DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Great video. That metal ducting he uses, is cut from a bigger piece, not sure he mentioned that. The cut edge is sharp !! A suggestion, use that reflective tape/ aluminum tape they sell at hydro stores, the local wally world , hardware stores... and reduce the risk of slicing up yourself :)
I have also seen a diy that the person bent the edge over.
Awesome diy though!

I do a complete res change once per week. When I do, I completely disassemble the waterfarms, soak the pieces in a bleach solution, rinse thoroughly and re-assemble.

During the week, I'll top off the res with plain, NON-PH'd water, then adjust the PH of the res as needed.

The waterfarms hold 2 gallons of nutes in the bottom res and the "rule of thumb" is that you do a complete res change, then top off with plain water daily, as needed, until you've replaced a total of two gallons of H2O (basically, you've added as much as the res holds), then you should do a complete res change again.

I find that, until late into flower, they're typically drinking less than 1/2 gallon per day, so weekly changes tend to work fine. Occassionally, if they've been drinking heavily, I'll give them a "booster" dose of nutes during the week.

The best way to do this really, is by measuring PPM's. If PPM's are going down, it means she's taking in more nutes than water and needs more nutes. If PPM's are going up, she's taking in more water than nutes and just needs a water top-off.

Pretty similar to how I deal with my homemade Waterfarm/DWC bucket, almost exact. The only thing I really do different is I usually just rinse things out with hot water and then wipe them down with clean paper towels unless i have a specific concern with contamination (then I do the bleach thing Krip does). I use Dutch Master Zone, and it's amazing at keeping water/nutrient solutions clean and free of baddies. After every grow I wash everything down good with hot water and bleach, rinse good and let dry.

Great advice and info as always Mr. K! :thumb:

there are up to 24" Diameter ducting sleeves up to about 5 to 6 feet sold at home depot and the like, the edges are already bent because they are meant to snap to gether and connect long trunk llines...

Yep, I have bought a few of them, and this one "looked like" the one that was cut, not bent over... Just wanted to point out that the whole cutting off the finger with that thing can really hurt like a mo fo.
At HD, they had one that was supposed to be the 5 foot length, but it was cut down, and only about 3 foot... weird right? I knew they cut wood, but didn't know they would cut those too... You would think the person wanting the shorter length would just buy the shorter one right? Like you said, they have them in all different lengths... Anyway, I'm rambling now! ha! :)

QUICK PIC UPDATE

Time for a quick update...mostly pics! :)

Here's the two babies in veg:

The clone is doing great and now has 8 roots coming out of the cube and drinking from the res:

I admit, I'm starting to get just a little concerned about the seedling (not too much!), since her root development seems much slower. She still only has the one "funky" taproot coming out of the cube that's started "fishboning". The root is growing and does look pretty healthy, but, I also noticed a little yellowing in the center of the new growth (there's only 2 leaves, with a 3rd just forming) that gets a darker green towards the tips. It almost looks like a N deficiency, but is on the top leaves, not the bottom, and just effecting the insides.

So, when I did the res change last night, I added a very low dose of nutes. She does look a little better today, but I'm anxious to get her out of her "fragile" stage.

Here's her taproot:

The two girls in flower are doing great! They've been in bloom now for about 2 1/2 weeks and I've really worked to trim the non-productive stuff early, then expose as many bud sites as possible to the light over the last few weeks. It's paid off with TONS of nice bud sites! :grinjoint:

Here they are:

Before I get to the rest of the flower pics, the big news on the bloom side is that we now have trich development working, which you'll see in some of the later close-up pics:

Nice pic update K,

Curious to what you're roughly yielding in your flowering cab. My next run I'm starting two seeds, cloning them, and then growing them out while keeping a mother or two from the clones...not sure if I wanna Scrog this go around, or if I'll even be able to. I know we run a similar size setup so just wondering what I might be able to expect w/o a Scrog.

:peace:

And craziness about the 'fake' K..some very bizarre stuff happens behind the scenes on these online forums.

hey Krip, thanks for posting about the roots. I'm not sure what "fishboning" is. ? But I'll learn. :)

Did you see the PM I sent ya?

Greenie...I'll try to get you a good pic of fishboning next time I'm in the res on the waterfarms, but, if you look at hydro roots, they typically branch out on the sides in a formation that kind of looks like this:

->->->->- (rotate 90*)

Which resembles the skeleton of a fish. I call that "fishboning" but not sure if its an "official MMJ term" :)

I did see your PM yesterday, but responded in your journal after that. I'll re-check the PM (maybe I missed something?).

Marley, the flower cab is just under 2'x2' and, when I built it, my goal was to harvest 2-4 oz. dried at-a-time.

The first round, I bloomed the AK and the haze together and got just over 4.25 oz. total dried. The next round, I bloomed a single PE for just over 2 oz.

I've since upped my goal....I'm feeling comfortable that I can get my 2-4oz without a problem, so I'd like to see if I can get it up to 6 oz, which I think is doable, even without a SOG, but will definately be packing the cab full! :)

I think I'll fall short of that on this grow since the PE's don't stretch much, but as I "hone in" on the right strains and the appropriate veg times, I should be able to get 5-6oz.

It's pretty tough for me to SCROG with the Waterfarms in my cab, but you had one of the best scrogs I've ever seen! :adore:

I would think you could pull 6 oz. easily from that space with a scrog like you had a couple grows ago!

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS - 3 WEEK SMOKE REPORT

So, the Pineapple express went into jars on 8/2. I separated the "primo" buds from the smaller stuff and it was time to break into the primo buds tonight and get a smoke report in after the three week cure.

The buds look beautiful! They're really dense and just covered in trichs:

Here's a shot for size reference:

And, a closer look at how frosty she is:

b325.jpg

In the jars, it smells somewhat earthy with a little bit of sweetness. As soon as the buds are broken up, there's a strong pineapple/citrus smell. The hint of diesel, that turned into a hint of pine, is now back to a hint of diesel that creats a very strong and unique odor that smells absolutely delicious! :yummy:

The smoke is real smoothe with a slight diesel taste on the inhale, then a strong citrus/diesel taste on the exhale.

About 30 seconds after the first hit, I'm envoloped by a wave of relaxtion that starts at the shoulders, works its way down, and then goes straight to the head, all but removing short-term memory! She has definately improved considerably with the cure!

It's not quite "one hit quitter", at least not for me who has a pretty HIGH tolerance, but I'm quite sure it would be for many! After the second hit, I'm good for the next couple of hours and typically curse myself for overloading the vape again. :)

Again, I had heard mixed reviews about this strain with many saying better bag appeal than effect. And, it's only touted at 15% THC while many other strains are 20+%, but I must say, the PE has totally exceeded my expectations, and then some!

I will most definately be maintaining this strain for a while and would most certainly recommend it to any indica lover. It's a great choice for an indoor grow, especially with limited space, since she stays relatively short, and matures very quickly with a havest after 9 weeks, and that's with my 180w LED! Plus, the look and smell are fantastic!

I'm not saying that, if I had to smoke only one strain for the rest of my life, I'd choose PE. I'm just saying, I wouldn't be too disappointed if that was all I could smoke! :grinjoint:

I rate the PE a four out of five spliffs! - :joint::joint::joint::joint:

Happy Harvests!

Nice, milky-crystally balls of goodness. Back when i was about 13, a few friends and i, our goofy selves, decided that to express our enthusiasm over great buds, the best buds should be classified as "sweet, tender morsels". So, mr. Krip, looks like youre trying to tell us you have some sweet tender morsels on your hands. Great job!
