DC’s Roaring 20’s Perpetual Garden!

My NextLight arrived a little over a week ago. It works, I did check, but I don't have a space for it at the moment. Still figuring that one out. :D

Haven't heard about the GrowAnt one yet. I do have a place for that, and was kinda looking forward to it. Oh well, maybe it will come some day.

I have to say NextLight was amazing to deal with, I emailed them and they responded very quickly, shipped it out promptly and sent a tracking number. Very impressed it’s too bad they don’t offer a few more varieties of lights!

@Dutchman1990 convinced me to go the cloner route after seeing his many creations and their success, once the parts arrive next week I’ll throw it together and put the nextlight into action over the cloner!

With all of the craziness it may be awhile.

I know I hear that not to complain when many people have more to worry about right now but damn I am terrible at online shopping and failing miserably at sourcing things for curb side pickup. Usually just get fed up after an hour of struggling lol. I’m trying to support my local hydro shops by buying right now but I think they’re all heavily medicated in quarantine and hard to get through to!

“Yeah man jus text me what you want and I’ll have a look for it...”

5 days later hey how’d you make out?

“Oh yeah we don’t have that I don’t think...”

LOL thanks bro go back to sleep!

I suppose the bank account is happy about that though

NextLight is definitely a good company to deal with! They sent me my light out really quickly and it arrived in tip top shape!
I’ve got all my sprayers in today as well Deecee so I’ll have the final pictures and start of cuttings today/tomorrow!

Sweet! I’m just going with a bubbler style for this one but I really liked the cloning tutorial you wrote up! I didn’t know it helped to have more nodes when picking clones.

Yessir it does! The natural production of auxins in the cutting will help aid it in the rooting process! Then hitting it with some additional hormones they will really take off! Look forward to seeing how you make out brother

Week 7 - Clean and Clone

Every one of the girls has settled into a groove and have been blowing up this week! They are gaining almost an inch a day in height. I’ve been super busy working long hours on night shift this week so they got pretty bushy on me.

I did manage to cobble together a bubble cloner although due to the store closures I bought a too weak of pump and too small of air stones for the scale I was shooting for! I suck at online shopping. Nevertheless I managed to make it work with a smaller rubber ware container!

Finally with some time I threw on the tunes, cracked a bud light and lit up my new perfect pipe. Snips in hand, a jar of water and some cloning hormone I went to town on the preflower defol! I like to thin them up for air flow and remove any nodes that haven’t made it to the canopy but I also make sure I can’t see through the canopy so photons aren’t wasted.

They also got hand watered 8gallons at 4.5g per gal of MC, and my auto watering plates installed before it’s too late. I released all ties then reinstalled them on the mains after the trim to help keep them open and wide in anticipation for the upcoming stretch.

Five beers and a few bong loads later:

Clone Drama
I followed all the basics for the clones, picked the most nodes I could find with the strongest stems, cut on a 45, shaved, into a cup of water until I finished with the plant then into rooting hormone before the pellet or cloner. Today though...is this uh normal for a day or two? Temp is 25C , RH 75 80ish in the tent. Light @ 10k lux.

That’s not normal, maybe wait until they’re ready to go into the cloner before you cut and shave. Also they require very little light. Too much light and they try to grow instead of making roots.

I’m not following, how do you tell they are ready to in the cloner or not? Don’t you just cut shave, dip in hormone and pop em in? Are they too wet maybe?

Even the peat pellet ones are keeling over, is it possible I cut them too long?

My light is at max height 150w nextlight core over 30” away

SOS!

Damn those are some long cuttings!! Cut them shorter then have an easier time standing. Get a dome over it. The higher humidity, they will stand. I always give my clones air everyday. Once I see them droop again. I put the dome back on within an hour they’re back to standing

Cut them all at the next node. Ran out to a hydro store that’s still open and grabbed some rapid rooters and a dome. They instantly look better.
Cut the bubbler clones and put them back in... they’re still sad. Hopefully they perk up soon!

That tent looks like a professional grow space! Multiply those by 100 and they would look perfect in a huge warehouse grow.

Indeed! Great advice to re-cut them shorter. The dome will help the ones in the rooters but you don't need a dome for hydro or aeroponic cloning.

How far from the top of the bubbly water should the bottom of the stem be?

I have them set about an inch away and they are definitely wet. Hm, can’t see why they are so droopy and sad. May be the light, maybe I’ll see where I can move the bubbler to under basement light.

The clones transferred to the rapid rooters are looking great under an led pot light in a dome.
