Curso's True High Brix!

heya Curso!

thanking you for the reps good Sir! and also thanking you and Doc Bud for the information and confirmation! fascinating to hear about those brix levels in hydro- 15 seems like quite an achievement! this is an interesting topic and a direction i would sincerely LOVE to see hydroponics move toward, with the line i am using there is one additive that claims to add a little to 'brix levels, oils and taste' but it is just a single organic additive(=Improve Hydroponics Growth & Plant Yield | 100% organic based nutrient additive) and its honestly difficult to discern truth in alot of these labelled statements.. im not well versed in other hydroponic nutrient lines so im not sure if other lines offer a similar additive to increase brix, oils and nutrient density etc i wonder if there would be potential for improved delivery systems maybe.. or other ways to introduce and support higher brix in hydro/aero.. i'm going to look at this and see if i can dig anything up.

thanks again!

I hope you find some good info bro :)

Tomorrow is restock and get these vegging plants ready. I'm going to grab a 30lb bag of the best quality worm castings I can find, 2 Solo 418 1-Liter One-Hand Pressure Sprayer's and some more pro-mix hp. It's looking like tomorrow will be transplant day. I really want them to set in those bags before they meet the hps. I'll probably stake them and tie them up some while I'm at it. We'll see what I come up with. The fun thing about using the kit is...I can force bloom them with 2 products (one is included the other is Bloomit) and stop the stretch before it even happens if I choose.

I really liked Doc's method of standardization for transplanting, I'm going to do that method with these 2 gallon pots into the 7gl. I'll take pics tomorrow. :peace:

i like the idea of being able to control bloom and stretch with nutrients like that! awesome :thumb:

It's pretty amazing what soil energy does, playing with it is the fun part :high-five: It's really cool to watch how the plants react to the drenches.

All my plants will get sprayed with brix today at some point, they could really use it too, they look good, not great. I'm just waiting for things to open to get this shit rolling today, I should have picked this stuff up yesterday but the casino sounded more fun. Yep I won, I'm smart enough to know when I am up enough to make up for my wife's loses and cash out (I love roulette lol..I doubled up in 30 minutes). So I broke even at the end of the day ;)

Okay those Solo sprayers are awesome!!!! Best toy I've bought for my grow in a while.. It sprayed a quart of brix on my plants in like 2 minutes flat. They really liked it!!! They responded to it so well, it was almost like they said "you've been doing it wrong this whole time, you dummy". They really swelled about an hour after they got sprayed. They all also got a top dressing of worm castings, I'll give them some tea tomorrow it's to late in their day to play with it today. NOTE TO DOC'S KIT USERS...SPEND THE $25 ON A GOOD SPRAYER!!!!

Soil...man its nice, I am really looking forward to this run. It'll be run 3 of this soil its been amended and cooked for 2 weeks (I think) now. I took 2/3 of the cooking soil and added 1/2 of a 2.8cft bag of pro mix hp and 20'ish pounds of worm castings. Mixed it all up in a 50gl tub and letting it chill out for a couple days before I start transplanting. I am going to transplant into 7 gallon bags.

The remaining 1/3 of the soil will continue to cook and will be used as a topdressing along with the recharge, it should be a really happy flowering period for these 6 plants. It got about 5 lbs of worm castings mixed into it as well. All and all I think that I have a really good plan with these plants (for once...lol) and it looks like it is completely executable.

That's good to know - jus' got mine yesterday! I got the one with the extended, rotatable nozzle. :thumb:

Say, maybe you can tell me, Curso. I spent the last couple months reading all of your journals, along with the other high brix growers - Steppenwolf, Hash Hound, Icemud, BID (Doc's too of course). I have 60 gallons cooking for August but I have 5 plants in what seems to be good 6-5-3 soil with brix readings over 10, so I want to use Doc's foliars and drenches on those to get a feel for how they work. Since these aren't in perfect soil and since they all missed the first shot of transplant (5 weeks old now - 12/12 for 3 weeks) I wasn't sure whether Transplant or Energy would be better. So ... I gave the two non-flowering ones Transplant and the flowering ones Energy. I'll alternate from here.

What's the difference in their effects?

Transplant will make for some really pretty buds, its on the reproductive (organic) side of things. It will add trics and get calyxes to stack really nice.

Energy is to the veg or growth side of things and bulks and swells.

Switching the 2 makes pretty swollen buds. The reason I am going to try to finish on transplant weeks is for the tric production.

Don't forget the tea, gotta put the guys in the field for them to be able to play. You don't want to cook dinner for 10,000 people and no one show up ;)

Ok, so it seems I did it backwards, hmm. Yep, I mixed Tea with both. If Transplant grows buds, why use it at transplant time? It would seem you'd want veg growth ... or ... did you Say it backwards ... heheh.

:hmmmm:

I couldn't get the high quality worm castings I had hoped, these seem to be the most available in my area. Some of the mise en plas I got today.

I was just about to PM you about this same topic. Helps me out so much bro. Are you doing Feed, water, water, feed? Or are you feeding more often? I am starting to feed a little more often. As in feed, water, feed on some plants later in flower. They seem to respond really well.

Let me know how that sprayer works. I bought a Mondi sprayer, looks just like the one you bought. It is a POS. Water comes out in a stream, not a fine spray. And yeah, I adjusted the nozzle.

Dude I love the sprayer, the plants loved it too :high-five:

I'm still doing feed, water x3, feed, yes and brix weekly (I missed last week). What is going to get transplanted in the next couple days will...Only get sprayed every other week. I water less more often in early flower and deep soak in late flower once a week. That will all probably change with the 7gl pots though. I think the pot is bigger than my res...

Edit: The single cola gsc that I had harvested, I fed energy 1/2 strength every other watering week 7 on and no transplant past week 6.

It gave me .7oz more than the topped one that I had fed normal.
