Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

When I watch Rex Pigeon's videos I always take a couple hoots with him. It's a courtesy thing.

Today I reached for the nug jar with the DDA. Looking at it I believe it's decarbed, and we've learned that decarbed hits harder with women. Took four teeny-tiny hits to spare the lungs and OMG.... I am super-stoned. Not stoned....that conjures images of couch lock in my mind, or eyelids trying to close, typical indica stuff. I'm high, as in really high, as in so high I can't believe I can keep typing. :laughtwo:

We know she has strong indica leanings in structure. Most of the plants grown express the indica-style leaf shape, but she doesn't hit like an indica at all. I'm really looking forward to hearing about the terp profile. If Tommy can't tell me what it is we need to get some tested.

Damn!!! What a sweet buzz. Think I'll go for a walk along the river. :cheesygrinsmiley:

When I came home I was admiring the DDAs, loving the way this top cola is changing the leaf colors.

A glistening under the leaf caught my eye. What do we have hiding under here?

IMG_645411.JPG

Oh yeah....... :laughtwo: Who doesn't like to see something that enticing? Lol!

IMG_645510.JPG

I've noted that the frostiest buds are hiding under fans many cultivators remove to increase yeild. I think this may be a mistake. It appears to me that the sheltering of the bigger fans encourages this trichome development. I've only been at this for a couple years, so I may be wrong and time may prove it, but for now I think I'm gonna be much more selective about trimming the fans off.

Why thank you Stavman. They're 79 days old now. DDA6, the indica-leaning one on the right, will obviously finish first, but she's looking more and more like a 90-day run, and who knows how long DDA7 will take. She's at least two weeks behind in development.

Couldn't resist. :battingeyelashes:

Starting to foxtail all over, but they're so dark you can't photograph it. :laughtwo:

I was wondering how it looked down a branch. :yahoo:

How long does it usually take dda to finish? 90days? Sweet seeds says 60-70 but it seems like bs

I've had them finish in 65 days, but I don't find that to be the norm. Mine typically come in somewhere between 70-90 days, and I had one take 96. I try to follow bobrown14's lead and let them go until the pistils have all changed, but I don't have the patience to wait that long. I don't believe a single one of mine came down completely changed. Every time I chop, flip them over and find new pistils popping underneath. I'm thinking with DDA6 I might do a partial harvest of the finished buds and let the rest finish maturing.

What I have learned is to let them go as long as I can make myself wait. The volume they pack on in the final week can be breathtaking.

All these beautiful pics I keep seeing I think im gonna have to do my own DDA grow

There ya go Cannoisseuras. :battingeyelashes:  We do make them look tempting, don't we? Wait until you taste your first one. Bet you plant another right away. :laughtwo:

I am gonna be running a bunch of autos DDA is one of them red poison, bloody skunk, Pineapple Express, and a couple other, I am running Co2 I am gonna be using a mars hydro reflector 192, 315w LEC 3k bulb, I planned on DWC, but I am having water temp issues, I almost lost all my clones last night with slimey roots i threw them into soil immediately last night, that was my multiple site Tupperware style DWC, my regular 5 gallon buckets with 8" or 6" net pot are all still healthy roots I have been throwing 20oz bottles frozen into each res daily but I am seriously concerned about starting any new in DWC Bc summer isn't even here yet, my a/c portable works great but still water temps get high under 1000w hps and 315w lec cmh, any advice I would appreciate, I am not much of a auto grower i usually run photo Bc I LOVE plant training. Here

are all the autos I am getting my friend sent them to me they should be here today, I am thinking about throwing them into fabric soil pots 5 gallon with FFOF, again any advice greatly appreciated

I've always treated them as light feeders. They will claw the leaf tips pretty readily, but I think that is more a characteristic of the plant than nutrient usage. I havent burnt any of them up yet, but they all claw. I feed once a week at the water change, and top off with plain water during the week. Last grow the heaviest I remember feeding was 18ml/15L or about 1.2ml/L. Next cycle I'll boost the nutrients if y'all will remind me and we'll see what they can take. :)

I grew three of them so far, the third is about to finish in a few Days. Treated every single of them with a lot of nutes and they did just fine. Just a little bit of burnt leaf tips. Starting with first feedings at the age of 7 Days, giving bloom nutes from the beginning. They kinda like that more than veg nutes. Maybe it depends on what Nutes you use. They seem to do fine with the HESI lineup except TNT Complex, which is like a rocket fuel for them. I grew Blue Dream Autos side by side to the DDA´s, but the BDA was nute burnt way faster than the DDA.

I´m using very Light Soil from beginning to the end, no repotting. Something like Plagron light Mix, just a little lighter. Pot size was 9 liter, first feeding at Day 7, starting with 1/8 Bloom Nutes and ending up giving a full scheme of Bloom Nutes, 3/4 Scheme of Phosphourus Plus, 1/2 Scheme of Hesi Boost. Not even that booster did any damage. And i did not ever made a break with feedings, there was not just a single watering without feeding except flushing at the end.

I am getting a ton of autos soon and you know I usually don't run autos, but I wanted red poison that's what started all this, Pineapple Express is also a great one Bc of the breeder G-13 labs, I love there genetics, I hope between co2 and strong lights I can turn these autos into beautiful ladies, but again no experience with them

I just started some autos in FFOF soil in 5 gallon fabric pots too. Also I'm not using my 1000 watt hps. I decided to run 3 mars gen 1 LEDs 300 watts each. I have 4 DD, 4 GG, and 1 GSC just put in soil. Hopefully I can control the heat this summer. I've always vegged with the LEDs. It's going to be interesting to see how they work in flower

I've been flowering under LEDs for more than a year now. I have nothing but good to say about them.

I am so excited! I was checking the trichomes on DDA6 and noticed the stalks are filled with a reddish oil. I wish I had a better camera. So far they're all clear at the top, but how cool is this? :laughtwo:

I started noticing and trying to photograph. Not an easy thing when you're this buzzed and the phone moves when you hit the button. Geez.... I keep forgetting I can use the earbuds. Well.... that's not easy either. Takes two hands to hold the phone.

Anyway... Look

The entire plant has trichomes like that. I don't offhand recall this happening before. That's the second time tonight I stopped and wondered at the improbability of this not happening before. Hmmmm..... I don't always check my DDAs. I wait until I see them wash cloudy and then I harvest. It's easy for me to see against the dark buds.

Has anyone else had this happen? Am I so myopic that I missed it?

OK, I checked the other plant, and it also has the same thing. So it's me. :cheesygrinsmiley: Goodnight my devilish friends. :hugs:

They're 81 days old now Stavman. DDA6 will come down sometime in the next week. Her fans are changing quickly now.

DDA7 looks like she has at least three more weeks in her.

When I take DDA6 I'll be following her up with a Devil's Carnival, a cross between Carnival and DDA. I'm hoping one of the seeds turns out to be a photo, a distinct possibility that's already occurred in TheRedDragon's grow.
