Crashdog's 1st Grow Journal - How To Torture Small Leafy Things - DWC

Welcome aboard Lonestar,
Many mistakes have been made but it's been a great learning adventure.

Thanks Growchy and Blue.

I got a Liberty Haze about 2 wks old just itching to get into a DWC but i did marathon watch of Game of Thrones instead of building a new DWC bucket. I'm also waiting for my clones to root.

So,
Tonight was a little nip and tuck minus the nip.
Screen is almost full

These gals are so dense I wonder if I should of defoliated some. What are your opinions on that? If yes, when should I do it?. I read somewhere day 22 and 44 of flower. I guess that would allow me to see what buds are not getting light and what leaves to cut.

Typically in a scrog you'd remove underneath the screen for the most part. You can defoliate throughout the veg phase. Seems like a scary thought looking at it since it's currently ALL beneath the screen but it won't be for long. Def keep as much on until after the first two weeks maybe three of flower or you'll hurt the stretch, which you will be relying on to get all that above the trellis. Don't want to be the one to suggest this but you thinking about flipping soon? They look close to ready but you have way more space than our cabs so you may benefit from waiting until your tops grow through a few inches.... but keep in mind that gold leaf is a three times stretcher!

Another weekend, Another rez change.

When doing the Rez change today and cleanup I noticed a new smell. It was familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time. Not very pleasant. I hope it's not smell of a flowering AK-47 and a Golden Leaf combined. Jeez, I'm gonna throw Wilma and Wendy in there soon. I wonder how much worse that will smell.

Dam dog hairs were clogging up the fan.

Here are some pics of the Flowering gals

Trying to keep that canopy even.

Here's our favorite duo. The Widow sisters.
I was going to put Wilma in this weekend but I think I'll just put them both in next weekend. It will make it easier to feed.
They will be 3 wks behind the other 2.

If you look close you can see the Liberty Haze under the dome. I've been holding her her hostage in there for 2 long waiting for those dam clones to root. Her leaves are yellowing. I'll have to build a DWC bucket for her tomorrow............. Crap. Maybe Wilma and Wendy are going in the tent tomorrow. I need room under that light. They both look ready. Maybe the cukes will have an accident....

Started building a cloner today. Sprayers coming tomorrow. Can't get my clones to root. My own fault. I move them to much checking for roots. This cloner should help. If it works I'll post pics tomorrow.

My next two are in coco for that very reason. But my rdwc just went to flower so I have time to install a screen. Wanted to see it was worth the fuss

Well, without the scrog, mine are a lot more spread out than they otherwise would have been and will probably yield more. They will certainly take up more space.

How are you changing the res while under the screen?

I use battery operated pump. It has to go thru the screen to empty but there is enough play in the string to get it thru,, carefully!!. I have to slide the lid off a bit to fit the head of the rod in but my scrog is so light moving the lid moves the whole scrog. It take 2 D batteries and I'm on my second pair. I have to use it for the 2 cuke/tomatoes tote also. Probably start a 3rd set of batteries before the grow is over.
Filling is a lot easier. Don't have to go thru the scrog

After this grow I will probably only use it during veg for LST instead of tying everything down.
Props to Greengo for that idea. I kept the legs short to accomplish this.

Would i use it again during flowing? no. I would just grow more plants. much easier.

oh ya, the picture

Cheers Doggy!
I've put myself in the position where a scog is probably out of the question for my next grow. I took my clones before the mothers' flowered and recently moved them into a greenhouse. That means that they'll be at least 10 weeks old before they can go back in the tent. This also means I'll have to top them repeatedly beforehand. LST and supecropping will be the order of the day.

That being said, if I were to start from seed again, a scrog would most definitely be on the agenda at least for the early LST!

Glad to see your grow is progressing so well, Crashdog. This is my first visit back to your journal since my rebirth. And, ummmmm, can I borrow that thing next weekend? I have a hot date.

Ya, I had a weird dream awhile back but most of the details are foggy.

The last thing I remember was having a few puffs with this guy and something about him helping me grow weed. I can't remember what I was going to give him in return for helping me.
