8 Weeks 57 Days - Flip Day!
Hey everyone I have a big update in store today. I’ve been busy as hell this weekend at home so let’s get to it!
Friday night I move my tent into a larger finished room in my basement. I got sick of bumping around in the furnace room when there was this partially finished room (from previous owners) beside me doing nothing that I wouldn’t be using as a bedroom for years.
Just waiting on some extra ductwork to reconnect the exhaust fan and a laundry sink for draining and filling! Next free weekend I’ll be finishing the last wall in with a door I can lock and putting in a beer fridge and my happy place will be set!
Auto Irrigation Setup
400gph pump
1/2” tube feed line
CIS 12 outlet manifold w/ 2x 1/4” lines per pot
Flora Flex matrix plates and circulators
Titan Controls Timer
15gal reservoir
It was a long night getting this all installed, I had to use a hairdryer to heat up every end of the 1/4” tubing to squeeze them over the barbs on the drip rings and manifold which was super fun. Not. At least they are right. I test ran it for a minute to leak check and then called it a night. No leaks and all tubes were cut the same length which worked for even feeding.
Commissioning
Today was the first feed using the system. Pots were fairly dry and took approx 5gallons which took 4min 45seconds until slight runoff. It works well enough however there are a few issues I’m going to try to correct. The money, time and effort gone into this I want it working flawlessly.
1) Due to the pots not being level the water will not travel to any high sides on the matrix plates. Need to fab up some shims.
2) Water never seems to travel to the outer edges no matter what, possibly need a stronger pump. Will stake the outside edges of the matrix plates to create a downward slope to the outsides.
3) Some of the holes on the circulator drip rings don’t seem to be dripping. May have damaged them during assembly before I gave up forcing the tubes on and grabbed the hair dryer. I have 12 so I will swap some out.
4) It’s too bad the circulator stakes aren’t longer, they don’t seem to stick in place, so they are often all out of whack. Not sure the fix here yet.
I can’t figure out how to upload a video from my phone so here’s a few stills of one!
@Dutchman1990 @multiVortex I know you are busy guys maybe you can have a look, let me know if you have any feedback based on how your setups works?
