DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Sorry for the double post. Too bad about the AC, but it sounds like everything is and will be fine. Hey, they'd face changing weather in nature right?

The AK has gotten huge, and I think it's really good that things stink badly! One more mile. Just one... more... (stinking) mile. :goodjob:

Thanks, WnF! No problems on the double post and I'm sure the plants will make it through ok. At first, I was more concerned about the humidity than the temps, now, I'm just more concerned with having the A/C repairmain so close to the grow area.

I don't expect anyone to remember this from my first journal, but the grow cabinet sits right behind the wall with the A/C unit, so it's right in the next room. At the time, I thought it would be great for stealth, since the sounds from the cabinet get lost with the air handling unit, but an A/C repairman being here late in flower was something I wasn't really planning on.

So, this should be a good "pre-test" of my stealth before my friends come to stay here in another week. But, my friends would be a much lower risk test. I've had numerous people within feet of the grow cabinet as recently as this weekend, and no one has mentioned anything, so hopefully that's a good sign! :wood:

Hi Mr Krip! :surf:

Murphy's law got you. it always happens.:smokin:

Like everyone else said, you should make it until the ac is fixed. High 80's is normal for me.....you'll make it. Keep those fans a blowing. ;)

Great pictures as usual. :Rasta:

Thanks, OMM! I appreciate all the good vibes I can get.

Like I said, I think the plants will be fine. The PE mom was droopy this morning, but her hempy was dry so I topped it off and I'm sure she's probably perky again already (although, I haven't checked).

I did have to tie a couple of buds on the AK...not for LST, but to help support their weight! :grinjoint:

They were starting to lean, so now I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna support them.

I either need to tie them to the ceiling and then do the rest of the res changes in the cab. Or, more likely, I'll try to secure some stakes with duct tape (or something) to the top res of the waterfarm so I can tie the buds to the stakes and still remove the top res (stakes and all!) to do a res change away from the cab.

I'll let you know what I come up with & thanks!

:peacetwo:

Just a couple days on AC & same RH as always, you'll make it + so close to :rollit: now! :Rasta:

Tell me do you think the LED's or the Snow Storm Ultra had anything to do with length of flowering time on this grow? Or do you think it was the original stress they went through or do you think it's just a more sativa dominate strain? Also again please, at what rate & foliar schedule are using the Snow Storm Ultra @? What is your overall early appraisal of the product & how it works? Does your experience with this HCO product make you want to experiment with the other HCO products? Which they now have a 5th product out, a powder form Flower enhancer out- "Sonic Bloom" for use in soil or hydro. If you are interested in some researching I did into HCO products for their use in Hydro check this Link I leaving you. It is just about the best info on their products I could gather together.

Didn't think I would leave without a teaser for ya! 17days in 18gal Bubbler! They just had a first res change & were misted.

Looking forward to hearing your views on this product! Then looking forward to the smoke report!

Watching in the wings, Happy Grows ~H~

H, great to hear from you! I hope all is well and it certainly looks like you've gotten off to a great start on the next grow! :welldone:

On the SSU, I'm using foliar ONLY and, knowing your style around DWC, you'll want to use it only as a foliar, also. It does warn NOT to use it in a res with an airstone, let alone the fact that you'd be introducing a bacteria to your synthetic environment.

The directions for foliar are to add 1/2 - 1 tsp. per gallon and apply once per week. I've been mixing in a quart sprayer bottle at 1ml/quart and applying weekly.

Since I haven't done any controlled tests, it's tough to say how much of the trich production was due to the SSU and how much would she have gotten without it.

But, to me, it's just like the DM Zone. All I know is that since I've been using it, I've been extraordinarily happy with the results. Plus, using as a foliar only, it's extremely economical and a little bit will go quite a long way (at 1ml/quart, you do the math! :) ).

So, although not scientific, I'm convinced it works and I do plan on continuing use of the SSU with all of my grows.

As for their other products, I wouldn't hesitate to use Gravity. Based on what I've read, it also seems to do what it claims, and supposedly works VERY well WITH the SSU in combination. However, I'm not sure Gravity is much different that Overdrive or Big Bud (I can't remember which), perhaps not in formula, but certainly in the results it's intended to produce.

So, although I wouldn't hesitate to use Gravity, I probably won't introduce it into a grow until I go through the AN nutes I have.

Thanks for the link on the Sonic Bloom...I'll check it out.

Best wishes, my friend, and goodluck on the current grow!

H,

Sorry...I forgot to answer your question on flowering times.

I do NOT believe the LED/CFL's or SSU extended the flowering time at all. I just believe the breeders are highly optimistic and probably list the "as early as" timeframe for harvest.

Again, there was no controlled test, so maybe they would have developed a little quicker with HPS, but so far, at least in my small grow cab, I see NO reason to switch, especially considering electric costs & temps.

Breeder says 56 days of flower. So, I'll be harvesting about 2 weeks later than breeder says, if you assume I started flower 2 weeks into 12/12. Let's chalk one of those weeks up to breeder being agressive and the other week to me wanting lots of amber and to not harvest too early.

A radio, tv or something could come in real handy there.

A radio, tv or something could come in real handy there.

The noise isn't a problem, and there is a TV nearby if needed, but honestly, I'm more concerned with smell.

I've got Ona along with some other odor gel from Homie's, but you definately need the right balance so it removes the skunk odor but doesn't make the house smell like a rest stop bathroom.

I'm gonna fry up some bacon in the morning, as an extra measure and then light a candle over some scented oil (the excuse can always be to remove the bacon smell!).

I'm thinking that should get me through it, OK.

In the mean time, that 6" clip-on Air King fan I took out of veg and replaced with the box fan is now what's keeping me cool as I veg. :hookah:

Thanks for the info & thoughts on your use of the SSN. I think I will try both the Gravity & the SSN this grow; have Bushmaster but think I will wait. I will use SSN @ the rate you are using it at & I think I will try, as suggested by Gorillagardener, the continious 1ml/5gallons but start week 5 or 6, since believe I will be going 11-12 weeks. Yes I believe some of these harvest times are optimistic at best:smokin:.

As for smell, saute' up some trout Almondine or Salmon, they won't smell anything else for 2 days! :goodluck:

Interesting little update. The A/C company was supposed to come tomorrow, but they had a truck down the street and just popped over without calling in advance, so I had little-to-no time to prepare. Luckily, most of the time was spent outside and he didn't detect anything out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, it looks like my compressor died and it's gonna be big money and probably a few days to get it taken care of. :surrender:

Shit. No bacon.

Sorry about the compressor news. Good thing nearly all that work is outdoors.:goodluck:

Thanks, WnF! I'm just glad he couldn't smell anything while he was here. It's a good sign my stealth is really stealthy. :)

I actually have a nice little update, non-related to my A/C problems right now...

I was just checking in on the plants. Earlier in the grow, when they weren't smelling as much, to get a sense of what they smelled like, I'd gently pinch one of the buds, then smell my fingers. It worked real well, so I figured I'd try it again...

When I did it this time, my fingers stuck to the bud so that I almost pulled the bud out of the cab with my hand! I peeled my fingers off, and now they're all sticky and smell quite a bit like what I always imagined heaven would smell like!

I can't wait to test this stuff, it should be really good, and I'm now anticipating some nice scissors hash from the trim! :yummy:

Sorry to hear about the AC Mr K. Hopefully it will be fixed soon for you. I feel your pain. This past winter my furnace took a poo and I was quoted a measly $4500.00 to replace it.... Fawk Meeee! Luckily with A few cheap parts and a few hours on the Internet, I fixed it myself.

I swear... AC and plumbing bills are like a kick in the pills. The initial shock drops you then pain hangs out for what seems to last an eternity. :)

Sending you some good vibes my friend :surf:

Thanks, Dime...unfortunately, there's little chance of me getting out of this one cheap. I am gonna take a cheapER route than the $3,200 I was quoted, but I'm still expecting to spend over $1,000 before it cools down in here.

I'm also starting to worry about res temps and will probably do another res change in a couple days, just to be safe.

RH isn't too bad, and so far, the girls have been able to handle the high temps, so we'll see how it goes. The timing definately sucks all around.

Hey $2200 less bucks is a much nicer price though. Still sorry it happened.

Maybe get some frozen water bottles ready just in case the temps jump. You can get a case of water bottles at Wally World for $3-5 bucks. You'd have more than enough bottles to keep it cool. Just a thought :)

got some pics up let me know, i really dont wanna wait for the soil to dry out, i think i wanna jus chop tonight, all of them...let me know what u guys think...or is it manditory to flush or can i just harvest them all now??

Suka, nothing is mandatory, so you can harvest whenever you want, with or without flushing. Flushing is to get the last of the chemicals out of your meds so it tastes and burns better. You don't have to do it, but you risk the quality of the bud,

Also, I did look at your pics and IMHO, I would probably wait at least another week before I flush. Your girls look like they're still showing a lot of long white pistils, and most of these should be enveloped back into the buds when she's closer to being ready.

That being said, it sounds like you're pretty set on chopping tonight, in which case I won't be offended and hope it turns out great for you. But, I do believe your yield will be bigger and quality better if you wait another week, or so, and then do a proper flush.

hey i go with whatevers better, shit i've been waitin 3 months whats another week, do u think it will make a difference that i trimmed them all up?? will it mess them up?? and if anything i think i'll go ahead and just chop lily because all her pistils are all orange and shes not growin anymore so i think shes pretty much done... but i'll listen to the wise and wait a week and finish my harvest nutes tonight and flush till the end...:tokin:

Exactly!!! You've come this far, so no sense in losing patience at this point! I don't know how the trim will effect them, but it looked to me like you still have some cola leaves on the plant, correct? If so, keep an eye on them. When she starts getting ready, the tips will start yellowing as she uses up stored nutes.

Hi Mr. Krip. :)

I use Gravity (3 grows) and it works. Tightens their little buns up.

Thanks for the info on Snow Storm. I bought some the last time I went to the hydro store, but have not used it yet. ;)
