DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Yeah bro, those are just stipules, which are on both male and female plants, they are often confused for pistles. Sorry if you got excited, but we'll keep hoping for some females. I did the same thing, its really confusing because there are two pistle looking things in the general area where the pistles should be.

LOL...I think we were both agreeing with XLR8 at the same time! :)

I was surprised to see "pre-flowers" this early but I wasn't familliar with stipules and didn't realize they would also appear on males.

BTW...I saw your journal update tonight. I do have to recommend that DM Zone that ChrgrsFan got me hooked on for helping with any root issues. The root growth I've seen since using that stuff is really unbelievable! (Thanks again, H!).

You are more then welcome K~, glad it worked for you. Sorry for all the craziness over it though; Just knew it would work for you, so I kept pushing the point(my bad). Now I just keep my opinions to me! You are really doing well sir & I am glad to have been a very small part of it. Remember I told you way back in the beginning just had to get you a little success. You seem to have a firm grasp on things & I will be watching in the wings to see what you finish with. I don't think I will be starting with clones on next one, got a few more viable seeds out of some Sour Diesel & have the ones from Blueberry Azure; if I like them (meds were killer) & find a good pheno then will take clones from that. Going to chuck 10gal res & go up to 18gal with 4 plants in each; and I am going to tweak things quit a bit. Things are really coming along; trychs on P.Kush are starting to cloud, got a growth spurt in the Hog buds(which leaves showing signs of Ca def, but this close who gives a shit) & remaining Hawaiians are frosting up. Kush had 4-5 leaves early on that showed Ca def. but Hawaiian has not ever. Wish I could have used all my HCO products on this grow(just were too sick) but will on next for sure. Talk to ya later & watching from the wings! Happy Grows ~H~

I am really hoping for female I am really liking this hardy plant. There still little and allready stinky good smelling.:tokin:

Nice! Did you start from feminized seeds or clones? If it's that dank, even if it's a male, it may not be a bad idea harvesting some pollen. You could create your own pheno, "Turttle Skunk"! :)

Of course, it would have to have that "creeper" effect and take some time but after a few minutes, you'd be blasted! :tokin:

I'm a bit older than you guys, but it's still my favorite thing to look at female fuzzy parts too. Not that I can do anything with them any more.....but I have good memory! :yahoo::yahoo:

Nice journal, my friend! :high-five:

Thanks, OMM! I'm honored you stopped by! :adore:

Just topped off the res's on the girls in Veg. Since they've both been drinking a lot of water, I topped them off with nute solution at 1400PPM including a higher ratio of bloom nutes.

Final Stats After Adding Nute Solution:

AK - PH: 5.89; PPM: 1420
RH - PH: 5.81; PPM: 1250

Here they are today on Day #6 of flower for the AK and Day #4 for the RH:

More to come later!

yo do your plants look super gnarly and bushy as they do from you "super-cropping" aka "pinch and bend technique" (as I know it) to get it like that? Did you make it look like that to fit into your space or because 4 better cola spacing?

I used LST and it was in an effort to help maximize yield in a small space. Here's some pics from earlier in the journal that I don't mind posting again:

Speaking of LST...

I decided I'm going to try Uncle Ben's topping technique on the Pineapple Express. For anyone not familliar with this, it's a way to top the plant to get either 2 or 4 MAIN colas. If you Google "Uncle Bens Topping", you'll see the thread on another board and I highly recommend reading it (you can all decide if you want to try it later!).

I started soaking a rockwool cube today so I could clone the top.

I'm interested to see how this works out in my space. It seems it may be a better way than LST to maximize yield, or perhaps, a combination of UBT and LST is the best way to go.

I think I've already proven to myself that I can LST a single plant so it fills up the space. If I can get two plants each with four main colas, there may be more space and a better yield.

I'll take pics when I do the surgery which won't be until tomorrow or over the weekend.

Just checked on the girls again and had to raise the lights for the second time today in the flower chamber! :morenutes:
I probably only have about a foot or so more headroom to play with before they start growing into the LED. It's the kush that's the issue. I added another phone book under the haze so her canopy is now basically at equal height, but I can always remove phone books on her.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the vertiical growth spurt in flower only lasts for the first 2-3 weeks? Is that correct?

If so, hopefully the kush won't overrun the space. Tomorrow will be day #7 of flower with her, so I'm hoping she won't be growing too much longer (maybe another 6" or so!).

Also, although temps weren't too bad, that clip-on Air King just wasn't cooling like it once was. However, temps have been great on the flower side, even with the LED PLUS the four CFL's using that one 9" box fan I picked up for $10 from the local dollar store (don't ask me why the dollar store was charging $10 and not $1!).

I put the box fan right in front of the vent so it draws the cool air in from the outside, and tilt the fan up to circulate the air through the canopy and blow the heat off the lights & plants. It works so well, I only run it on low speed, temps are great, and I haven't even had to add the 2nd Air King fan I bought to the flower chamber.

So, I went back to the dollar store today and spent another $10 (I know, I know!) and got the last 9" box fan on the shelf.

I set it up same as in the flower side - just in front of the passive intake, drawing the cool air in and blowing up.

Temps went down by 5* and I've retired the Air King 6" clip-on.

I think everyone gets the idea, but I'll get some pics of it tomorrow (unless I can't resist and post pics later today!)

yea post the pics!!!! lets see what ya did.. ur like me i got all kinds of crazy shit in my cab for my plants to sit on... i dont know if its just me or what, but i like this web site like people like facebook and shit..

Hey man, good to here you got your temps under control, I'm battling some highs myself with my HID but I'm excited to see how you have your fans, might help me circulate my air better. I had the same difficulty when attempting to sex my plants this grow, sorry I couldn't relay this picture sooner. Rest assure though, when you see those two white hairs at the node you'll know, it may only be one node on the whole plant, but you'll know :thumb: ;) Glad to hear your worst problem is how to keep your kush small enough!

thats like the biggest plant i got, its got 1 pistil on the whole damn thing...like my first plant i grew though, it looked like it was startin to bud before any pistils even grew..like the question i was askin ,, can u tell its a female that way??

Hi Mr. Krip ! :grinjoint:

What a great journal you have going my friend. Pictures on what you talk about and that helps everyone. I learn from seeing things and you help allot.
I visited Uncle Ben's and have been doing the same thing for years. My second grow I had a Columbian Gold with eight colas. It works! The before and after pictures are living proof of how it works...LST. Fine job my friend! :high-five:

Most of this stuff is really strain dependent. Some strains will show sex early, while others may not show sex until they have been flowering for a few weeks. Like OMM said, it would help if you put a picture up to help us understand what you are seeing, then we may be able to help yu out. Thing are going good for you, it seems like your learning a ton, experience in growing teaches you immeasurably!
Peace,
NEPharmer
