Crumbs To Brix: Archiweedies' Organic, 4x8

The only other thing I can think of is I changed the photperiod from 18/6 to 16/8. Previously, the cycle was off from 2 pm to 8 pm. I gave it a longer day of ‘sun’ and the lights are now off from 8 am to 4 pm. This change took place on January 15th. That would have been roughly two weeks ago.
And That 2 hrs. difference is making them bloom. Now I know to stay at 18/6. I've been running veg lights 24 hrs. a day. I'm probably wasting elec. though, as I've had success at 18/6 before. I'm in the process of ordering Docs kit, and all my clones are now back in COM Stonington blend soil. And I got 42 gal of 1st. run cooking. I'm not going to use the amendments, just the rest of the kit, till I find out if it will work with anything except promix hp. I couldn't just toss 40 gal of one time use soil . i'll see what happens. Did you mix your container, during the cooking process. my containers don't seem to be getting warm on sides, like I expected ?? By the way, that's a big improvement on your pics. So just about caught up on your journal, and then I'll go back to doc buds , where I'll never catch up !! And I'm still fighting the low RH !! i can see a big improvement in your grow since switching to the kit . Good luck !!:surf:

Yes it could start bloom , but would most likely not continue , as 16 hrs. of daylight is far too much for a specific chemical to build up to sustainable levels,..that s how it works. Once that chemical(can't think of its name right now) builds up to a critical level...bloom is triggered . I was very surprised when i found out some pistils were happening. I'm still learning too......lots.....cheers.:high-five:

Quite true, but what about the change from 18/6 to 16/8? Outdoor plants gradually go into flower as they sense the hours of daylight lessening (mine started about 3 weeks after the solstice). Couldn't a sudden two hour change do the same thing?

^That.

I was surprised at how much the rate of change affects the blooming hormones. I don't remember - were they mature already?

Hey Archie...i just store them in my dresser drawer....its cool...dark...air tight...and dry....all that is nessesary.
I stored seed in my frig, in little zip lock bag, inside a plastic medicine bottle, for 3 years, and my personal belief is, that they could stay there for 5 or more yrs.. And who knows at what point seeds become useless ? But your dresser probably is just as good, Duggan.

No one knows, but If I had to guess, I'd guess it could start the blooming process and once that happens, if you continue growing it in veg. mode, then it'll take about two weeks or more to revert back . Best move is to put that plant into 12/12 now
Puffer...NO SIR! 16/8 is more than enough day light hours to ward off bloom. I have had ZERO issues with that photoperiod since adapting it yrs. ago to save money on electric costs. I just don't want growers to think they need to burn their lights for 18 friggen hrs. when it is NOT necessary!
Well you never told me ? And if you say that works, I'll switch immediately. I have long faith in your abilities !!
.

Extreme supercropping! We'll name a new technique after you :). Give them some support and see what happens. The tops should turn up and anything growing along the flat stems and below should start to grow. Certainly not the way Duggs or I would have done it, but anything for science!
I know guys I’m kicking myself I guess. Live and learn yea? I was trying to bend the branch so that at 90 degrees it would be flat to the canopy.

Tell y’all what if it works out well name it after me. If not we forget this happened lol.

I can see the tops already turning and they are basically growing into their own colas.
Ya but , then it will all be for nothing. I would support them however, so they can't slip down past 90 degrees ...or horizontal. They will be fine , and by the look of things this will help 'fill in' the tent way better too cuz now the 'inside' will get way more light, and room to really grow now.

It might look bad now, but I think once the foliage has grown in it’ll be fine. It’s like Rogaine

Yeah guys I’m good to go on 16/8 especially with a 1000wHPS in there and all the shit it takes to maintain my environment. Which is another reason why I should avoid bone head moves like The Archiweedies SuperChop. I digress.
I’m not surprised or saddened that bloom started I asked Duggan if it was a big deal and he explained the benefits of 16/8 and he also explained why changing the actual lighting schedule would be smarter for me. I don’t think it was the 16/8 that triggered flower I have to assume it was the changing when the dark period actually was/is. They used to sleep from 2pm to 8pm. Now they sleep from 8 am to 4pm. That way they are asleep when I’m not home and awake when I am.
^That.

Hey Gray! Not sure if that question was meant for me or Shed. My plants are mature if by mature you mean alternating nodes and showing preflowers. Thanks for always checking things out here. I know you kinda lurk but it’s nice always having you here. Means a lot

Thanks SP I thought the refrigerator had been deemed safe. Good to get validation on that. :thumb:

I thought about asking Duggs if we should flip. Then, I looked at my calendar( also a Duggan mandate ) and turns out I had changed the photoperiod two weeks almost to the day of when I noticed the plant was flowering. I’m certainly no authority, but it usually takes two weeks for flowers to show up after flowering is induced right? Sometimes a week more?

Point is, if I flipped when I saw it and they’ve been getting enough daylight ever since ‘the incident’ they may have been revegging all this time ( 2 weeks). If I flip that plant will be so damn confused it could possibly hermie. I’m still a little worried it might get confused after we’re sure reveg starts and induce flower later.

I've always stored my seeds in the fridge in zip lock bag (in the breeder packs). I keep them down in the crisper. I have plants in flower now that were from 5 year old seeds stored that way. They were above ground 72 hours after planting them.

Good morning Archie and friends. Archie...you have zero to worry about . If that tent was mine, i would stay the course sir!
Leave all , as is with photoperiod and plants. Simple decision...when your tent is full enough for you , and your plants are big enough for your liking and space , flip them...not before! Watever that odd ball decides to do...she will still surprise you in the end...all will be fine. Just get those broken branches supported at 90 degrees , just so they are not below the main canopy OK...they are stressed and need time to recover and catch up. I suspect you can already see the benefits of what you did ..however extreme..no worries. Next time you will be a teacher of SCing and not a student , because of this learning going on. cheers bud!

No worries Archie, I did the same thing to two go my Destroyer colas not long into flower. I had to stake them up for a week or two and them they handled it on there own. I could have taken the support away much sooner but didn't want to risk it.

They will fill out and be beautiful, and your next run will be so much smoother!
Thanks DJ! I got in there this morning and made some stakes from some shop scraps I had laying around. THey are all supported properly, just need some time and a little Destress :thanks:

Thanks Neiko, I have plenty of space in my extra fridge in the garage. I think I might put the next seeds Im planning in there for the next cycle and see how it goes, for science!

Thanks Duggan for the encouragement. I am staying the course, no doubt. Im not worried about height anymore for the time being. Im waiting, at this point, for signs that Durban is revegging and that the plants have all bounced back from their training. The upside is that I am fairly satisfied that the canopy is coming together, just waiting for some of the lower shoots to make it there. The challenge is slowing down the leaders long enough for the lower shoots to get to their level. I can see how SC'ing can help with that. :thumb::thanks::high-five:

I think a proper update is due. Possibly this evening. Cheers all!

Nice garden...have you obtained any 4 ft stakes yet? You may/will need them deep into bloom ...to help support those horizontal branches. Stakes go in right at the edge...down to the bottom of the pot , following the contour of the pot. So..a slight outward angle....then use pipe cleaners to secure branch or limb to stake. Makes it easy ...i like to put three or four around the outside (when needed)....then there is support everywhere...Cheers man!
