Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

I harvested my Sweet & Sour Devil's Crack today. They carried the DDA smell, and bud color. But no purple on the leaves.

:bravo::drool:

Beautiful specimen rifleman! I like the name to :) What strains does this include along with the dark devil? I have yet to get around to your journal and have a skim thru and sub up, it's literally on a tab in front of me in my browser waiting patiently lol

It's a cross of DDA fem pollen made with CS, and then crossed to a Mephisto Sour Crack. :)

Give us a quick rundown on everything you've done to her up to now LTS. Let's see if we can save her.

Nothing!!!! No nutes yet just Ph 6.5 tap water she has been in the same pot since she popped out of the soil. My runoff is 6.0 she is under a mars reflector 144 both switches on full spectrum 28" away from canopy!! Looks like my soil is garbage full of bark seems to be to acidic but it don't show in ph runoff tests seems to be about perfect. So all in all HELP!!!!!!!!! Lol!!!! Thank Sue your the best I am 6 DDA SEEDS in the hole now with 1 more chance !! I've been putting to much time into all this trimming and neglected my babies!!!Live-Love-Learn

Sad Day:rip:My 2 little DDA's passed on, something made a meal of the youngins. sigh,--- Well, time to move on, :Namaste: need to keep the joy alive, 2 more seeds in soil. :cheertwo: Mighty impressive buds there Rifleman.

Hey there, we may have a quick solution to this. But we will need a few more pieces of info to know for sure.. Lets save this baby

What kind of medium are you using? Is it a soil less mix or is it soil with nutrients already available in it?

How big is the pot you have this plant in? If it is under 1 gallon I would say give it a transplant to a bigger home before it shows signs of flowering, at day30 I am surprised it hasn't yet.

And finally, what are the temperatures and humidity levels you are seeing in your grow space? Just in case... It's good to know.

Once you let us know those few other things we should be able to diagnose this issue you're having.

Because DDAs are autos, they're typically classified as ruderalis and take qualities from both indicas and sativas the way a hybrid would but I personally think they tend to be more sativa-like than indica-like as SweetSue makes brownies with it that she eats every morning and that gets her revved up to take on the day, which seems much more like a sativa than an indica to me.

However, I will await Sue's response as she's truly the expert here.

And, most everyone on here besides me probably knows about nutes. I don't personally garden as my husband is the grower in our house but I'm learning and hope to grow after I retire when I have more time to learn and do.

Hi everyone. I just put 4 DDA beans in water. I just wanted to ask a couple of questions. First how tolerant are they to nutes. I'm in soil. Second I can't find a description of if it's a indica or a hybrid. I'm going to be using 3 gen 1 Mars 300 watt LEDs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 

Here is my day 58 update. Everything is still going great and both the leaves and buds are a lovely color of purple. I'm gonna let it go for about 2 more weeks and then keep an eye on it daily and harvest when I have a 50/50 mix of cloudy and amber trichomes.

A sweet little one. :battingeyelashes:  Let her go until most of the leaves turn color. That deep purple against the autumnal coloration is a sight to behold, and yours is doing some of the prettiest change. Don't let anyone give you smack about growing a DDA. When you smoke it you'll smile at their ignorance and consider yourself blessed.

:welcome: to the community garden MiOutdoorsman. :hugs: Autos prefer a light touch with nutrients, but the person to ask is really Rifleman. He grows hydro, but he also grows these monsters. :laughtwo: Lets see what his take is. I grow with Doc Bud's HBB kit and always go a little light on the DDAs.

The DDA is a hybrid. There are two phenotypes and I have both growing in my garden right now.

I have an inquiry to Tommy at Sweet Seeds concerning the terpene profile for the strain. When I hear back from him I'll ask him.

I love the way they look in sunlight. :dreamy:

:adore: :bravo: I stand in awe Luke. Now harvest the rest, get on that bike and head this way. :laughtwo:

Keep breathing. You still have one more, and we can work out something if anything goes wrong. All's well. We'll figure this out.

I'm impressed with the quick turnaround. :laughtwo:

I've always treated them as light feeders. They will claw the leaf tips pretty readily, but I think that is more a characteristic of the plant than nutrient usage. I havent burnt any of them up yet, but they all claw. I feed once a week at the water change, and top off with plain water during the week. Last grow the heaviest I remember feeding was 18ml/15L or about 1.2ml/L. Next cycle I'll boost the nutrients if y'all will remind me and we'll see what they can take. :)

That was what I expected to hear. I do a nutrient drench followed by two plain waterings and they grow beautifully for me. If you're game Luke, that would be most helpful. :battingeyelashes:

Susan ! Of course I'm game ! :biglaugh:

My problem will be remembering to do it. I have so many different plans for grows in my head that I get lost sometimes. It's a never ending stream of ideas on what to grow, seed, cross, and breed. No BS I will have a hard time settling on what to grow come September. Too many possibilities.

I dedicated this year to learning my three basic strains as thoroughly as I can and finding the best method to grow them. You have me ready to break out the pump and 5-gallon bucket and start one in DWC. I have an excellent nutrient line from the MOTY that doesn't require checking pH that I'm hankering to try.

When I started growing it was with LOS, so I have all the propaganda in my head about soil growing plants with a more exotic terpene and cannabinoid profile. With what I'm seeing in nutrient lines these days, I'm not certain that that story is true, or at least I'm not certain that the difference is enough to be concerned with. I grow for medical reasons and I understand cannabinoid therapies enough to know a plant grown with care and love and stressed to the max without killing it will produce the profiles I'm seeking in great enough quantity to meet my needs. This idea that soil is the end all and be all is a bit ludicrous to me. Growing with hempy has completely changed my perspective.

I'll be there to remind you when you start growing again Mr McCain. :battingeyelashes:

I'm curious, does the ultimate authority of your roost ever climb on that bike and take off cross-country with you?

Occasionally. Used to be everytime but the last couple years being retired I tend to wander when she can't. Not that I planned it like that you know.

You already know, you ever get out to The Burgh you look me up. :battingeyelashes:

I hope to make it in August. I have to make one last trip to Lake Erie for a memorial service and will need a pick me up afterwards. A detour to your world sounds like the ticket. :)
