DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Plants looking great. Good luck with the LED. Hope they ship you a new one asap or an extra one for free for the trouble and stress it has caused, heh.

As long as it's only stressing me and not the girls, I'll be fine! I just hate to see them stressed! :)

hey krip my led did the EXACT THING!!!!

Ive had 2 both half quit????

RE: The size of this thread.

It is a bit daunting at first glance, but I am determined to go through this whole thing eventually!

Love the latest Hash results and photos! I may have to try making some one of these days!

I'm subbed in now Mr. Krip!

I like your style! :thumb:

Hi Again Mr. Krip. ;)

I forgot to ask you something. Remember those Hydrometers (I think I spelled it right) we bought? What was a good reading in a jar full of buds, that indicated it was safe to start them on their long term cure? I should have wrote it down, sorry.

Hey OMM! Mr K was kind enough to post his dry n cure methods in my journal just yesterday!...

OMM, so glad you're feeling better! I've been doling out "Likes" in your journal the last few days instead of posting, cuz' I didn't want you to feel obligated to reply, knowing your fingers were in pain! ;)

I am glad to hear you're doing better and those vitamins are working!

As Quix said, I just posted my entire drying/curing method in his journal.

Feel well, my friend! :circle-of-love:

QUICK PIC UPDATE

I can't tell you how much I wanted to postpone res changes today, but brought myself to do it and took a few pics along the way.

I still have not received a return call on my LED, and the phone's been ringing into voicemail all day! :rolleyes3

Here they are in the cab before the res change and post-stretch trimming I also gave them:

Here's the smaller of the two out for the res change:

Here's the larger of the two...this one will be a nice producer:

And, the seedling and clone in veg are doing much better. Yellowing is all but gone and new growth is nice & green! :):

Mr K, I was thinking about your dilemma with the lights and all. The wheels started turning and I have a plan that may need some "additional lights" in the future so I put together a very simple and effective solution. I just created a quick DIY thread on it:
Cheap, easy, adjustable DIY light fixture

I should have my light completed and will post the pic later today or tomorrow.

Nice job on the DIY! I think it would only work for me if I were to remove the LED, but it's a great way to customize a CFL fixture to your own spec's, and I'd +Rep you again, if I could! :)

On a related note, LightHouse is sending me out another power supply today that I should have in a couple of days. :thumb:

GREAT save on the power skunk like that old 7up commercial simply marvelous simply marvelous great lookin plants  :Namaste:

Thanks, Papa! :thankyou:

She's still in that fragile stage, but I'm pretty sure she'll make it and will be real happy to save her. She was a freebie seed, but I've been hearing great things about the strain! :yummy:

QUICK PIC UPDATE

The Power Skunk seedling and the PE clone both continue their remarkably quick recovery from the minor root surgery done earlier this week.

The seedling is growing pretty quick now and all the new growth is nice & green, plus, she looks real perky and happy! :)

Here's a few shots of the seedling:

And, here's the clone:

On the flower side, we're still operating on 1/2 the LED and the supplemental CFL's, although I managed to replace the one 13w bulb that was in there with a 23w. Also, I did manage to get in touch w/ LightHouse on Monday and they are shipping me out a replacement power supply for the LED which I should have in the next day or so.

In the mean time, her buds are forming nicely with the nodes starting to grow into each other to form some nice solid colas. Additionally, you'll see some nice trich development happening:

QUICK VEG UPDATE & PLAN CHANGE

Before this update, I wanted to extend my congratulations again here to SteveH for winning MOTM! :bravo:

I appreciate everyone who supported me this month (or tried to support me but could not due to my account issues! :thankyou:

OK...so, here's a quick veg update and then my slight change of plans...

Both the seedling and the clone are looking good and I would now say they have fully recovered from their root ordeal:

Here's the Power Skunk seedling:

And, here's the PE clone:

DSCN06091.JPG

Now, here's what's been going through (what's left of) my mind lately....

Although, regretably, I haven't spent much time focusing on it in the journal, many of you know I have been experimenting with trying to keep Bonsai Mom's for the last couple of months or so.

This has really opened up a whole new realm of possibilities in terms of being able to maintain multiple strains in a small space.

In a recent post, I indicated that I thought I trimmed the Bonsai too small, but recently came across a grower who is maintaining 3" mothers!

I still believe I could have done a better job of topping her (I flowered the best PE clones at the time, so this was a leftover to play with), but I'm now convinced I can maintain the plants safely this size, and because I only need a couple of viable clones for each harvest, even the smaller moms will EACH supply me with many more clones than I could ever use!

Here's my Bonsai PE Mom:

DSCN0608.JPG

You can see she's only about 5" tall right now:

DSCN0602.JPG

And, she's just about 6" wide:

DSCN06044.JPG

It's also worth checking out her stalk which is amost 1/2" thick already!

DSCN06124.JPG

Even at only 5", and even though I took the current PE clone and gave her a trim a couple weeks ago, I could still easily take another half a dozen more clones or so!

DSCN0607.JPG

So, here's where we're at now....

The girls in flower will be ready to harvest in just about 5 weeks - maybe 5 1/2 weeks. Also, the two girls in flower appear to be shorter than the previous PE, I'm sure because I didn't veg the current girls as long.

I'd like to flower two plants concurrently and I'd like to keep a Power Skunk bonsai mom. I'd also like to veg the PE clones a little longer before putting into veg.

Since the Power Skunk won't be ready to clone for another week or so, it will be at least 8 weeks before I have a PS plant I'm ready to flower.

So, I started soaking some more rockwool cubes today...

Tomorrow, I'm gonna take two more PE clones from the Bonsai mom. Most likely those two will be flowered in the next cycle and the current PE clone I'm gonna try to use for a better formed Bonsai Mom.

I'm also going to plant that last Lucy seed! :yummy:

It's been sitting in the fridge for something like 10 months, now, and I want to make sure I germinate her while she's still viable. Also, since I'll be keeping her as a Bonsai mom, too, it will give me plenty of time to work her to the point where she's ready to clone.

I'll try to do a better job of documenting the process of keeping and maintaining the bonsai's, now that I'm starting to "get a grip" on it, myself!

Happy Harvests!

K

Cool work with the Bonsai's Mr. Krip -- Love it! It looks like both your clone and seedling are doing really well - both have healthy new growth. It all looks great - love the experimentation. I don't refrigerate my seeds, just keep 'em dry in plastic bags and they're still almost all good from 2 1/2 years ago. Point being, I could do a lot more to prolong they're life and they're still good that long after (maybe I'm just lucky?).

If you refrigerated your seed correctly (in paper sleeve, closed, inside heavy duty ziplock that has dessicant or rice works well I've heard, but there seems to be a lot of good ways), it should be good for many more years than that I'd think. But, for pete sakes, you gotta have a Lucy mom, right?? :)
