DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Lookin good, I'm glad to see your working out the space issues. Good job!

Thanks, NEP! I still have several weeks to try to maintain some sort of control, so we'll see how we do, but I definately appreciate the support! :tokin:

I know I said I wasn't going to post any new pics unless there was some notable change, but I think this is worthy...

I just checked the girls in veg and you'll never guess which one had a nice LITTLE (*hint*) growth spurt today? I'm not going to jynx it by saying which one, so I'll just call her "Lucy" :)

The big update is that she decided to show me that she is, indeed, a female:

So I took a look at the PE:

Then, I looked closer, and:

She's showing her sex, too! They're such sluts - I love it! :grinjoint:

I shouldn't be too surprised with feminized seeds, and I still need to keep 'em female, but it's a good start! :)

Hey there Mr. Krip -

Can't see the pics super clear, but are you sure those aren't stipules? They look like stipules to me, which aren't indicative of sex. If I'm wrong - my apologies, it's just hard for me to see in the photos and I want to help. Here's hoping for some lanky lovely ladies!

Stipules:

I should note that in the picture above, to the left side of the stipules are true female pre-flowers (partially circled)

Thanks XLR8! I most definately am NOT sure, and I wouldn't be surprised if you're correct that they are stipules. How do I tell the difference? In your pic, the pre-flowers look more like "hairs" but it's tough to really see the difference.

:thankyou:

I have to go with xlr8 on that one Mr Krip. Those are stipules. I believe those plants are still far too immature to exhibit gender. In my case, the plants were substantially larger when they revealed themselves.

Notice the hairs off to the side of the stipules. Those are female pre-flowers. They'll be there soon enough though.

LOL...I think we were both agreeing with XLR8 at the same time! :)

I was surprised to see "pre-flowers" this early but I wasn't familliar with stipules and didn't realize they would also appear on males.

BTW...I saw your journal update tonight. I do have to recommend that DM Zone that ChrgrsFan got me hooked on for helping with any root issues. The root growth I've seen since using that stuff is really unbelievable! (Thanks again, H!).

Thanks kindly for that recommendation... I am however going to avoid adding anything at this point that is not on the BCNL menu as I believe it to be well tested for this situation. That's not to say that I haven't been amazed at the success you've enjoyed with it. I'm just going by their book first time out.

Bingo - they look like hairs, or I even think of it like "fuzzy antennas" Once the female parts show - they almost look furry or fuzzy.

Honestly, if you keep nosing around every day you'll know 'em when you see them now. The picture I included is a pretty good example of what they'll look like. I made the same mistake with stipules during my first grow - it's easy to do and things are mostly theoretical until you get to that point in the grow - so it's tough.

By the time you get to your second grow and beyond you'll spot them from a distance. Same for male parts.

Not to add any confusion to things, but I use all Dutch Master nutes with my BCNL box after I had a hard time finding some of the stuff BCNL recommended, and they have worked really well - so if you ever decide to down the road to try something different, they are a good way to go and considerably more affordable than the AN line. There are some really good growers on here that use Dutch Master as well. The Zone product is excellent. Your choice to go with the BCNL menu is a wise one, no doubt. Just wanted to let you know that the DM products would also work well with your system. One of the strong points of DM is there is very little particulate matter, which keeps drippers from plugging, etc.

Thanks xlr8. I do recall our conversation about your use and success with DM. I've got nothing against DM or anything else for that matter. Kind of like a new car with me... I just use the tires that came with it. ;)

Got it! Thanks! I'll be nosing around looking for furry female parts! :grinjoint:

I understand. Plus, it's always good to establish some "baseline" so you can see if anything else is really helping or hurting.

I don't blame you a bit. I would have too except for some issues with ongoing supply problems - also, excuse the brain slip: I forgot I mentioned DM with you before... Besides, BCNL's recommended program is top notch, without a doubt.

That my friend, is my all time favorite past-time. I've proudly spent most of my adult life doing that.

Second favorite relates to growing. :):):)

The hairs are indication of female preflowers this is where you tell the sex.If male you would see balls or pollen sacks minus the hairs comming out of this location.Sometimes it takes a while and sometimes you will not see this until you change to flower.I just noticed some action on my super skunk looks like the beggining of female preflower but no hairs popping out yet.I am really hoping for female I am really liking this hardy plant. There still little and allready stinky good smelling.:tokin:
