Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

And if you have a lowes near you you can get the 2700k replacement ho bulbs for side lighting in fliwer

Yep, for just under $15 a pack of 4, I believe. I have one right around the corner.

:laughtwo: There ya go. Lol! Great minds..... :cheesygrinsmiley: You can get the CFLs within 1.5 inches from the plant, and you want them always within 6". Further than that and the light isn't usable for the plants in the way we need it to be. The usable light is from the sides. No usable light comes from the end. Until I got the Timber COBs, (which are amazing, by the way) this was my favorite lighting method. For sheer light efficiency it's hard to beat a CFL sitting right on top of your plant.

Hmm, im currently growing some Photos, and i had them under just one 23W cfl each Plant. They became their light from the end the first time and they did just fine. Let me search for a Picture in this mess called my gallery... :lot-o-toke:

They were under this kinda self build cheapest of the cheap fixture a few weeks. This is how they turned out now at Day 41 of Veg. By the Way, the ones on the right Hand are Cream Caramel by Sweet Seeds, they claim a medium CBD content to this strain, whatever that means.

If someone is interested in how 23W CFL´s perform when you use them to veg over weeks, or in the Cream Caramel Strain i´m currently growing, you will find very very detailled information right here in my current Journal. Feel free to visit and tell me your opninion about it

Crocodocs First Photoperiodic - Ice Kush & Cream Caramel - 250W DS-HPS - Daily Update

Medium CBD, eh? I was unaware of that. If I hear back from the social rep I'll ask him for more detail. I believe I have some Cream Caramel in my seed bank.

I've seen many others grow with CFLs hanging over the plants like that Crocodoc, but I've never varied from the information Tulip shared in the CFL thread. I had too much to lose in that grow. It was the grow that kept my husband high until he died.

Some seem to very dense and compact already while some are fluffy and foxtailed.
Dont really know what to expect with the finish. Does dda seem to put on the weight towards the end?

See how airy and fluffy she is

I think that's a beautiful sight. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Don't be concerned about airy buds. Most of mine have been airy, and that's no determinate as to the true value of this strain. Those airy buds will kick your ass. :laughtwo:

They're all the same age? Looks like you have a couple that may stay green, although I've had some turn later than yours are now. My first one didn't go dark purple, but it changed to dusty purple in the final two weeks. Caught me by surprise. When I grew the second one and it went deep purple with stained leaves I was beside myself with glee.

Ok thx I was trying to see how good they reverse.

Smooth as butter. The plant is a joy to work with. It's especially nice not to have to manage the funk of fresh cannabis permeating the outer walls of your home until the neighbors think you raise skunks.

What a timely post. I've been sitting here under the influence of a recent harvest. When you break it up it has the sweetest berry/fuel/spicy smell that makes your mouth water.

They look more black than purple. :cheesygrinsmiley: God, I love growing this strain. :laughtwo: See that little bit broken up? Three hits and I was nearly hallucinogenic. Lol!

Ahhhh....... I grow some nice strains, and this one makes me very happy. :cheesygrinsmiley:

That is amazing Sue! I will get the satisfaction of joining you very soon!

Here is my Day 63 update...It won't be long now. I have been keeping an eye on the trichs and they are mostly cloudy but still about 10%-15% clear so I think I'll wait until around day 70 to bring her down unless someone here sees something I don't and thinks I would benefit from letting it go for a little longer.

I have been flushing with collected rainwater PH'd at 6.4 for about a week now so I'm hoping for a good 2 week flush before harvest.

She is a small one but she looks like she packs a powerful punch and she is by far the most beautiful plant in my tent. She is about 10-inches tall and no matter how hard I tried I could not get her to budge past that point of growth. I think I may have stunted her with the LST I did at some point.

Either way, she has some very beautiful colors and checking today (day 65) she has even more beautiful purple and yellow leaves coming in at the bottom.

I was hoping to harvest all 4 of my plants at the same time but I have 2 that are lagging behind so I am going to have to come up with a quick solution and maybe someone here could lend me some advice.

I have 4 plants total...2 are ready and 2 still need a couple more weeks minimum before they are ready. Should I rig up a cardboard box to use for drying this girl and the NYC Diesel...or should I rig my lights up outside the tent and use the tent for drying the 2 that are ready?

The only issue I will have doing that is the area outside my tent is just a basement area so there's no reflective material for the light to bounce off of. The temp and humidity in that space is great so no worries there.

I'm open for any and all suggestions and thanks in advance to this wonderful community of growers of the most awesome strain ever!

Here are some pics that I took her outside to get:

She's so beautiful 420growking. :battingeyelashes: Don't you just love the contrast of the bold purples against the autumnal coloration of the fans? :dreamy: You see why we're so addicted to growing it? Lol! Your reward is days away from now. :yahoo:

If it were me, I'd dry in the box and leave the plants in the tent.

Next run, might I suggest you top her at about the fourth or fifth node and let her go from there? This will appreciably increase your yield. I don't train these more than that, unless space considerations demand it.

With this strain you always run the risk of a runt. It happens to the best of us. :laughtwo:

Yes, the contrast is AMAZING! I love the color of the leaves as much as I love looking at those sweet little buds.

I will definitely be topping it next grow to see what I can get her to push out. I am gonna miss this girl when I have to chop her down but I am really looking forward to the next one. This will give me plenty to make it through to the next grow.

I was thinking the box would probably be my best solution as well. I may even build a box if I can get it done in time and put in the proper ventilation but I have seen some people having success with drying in a cardboard box so I think I'll give that method a spin and see how she turns out.

Thank you for all of the help and awesome support! ;)

Hey everyone, just thought I would pop in with a quick update on my DDA at day 24 (2 days ago) since I haven't been in here for a bit now, been pretty busy. BTW, everyone's plants are looking wonderful, can't wait to see mine shoot up now.

She actually showed her first pre-flowers at day 20, I was very surprised this happened in just under 3 weeks but then again, I didn't use a very big pot for this first one, the next will be going into a 5 gallon bucket with lots of space for roots to dive down :) Since I have seen the first pre-flowers I have seen some more lower growth happening and nodes growing asymmetrically like she should be once mature, so she's ready for the races now.

Here she was at day 21, the day after I noticed the first pistils poking out..

I will be sure to get some newer pictures this weekend as she has changed her looks a little bit again as she starts the flower stretching. Hope she gains a little more height before flowering sets in. Thanks all and we will see you again shortly. Trying to catch up on journals before a busy weekend.

My for little DD are 3 days above ground. I have to say out of the nine auto seeds started together, all 4 of the DD's were the first to pop up. My fast buds GG and GSC are slower to surface. Seems to be a good indicator so far
