Curso's True High Brix!

I got some more fun thing's yesterday. The sour diesel #2 that hermied in my buddies tent pollinated the long running AK. I got a couple seeds from it. If they can produce like the AK and get frosty like this diesel, we'll be happy people for a long time. His is the first hermie's I've seen on the Sour Diesel and I have run it for over a year, so has he. Whatever, I'll take'em I love growing from seed, its a great present wrapped in a hard shell that you have to wait 6 months for, santa hasn't ever brought me a big ass jar full of meds (unless he put some SEEDS in my stocking).

I just finished both yours and Docs journal and I am sold! It seems the logical progression soil first fertility.

Thanks to the weed fairy for finding my way here. I joined the site because of the fine information Doc has given. Seeing results here Curso have me thinking about all delivering high nutrient food in all of the family's veggies.

Thanks for the documentation!

Thanks for joining:420: :) and looking in on my journal, it's been a fun progression. I am happy to have shared it and happy to helped in some way :high-five:

You might really luck out and find a winner in the seed lottery, lol. I once bought a gram from a shitty dispensary that opened by my house. I asked them for the best they had, and they gave me some "fire" Mango Kush. It was pretty damn good, but I found 4 seeds in it. I was kinda pissed about it, but decided to grow them out and see. I ended up with one female that turned out real well. I never took clones, but I should've. It is always fun growing from seeds like this. You never know what you will get. Definitely put some pics up...

Oh for sure I'll take pics, I started 2 of them yesterday. The plan is to flower them once they have 2 sets of leaves. I just stuck them in root riot plugs and they are chilling in the cloner.

Okay I figured there were enough pages of blah, blah so...Here is most of what is left in flower. They are on week 7 and haven't had brix yet this week my sprayer is being just stupid and I haven't gotten around to getting another one just yet. I think they look pretty okay.

howdy Curso!
some beautiful specimens indeedlies! im loving the structure of your sour diesel, alot of very nice bud sites... i just got a couple of 7/8 sour diesel beans so i'm hoping they can grow and produce like yours have! :thumb: i love the different structures of all of your plants, makes for an interesting grow! and is aesthetically quite beautiful to sit and look at and enjoy the differences in colour, aroma and of course their structure and branching :cheesygrinsmiley: fascinating plants to be sure.
this might be a redundant question but im gonna ask anyway :] do you think high brix growing can be applied to hydroponics?? .. similarly to organics with such products as the BPN line?? i know flairform has a product called 'grostorm' which focuses on higher brix that can be applied from seedling right through to harvest... but that is just an additive not a base nute. what im thinking about is converting a few hydro pals who are hydro purists but focus on cash croppers(not to detract from quality!) to something like high brix where sugar levels and the like are improved.. and myself with a 2nd or 3rd grow space dedicated to innovative applications in hydroponics/aeroponics.

keep up the green work brother! /|\

Thanks Alk!! I think anything is possible. Although no is an honest answer. High brix is a soil life thing, not sugar, yes the refractormetor tells us the carb content of the plant matter, but it's not adding sugar that will raise it. Adding sugar turns the friendlies into crackheads and then they die off. I guess if you had an "alive" hydro system it could be possible, though highly unlikely that the results would be similar to Doc's, Steppenwolf's or my own. All I can say is go for it, let us know how it goes.

Hey bro! I don't Curso would mind me chiming in here.....

As of right now, this moment, hydroponics will not deliver the kind of quality that living, mineralized soil will deliver. There are many reasons for this, but the main reason is that in hydro, you're feeding the plant directly, while in high brix we're feeding the soil, which feeds the plant indirectly via mycorhyzza on the roots.

Most of what's in our soil isn't available to the plants at all....it must be broken down by microbial action and then fed to the plant. We spay the plant to feed to soil.....and the soil in turn feeds the plant. We don't mix nutes....the microbes do all that for us. We can coax them into doing certain things, but the way they do it is entirely up to them and the plant.

Having said that, I have a friend who used to share the growroom with me and he is a hydro wizard. We tested one of his best plants at 15brix....which is fantastic! However, most of his plants were in the 8-10 range, which is on par with a normal organic grow done well.

It could be that as we learn more and more, hydroponics might improve to the point where nutrient dense produce is possible. I would certainly welcome such a development! But as of right now, we're not there yet.

Yep I don't mind at all Doc. :) Thanks!!!

The Pineapple Skunk made it to a jar this morning. I trimmed them up with my wife sitting next to me, she said it smelled like rotten fruit. PERFECT!!! That's what we were looking for, now for a cure. I'll be making some butter with the sugar leaf and some double chocolate chip cookies to follow. The ps that has been in the jar is fantastic, but the one that I just jarred up is much more fragrant. The babies from that plant are really skunky in veg.

GSC's are probably hitting jars later today, they look like they'll be some of the best I'll have ever smoked, to date. The GSC I have flowering are going to blow them away though.
