DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

the power skunk seedling is startin off nice!!! and also i cant believe how frosty they are already, i can already tell this is gonna turn out to be one amazin plant!!! :thumb:

Thanks, Suka!

Yeah, the Pineapple Express is incredibly resinous and gets covered in trichs, and it smell absolutely fantastic with a real strong pineapple/diesel odor.

It's the same strain (in fact, their mom) I harvested a several weeks ago, and if you read the 3-week smoke report you know how impressed I am with it.

It's got just an incredible full-body stone that I really like and I will definately be maintaining the strain for a while, if possible, but since this is now my 2nd PE grow, I'm really looking forward to trying the Power Skunk and Lucy, both of which I've heard fantastic things about and will also be trying to maintain. :yummy:

PIC UPDATE

I took the two clones from the Bonsai Mom this morning.

Here's Mommy after giving birth:

Very, Very NICE!! :thumb:

I LOVE what you did to make that plant look like a Bonzai Tree! :bravo:

Your cuttings look excellent as usual! :):adore:

Thanks, GG7! :thankyou:

Yeah, I'm real excited about the whole Bonsai concept with my limited space and the non-availability of clones & seeds where I am.

There's a great article that's been re-printed just about everywhere on how to keep and maintain bonsais, here, for anyone interested:

Bonsai Mothers

Each Bonsai mother can provide 10-20 or more clones every 2-3 weeks depending on the size and type of lighting used. This is MANY more clones than I could ever use, and, I've read of Bonsai mom's lasting for 15 years!

This method should let me maintain my top 3-4 strains for quite some time while still leaving me enough space for vegging clones in the small veg cab! :grinjoint:

So, a couple weeks after I start flowering, I can just decide which strain I want to harvest next, take a couple clippings from the appropriate Bonsai mom & veg out some clones. :yahoo:

Very cool! :yahoo:

I might have to try that myself since during the winter we also have space problem and this would be great way to keep mother plants around, but in a lot smaller area! :thumb:

I'll definitely check out that article over the long weekend! :)

:thankyou:

As I was doing some more research on Bonsais, I came across a GREAT article on typological breeding in little space using Bonsais and I had to re-post it for everyone on 420. SteveH, GT & GG7, I think you guys will be particularly interested!

THANK YOU !!! for that post, just saved me about 5 yrs!!!

Ditto! :thumb:

Thanks for the link Mr. K! :Namaste:

Definitely going to look into doing some of these myself! Too bad I didn't think about this when all the BBKs were small enough to manipulate. I think they are a little too set in their ways at this point to try anything on this group, but there is always next season! :)

I'm glad you guys liked it - I figured you would since I know you've been looking into breeding, too.

GG7 - Just a thought, but you might want to consider re-vegging one of the BBK's and then turning the re-veg into a Bonsai. I've read several places it's one of the easiest ways to start a bonsai, since when you harvest her, you're taking most of her anyways. Just leave a couple of lower branches with some growth, put her back under 18/6 or more of light, and in about a month, she should start to re-veg. From there you can trim the roots and put her in a smaller container.

Hmmmm.... :hmmm:

Great idea Mr. K! :)

Both BBK 1 and 2 are still alive out back. I left a few of the lower buds on them to ripen a little more, so I could theoretically do exactly what you are suggesting. They are both in 5 Gallon pots though, so they are not exactly what I would call "Small" footprints. I was thinking more along the lines of using one of the clones in the 2.5 or even 1 gallon pots for this technique since they are so much smaller footprints in terms of long-term space considerations.

I could do the same thing after a harvest from one of the smaller clones I suppose... I'll have to think about it, but thanks for the suggestion! Using 1 or 2 would get me into the game right now instead of having to wait for one of the smaller clones to finish flowering etc.

I'll definitely let you know what I decide to do and of course I will feature this in my own journal whenever I actually attempt it! ;)

:bravo: :thankyou:

I enjoy the breeding and experimentation more than the shmokin....well almost, been smokin 16 yrs, growin 14, and breeding since 2001, so 10 yrs, didnt really notice this til now...best result so far of my breeding is my SugarCane...GREAT smoke comes here from out West weekly, and still many say it stands toe to toe, even surpasses some...I just bred to fit my taste and really dived into it, and it took 4 years to find what I wanted, but it paid off...no extensive knowledge of botany is needed to get into breeding, just patience, a GENERAL knowledge of plant behavior and propagation...KISS

Sure! If you saw some traits in the BBK you'd like to preserve for future breeding OR future harvests, and especially if you don't have any more seeds, the revegging will at least allow you to keep the strain. From there you can either clone or Bonsai the re-veg.

I look forward to reading about it in your journal. Post lots of pics! :)

QUICK UPDATE & FUN PICS

Happy Holiday Weekend, Everyone!!!!

With the long weekend, I had some extra time, so thought I'd have some fun with the camera....before the fun stuff, first a quick update:

The Power Skunk seedling and the clone are both starting some rapid growth, so it appears the root issue didn't slow them down much. :)

Here's the seedling:

And, here's the clone:

The two clones I took from the Bonsai are still doing fine, although it's a little too early to tell anything:

And, my Lucy seedling that was planted about 24 hours ago is JUST about to break the surface of the cube! :yahoo:

If you look close, you can see her little helmet just beneath some of the fibers and just below that, you can see the light-colored taproot that is about to push her out:

The rest of the pics are just some fun shots I took to capture the incredible trich development, which basically started this week. Those PE's just are covered in trichs - even some of the larger fan leaves where you wouldn't expect to see them. I'm sure the weekly SSU foliars aren't hurting any, either!

Enjoy!
