lucy's cube. When I cut away the plastic, it turned out it wasn't roots, but I moved her to a mini-hempy and, for the first time, went to a 75%/25% perlite/vermiculite mix, instead of the 100% perlite I've been using. She still looks healthy, but growth is unbearably slow. I'm hoping (althought, I don't think!) she'll start growing once she gets some roots in the res and hoping the vermiculite added to the mix will help with the root development.

Here she is:

The bonsai's oldest clone is doing fine:

And, the two clones I took about 10 days ago still don't have roots coming out of their cubes. They do look like they're forming them, though. They haven't wilted and you can see how one leaf on each of the two clones is yellowed where they're using up the stored nutes:

I had mentioned in a previous post that I did a UBT on the Power Skunk seedling. The truth is, this was ALMOST against my better judgement and I probably should have waited another week. The lower part of the plant was not the healthiest looking due to some of the early problems and, although the top looked VERY healthy, it was still a bit small, so I'm really hoping it will actually root!

But, I'd really like to have a Power Skunk plant ready to flower in about 5 weeks or so, and I need a mother, so I UBT'd her and cloned the top.

XLR8, this next pic is for you, Bro!

You can see, where the cotyledons connect to the first leaf set (usually 1-fingered leaves) is not counted. Count two nodes above that point and just above that 2nd node is where you make the snip on a UBT to get four main colas.

On the flower side, now that they've got some trich's, they're also starting to pack on some weight and the buds are forming nicely.

Here's some more bud p0rn:

Very nice as usual Mr. K! :thumb:

Those cuttings aren't from a flowering mother are they? I had some that I thought were veg, but as they were in the cloner they all started to grow flower tops! Definitely slowed things down considerably and I only ended up with a handful that rooted, and it took 23 days to get there! :(

VERY nice progress being made there brother! I know you're limited on space, but if you could find a spot, or just use the space your young clones are in now, I HAVE to suggest using a bubble cloner for those cubes. The SSH clones I'm running right now, were in 1.5 in rockwool cubes for 3 weeks, with little to no visible roots. Then 2 days in my DIY bubbler, and BAM! All they need is some oxygenated water, 1/4 strength veg nutes, and 1/4 strength SuperThrive. I have a hundred dollar bill that says you see SERIOUS roots in no more than 4 days, and marked boost in visible foliar growth....DO IT!!!
