Crashdog's 1st Grow Journal - How To Torture Small Leafy Things - DWC

You've used the tea before? Seems like an uncomplicated mix, I was going to do a real simple one with just molasses, worm castings, and the homes compost.

Do you put just straight water for the produce? Or are you running nutes with them also?
[/qoute]
Nope, first time.

Yes, produce has nutes.

Hey Crash! Those roots look gorgeous! Are you using Hydroguard or anything?

Sent from my iPad using 420 Magazine

Yup, using Hydroguard.

It's funny. I just got back from a pre season softball team get together. And I find out someone else is just starting his first grow. So we are comparing notes. And other people are shocked to find out that I'm growing and they are like " but you don't even smoke" and "we'll help you get rid of it." It's good to know it wont go to waste HAAAA

Change of Plans
Goldie and Alice are getting to big. Can't wait any longer I took some clones off of them and set them to flower.

I yanked Wilma and Wendy. Wilma has another 2 weeks and only Wendy knows when she will go into flower. So I made room for those 2 in the veg room with the clones.

I think I waited to long for Alice and Goldie before I put them into flower. I think i need a bigger scrog. At least they have the whole tent and their own light.

Goldie (Golden Leaf) on the right

Looks like a good time to flip, we flipped after the net was damn near full and it got really crowded and the gold leaf probably stretches double what the Northern Lights did. you caught them just in time. It's gonna be sweet watching you tuck and weave with the stretch and that net will fill up quick! Great update Crash

Thanks Growchy,
I might have to build another Scrog for the stretch. This one is just about full, not alot of places to tuck. How high do you let them stretch before you tuck them under? 2-3 inches?

Anywho,
Been a busy week at work. Not getting home in time to tuck them in. Have to feed them in the AM before work.
All 4 of the gals are doing great.

I screwed up with my cukes and tomatoes. I mixed them in the totes. Should of put the tomatoes in one and the cukes in a second. The roots are entwined so can't move them.

But who gives a rats ass about cukes and maters when we can look at pics of some lovely full figured gals.

Without further adieu I present to you the White Widow Sisters, Wilma and Wendy. Guess which one is which? Wendy is now looking like a keeper. She just needed some tlc. Started some LST'ing this am.

Now for the Main Attraction. Lets head on over to the main circus tent and check out the ladies under the big top.
I've moved them back further to make room for Wilma. Wilma will probably be joining her 2 big sisters in a week or 2.

Day 5 Flower.

This AM - Alice (AK-47) on the left. Goldie on right

And here are some of the gals after the move this evening

Might not even do a RDWC system at this point. Yes, It's more work keeping track of who gets what feeding but if they are staggered 2 or 3 weeks apart Ill have new stock more often. On the other hand it's probably gonna be way to much work and I'll have to much other shit going on in the summer and they will all die. Or,,,, it's probably even more likely that I'll just get bored of this and move on to new Newbdome with some other untried activity. Only time will tell.

Quick update of the Gals.

Day 9 of Flower

Alice and Goldie. Already tucked them under once.

And a few shots of Wendy and Wilma. I've noticed that since they have been switched from LED to T5's they stretch a bit. I think the led's were really keeping them nodes close. I couldn't stand the purple anymore, it was seeping out the windows even with a tarp over them.

Wow, your setup and progress has been in leaps and bounds looking really good Crash, our Goldie is budding up like mad! Isn't it crazy how addicting this all is? We went from one lady in a small cab and we now have two brand new Northern Lights newborns in a brand new cab build l, the gold flowering like crazy in another and a jack Herer bushing up in the Growchy Veg cab... just sitting in a corner scratching thinking about genetics lol. Great job Crash you are gonna need some Ona Gel pretty soon haha

How far away are the fluorescents? Gotta drop em to half a foot they have no power past that even at a foot you're losing out! Forget the blurple bro they do work but much improvement has been made in leds that anything less than full spectrum just isn't necessary. If your not strapped for cash we have seen immense improvement in our grows with the perfect sun mini we grabbed. Excellent quality for the price (not cheap though!) any good, good progress can't wait to see some fat flowers in your tent!

They are like 3-4 inches away depending if its an outer or inner bulb. Its just above my dome. back of my hand is just a little warm.
I have to wait till this grow is over before I spend any more cash. I might be burnt out on growing by then. who knows?

HAH! I don't believe you.... leds def keep nodes stacked tight basically all we use. Don't even start seedlings on Cfl's any more.

How far away do you start your seedlings from your led's and what wattage is your led at the wall?

Roughly 28-34" the mars 300 draws around 145 w and the bloombees draw 80w each and the perfect sun mini draws around 125 from wall but the mini has a very high intensity directly below it so we use the mars and the other ones for the seedlings the mini sees them after the seedling stage
