Crashdog's 1st Grow Journal - How To Torture Small Leafy Things - DWC

Ya, I am a firm believer of Hydroguard or similar products. If you go back in my journal you can see where I thought I might have had root rot but it was just nute staining after my first res change. I check my roots most nights for smell and slime. But now that I have a scrog I won't be able when it goes into flowing.

As long as you have the res under control before flowering you may still be able to look if you have enough room to just pop the lid and slide the bucket a little you can peek in. We gave up on the scrog for that reason but we got a transfer pump which works okay. And with those buckets you have changing the water should be a breeze .

Ok cool. I use great white. Same kind of stuff I guess. Water is at 68f and I use black tubing. Roots are a pearl white. Sounds like I might be on the right track. Water temp might become a bit of a battle when turn on the hps's though

Res temp tip: make sure your air pump is near an intake so it's not pumping heated air into the res. 68f should be good though! Yes it sounds like your doing everything you should be .

Pump is outside the tent
Thanks for the tips! I'll take a seat now. Didn't mean to crash anyone's thread lol

Nice work! A bit of advice, I'm running a rdwc and wanted my res out of the tent. But because you have to run the hoses out it is now almost as high as the water level in the buckets and won't flow. At least for me. Any suggestions would be great because I'd love to have my res outside the tent. Especially during flower.

In my mind, the only way around it is to cut a slit at floor level. Not sure I'm ready to cut my tent yet though

Elevate the grow buckets. You can raise them so the standing water level is just below the net pots, or raise them further and use a stack pipe to set the level in the last bucket in the return stream.

No worries.

You're not crashing anything. Your helping figure my shit out with your questions. I looked closer at my tent. I will have to set my buckets up 2-3 inches higher to line up with the vent.

I just did a rez change on the back bucket thru the scrog. Using a battery pump. Sucking it out - Pain in the ass. Pumping it back in- Easy. I hope i can move the plant a few inches when there is a bunch of it growing up thur the scrog without hurting it.

So you have to reach in to that one plant bucket and remove that little elbo (stack) to drain the buckets? What is the least vertical height you can have your grow buckets above your reservoir? I just wondering about how much height leeway will be taken away from max light height. I have no Idea how how high any of my plants will grow but i do know my minimum led distance from plant. but my LST and scrogg'n should help with that.

Yep, I just lift the side of the lid and pull out the stack. It's a loose fit so it comes out and goes back in easily. The height of the grow buckets was dictated by the need to accommodate other equipment in the tent, otherwise I'd have set the height to maintain water level equilibrium with the reservoir.

I just built a bigger better badder RDWC system today so this one will be retired or repurposed.

Let's see the new rig!

He has a picture in his journal

My new chicks hatched this AM

Liberty Haze on the top and another White Widow

Keep an eye on the membrane that's still around the stem on the taller seedling, we almost lost one after the membrane, hidden under the rockwool, was choking her out. Looks like it'll be fine but if she goes dark on the stem that's the culprit!

I think that's what happened to the Super Lemon Haze auto I tried starting a month ago and it just stopped growing and the stem turned dark purple. I was so sad....

Hey Crash! Is the White Widow seed an auto? I just popped a WW auto in a glass of water today to begin my second grow. I've seen some great WW grows on here, both photo and auto. Good luck with the new girls!!!

Good call. I flipped her over and gave her a spank. She coughed it up.

The other gal (liberty haze) had her casing stuck on just like my first WW. I think I spent almost 2 days wondering what to do with the WW. Tonight I just grabbed her by the neck and had it off in 5 seconds lol

I had to add another post to my light stand so I could hang a light over her. I think the 4 t5's would of been to much for the seedlings at the hight i have it for the cukes.

Nope. I don't have any auto's .
I'm heading out your way Wednesday. Going to Everett. I hate going thru those tunnels.
Good luck on you new grow.

I brewed some Tea over the weekend and gave each of the buckets, which are holding 3 gallons, 1 cup of tea.

Wendy did not like it. She greeted me with some leaf issues and purple stems . I flushed her out this am with some pH water and and 2/3 of the nutes she's been feeding on.

The other gals did not have any issues with the Tea.

I tried it but it made me very gassy.

In other news. I killed another White Widow. She was 2 days old and really stretching. So like an idiot I tried to tuck her back into the Rapid Rooter. The next morning she was laying on her side. I tried propping her up with some tooth picks and ties but I grew impatient and yanked her out. I soaked another and she is in a rapid rooter at the moment.
What is it we me and White Widows?

I'm loving the scrog for LST. I took it off to take some pics of the roots.
Alice, Goldie and Wilma are doing well and send their love.

I'll take some clones next week from all 3 and then send them to hell. I mean flower.. ( I think i have anger issues with plants)
Alice and Golding will have been veg'n for about 6 weeks? Yikes

I've been tying to let the White Widows get big enough to flower. Wendy will be demoted to the veg room with the weed wanna be's --- cukes and tomatoes.

And as always, comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Did you post what you put in your tea on here? Before I start looking back? I'm a lazy man..

Can't wait to see that scrog net filling up it's gonna look spectacular!

I just started a cucumber myself, be sure to update pics of yours for me, yeah? I've never grown one before. I've got basil and coriander going also.

You've used the tea before? Seems like an uncomplicated mix, I was going to do a real simple one with just molasses, worm castings, and the homes compost.

Do you put just straight water for the produce? Or are you running nutes with them also?
