Cottage 420's Organic Perpetual Indoor Garden

Awesome harvest Bob. Almost 10 zips off of DT1 is stellar brother!! And over a pound and a half off of 3 plants is something I hope to get to some day.

Awesome harvest Bob. Almost 10 zips off of DT1 is stellar brother!! And over a pound and a half off of 3 plants is something I hope to get to some day.

Thanks everyone for the compliments... yeah did very well this round.

Specially since we went away for a month, came back re-filled the water res then back on the road for another 3 weeks then back to finish this round up.

I did have help about 3/4 of the way thru the August trip and got 15 gal added to the res... once these plants got big and flowers, they were drinking 60gal of water a week. I don't know how they survived the last week in September ... I'm betting Kelp Meal FTW.

Hey next round already going full steam. Man I love fall and winter and spring for growing.

Just changed some lamps so now full on 100% Vero29 V7 COBs @ 1250w. Finally no more heat. Wow what a difference.

Gotta give a shout out to Dan @ Timbergrowlights for giving me great service and custom built lamps the way I wanted them.

Everything the same but the lamps and BOOM, epic (for me) results.

The soil mix is Coots mix no-till on like the 5th round. Just keeps getting better and better.

Basically been doing water only for 7 weeks of the 13 week grow. Supplemented with several IPMs with Silica (horsetail Fern Tea + Pro-tekt + Ful-power foilered on) and a few ACTs with EWC and Kelp Meal early on and half way thru flower. I went minimal with everything but water. The plants get access to all the water they want with the AutoPot XL (7.5gal) system. All I have to do is fill the water reservoir.

My main challenge was getting plants away from the lamps, as they grew up and past the height of the lights - they were at max height.

So super stoked with this last round. We did very well with minimal effort and minimal input.

Less work = better results, it's a thing. Something I've been trying to perfect all my life!! hehehehehe :high-five:

I looked at them C-Valts.... Can't get my cheap ass to buy them. I like the gallon glass wire tops. But even they get costy. Damn I look back at the days three 4 jars wood last acouple months.... Wow was that forever ago. I use damn near that anymore for budder batches... I use these big ass film canisters my son found somewhere. Black plastic that holds, depends on if you seriously pack it between 1/2 - 1 pound of dry product. 14-inch film canister... But gallon glass canning jars are like 10 bucks at some store???

Dude you can do some serious growing under a good HID. Tested and true lights... But then it's the heat issues that come into play. I could see a LED in a tent,,, but to me better yet a HID in there. Ambient temps matter there. Unless you going to flip an AC unit in there. The Nice thing about an ac unit,, is it dehumidifies also...

And in one of them big tents,,, you need about 1200-1500 watts HID which makes alot of warmth. But if you have to get reflectors also,,, look into inline cool tubes with wings. You can leave one end open and it will help exchange the air constantly. They are cheaper than most other lights. The last 4X8 I did had 2 600 watters in it,, and temps aren't that big of a thing. They raised the ambient temp 6-7 degrees with a 6" booster fan drawing airflow thru the tubes.

Congrats on the DT. I just cut a c-99 variant. Sucker did acouple seriously major main buds on it. Mine could've been a big single cola plant in like a gallon pot. Alot could fit in a 4X4 square?? Well Keepem Green my friend

I've been wanting to try a CMH but they're so much money. I've heard mixed stories about LED heat buildup. But yeah, HID is killer with heat, even with a air-cooled hood my tent says about 10+ degrees or more above ambient heat with that radiant heat from the bulb. It's crazy, my room has been at 67 F and the 400 W MH keeps the canopy at a nice 82 F.

I agree with being too cheap for the C-Vaults. Heck I still haven't even bought new jars, I just wash them and buy new lids. But I like that they're opaque steel because I like to just leave my stash jars out on the coffee table sometimes. I've taken to tucking them under the couch instead to keep the light out of them.

Nice harvest Bob! So when you water, do you let the soil dry out much at all or keep it pretty much water-logged? I've been following the wet/dry routine for a while but I don't think it's really conducive to keeping a healthy living soil since it's kind of asking a lot of the microbes.

Hello bob! I'm looking around some, gotta say you are still doing great! It must smell heavenly in your flower room. Kudos from me and keep it up! :goodjob:

Yea Bb i wana say thanx for turning me onto this style of growing since im doing pretty much the same thing jus not with an auto pot setup u got me major jelly with those lol wish I cud afford another big upgrade n i wud get a setup like that lol wud sure make it alot easier on me but yea still gotta love the organics n the kelp meal reminder was great guna give her some of a tea using craft blend next week and I think that should boost her enuf tht i wud feel safe to flip her since she is starting to get fairly bushy and I dnt wana lose the potency of the soil b4 i put her in flower cuz ive been vegging her for alil over 3 months now ill post a pic or 2 ina min here gotta go take it first lol

ok bb here she is now after giving her a kelp tea to boost her she has started getting some of her green back again and i thought it would keep getting darker green as the time went on and she started getting healthy again but then i noticed her getting a yellowish tint to the leaves again sarting in the middle of the leaves like the center of the blades of each leaf up into the main big part so i figure ill do that craft blend stuff from build a soil n make a tea out of that and hopefully that will give her the lil xtra boost needed to heal up some more atleast the browning and burning has stopped getting worse even if she not getting better now atleast she not getting worse any more b4 i was watching her get more and more burnt each day so glad that has stopped now just need her to heal back some well i know wat is already burnt and damaged wont heal back but i mean for her to heal up in general so as the new growth starts looking dark green and actually stay that way lol anyway here she is as of 5 min ago

DT #2 = 200g dry & in the cans
DT #3 = 220g dry & in cans
DT #1 = 275g dry and in cans

So almost 25 zips dry.... 3 plants. That's off the hook for me.

Put them in flower and left for a month vacation out of country. Leave them alone, they know what they are doing!

They were clones that were in VEG about 6 weeks from roots to flower room, each plant was about 20-24" tall @ flip.

Harvest pics dried and trimmed.

DT #1 275g dry - that large C-vault holds about 6 zips dried:

All the buds are covered in long pistols like this... this is dried! Mix of white and light orange.

Hairy Cola....

You knocked this one out of the park - 3 plant home run - one man shy of a grand slam ! :thumb:

You got the flower area and your soil humming along.

Please tell me you are running those Devils Tit clones for a few more runs. Those are some sweet sounding genetics and phenotype.

Congratulations on getting everything to come together and culminate in a stellar harvest.

Right on Woody... started the tent thing with a 4x4 cool tube and HID/HPS... first grow was at least a pound dried.. plants were hanging out of the tent and had to tie them away from the lamp!

We go away for a month+ in the summer - grew thru it with HID but got scared I was going to burn my house down - we live in a twin so don't want to bake my neighbor. That worry is what got me into LED .. the blurples aren't really less heat tho but it made me feel better. Got way way less yields too and so the hunt started for better lamps.

Getting pretty close now to HID, well the low end of HID. Something tho for sure we are heading in the right direction, all it takes is $$.

My first ever grow, VVV switch to FLOWER ... hehehehe pretty small pots ... I had no idea what I was doing, did a lot of gardening but not much in containers and not a lot indoors. Don't ask me why the lean with the HID?? Super Dank Budz is my guess. Was a great harvest ... this was Blueberry from 2012, grew a lot like the Durban... my last plant went 105 days! WTF was I thinking? I still have a container of that in C-vault and it's still fresh! No shit.. gonna puff some tonight. If I get a head ache, it's all your fault Woody! hahahaha J/K

WP_20140920_001.jpg

Sometime B4 chop first round ever circa 2013...lots of yellow here too and I thought I was messing up, nothing I did could make the plants get green again! huh... go figure. Leaves were falling.... I was stressing... thought I was an idiot.. well Ok, probably am but working on it.

WP_20141204_004.jpg

And.... here we go with another harvest.

thought this was Chem ... but as always label on the clone ...someone must have moved it on me (again)... story, sticking to it, likely it's a clone of Citrus Berry or Labyrinth. I'll know when I smoke test.

Kinda smells like Chem + Citrus... maybe I popped a seed... I have a few. Oye... I'm terrible at keeping records. Prefer to mix soil.

Dolato...

DSC_003885.JPG

I have some more IHG gear getting going... Buffalato.. in water tonight.

This is the second time I've had a cortisone injection in the shoulder and got some relief. I'm not sure how long the first injection might have lasted because the doc ordered the MRI and all the damage was discovered and we headed for surgery about a month and a half later. Of course, being such a terrible patient 4 months later I had revision surgery. Doc said the tendons weren't in great condition and described them as like wet Kleenex. I had 2 rounds of physical therapy and that shoulder is pretty much pain free just not 100%. Overhead work or even reaching up is problematic.

This new doc thinks I can rehab this shoulder through exercise without surgery or going to physical therapy. I've got a print out of all the exercises and I'll give it a rip. Of course I have to stop doing things that might re-injure this thing. As for the exercises, I'll have to view this as a priority. Lakein's Law: What is the most important thing for me to do right now?

As for the back. Mine is not much better as I have degenerative disc disorder and bulging disc at L3-L4. There was one other area of minor damage and that MRI was taken 11 years ago. I still have problems but got the back better with walking and exercise. The sciatica in the right leg is much better and my walking stick is in the closet. As for muscle spasms in the low back, I still have them but it's usually a result of me trying to do too much and hydration issues. Docs all cite cigarette smoking as a root cause of DDD.

Now about oil. I have plenty of infused olive oil. One capsule gets me pretty damn high for hours. I still have whatever pain I got up with.....it's just a bit more pleasant to handle. Perhaps I'm so stoned that areas of pain are not sending intense pain signals to the brain.

I'm probably going to grow a balanced CBD/THC strain one day. Then maybe I'll be able to confirm pain killing abilities (at least for me). Inflammation causes most of my pain and I believe it possible for those finding relief for cannabis are getting some reduction of inflammation through the ECS.

Possible Ace in the hole. I'm growing my first pure indica - Pakistan Valley. I remember one website that listed the five best and I've got three of them. I'm still not convinced of pain relief of any of them. Maybe I grew them wrong.

Well with pain and I thought I had joint pain until I had a aortic embolism and almost died. I'm one of a very few that survived. I still have a 2cm embolism last time they did a MRI with chems so they can see whats what.

So I have pain from that, and it's why I'm here. Started growing weed for pain relief since they had me on opiods and wanted to me to do cold turkey... fuck that. Started with Cannabis and exercise ... kicked drugs to the curb. I've been swimming at the Y and even am at the point I'm swimming competitively thru the Masters Program. Still have some pain in my gut from the embolism but Cannabis takes care of it and its way manageable. I might take an aspirin or 3 every once in a while but thats it. Swimming helped all the joint aches I had.. still get sore but mainly from overdoing swim practice. Like today, swam 106 laps (25 meters), ouch. Gonna smoke up the last of my Chemdawg from last run, that gets rid of pain for 24 hrs.

Steroids... I try and steer clear of them but they do make exercise more fun! Had a big toe that was giving me grief... got 2 injections and it's worse now 2 years after the injections. The Comfrey Salve fixes it but not forever. Big toe pain... yeah I'm pretty lucky count my blessings every day and try and pass some around when I can. Cannabis helps me with that too... giving someone and unexpected no reason gift ... positive Karma, it's good for everyone.

Pass it on! :passitleft:

Rad said:
THC helps pain more directly, but as Magic Jim describes some of it isn't removing the pain so much as limiting how much you care as about the pain. THC helps manage the emotional component of pain as well as directly promoting healing and health.

Results = positive treatment! Chemdawg is the winner for pain "suppression" for me. Long lasting + get a good nights sleep and have fun getting there. What's not to like?

Pain, in my opinion is mostly mental. If you focus on it, you're going to feel it more. Like swimming for me, basically I'm exercising under water, and my body is using up all the stored oxygen... no matter how many breaths I take while swimming at some point it becomes a brain taking over body thing and saying stop and breath... I don't stop but pass over that mental threshold, and it's like going into another world. Instead of the feeling of drowning then my muscles start to tell me to stop, pass over that then my muscles start to cramp... work thru that ... still working thru that.. quitting time.

Smoked some Chemdawg last night.... really helped me today with all that mental exercise.

Thanks for the props... farming is work, it took me 4 years to get here where I'm at. Every dime I made doing this gig I put it back into this work and more... so hardware and flowers is what I've made. Try and do it right and pass on what I've learned from others and what I've experienced thru work and mistakes.... made lots of them. Learning is mainly thru mistake for me. Not easily forgotten, so no regrets.

I think the main thing I've leaned in container gardening is:

Less is more and water has to be potable.

-------------------------------------------------

This gal is on the hook - chopped today @ 64 days, should have chopped her earlier.
Likely ~3 zips dried.

She was in the back behind all the big ladies and I really couldn't get in there to see her until she poked her colas up to the canopy and gave me the "I'm here and I know what I'm doing, so leave me alone" hahahahaha

Had to use the loppers again..so maybe a little more that 3 zips. On the hook smells like gas and lemmons. My wife said it doesn't smell like cannabis.... well my fingers were stuck together trimming all the fans off of her so it's definitely cannabis. Lots of frosty on this one.

3 weeks in VEG.. cant wait for the frosty goodness!

DSC_003885.JPG

I think this one is DT #5 - a clone and starting to stack up.. she's a lot fatter today. She's under the 1750K + 3K COBs. Growing exponentially fatter now.

DSC_0037_2_.JPG

A little update...

Been doing very little other than transplanting seedlings and starts into larger containers. So lots of VEG plants going. Some are really ready for flowering. I've got 4 Chemdawg clones that are like 18" and getting bushy in VEG.

I put 2 of the Chems in flower last week and they still haven't shown me any flowers yet. They are stretching.

Nothing but water this round... no foilers, no IPMs just water... going to change that here shortly. We have in-laws visiting from out of county, so occupied with all that.

I finally have the whole flower room 100% LED COB Vero29 V7 3K and a few 1750K ... the Chems are vegging even in 12/12 lighting with the lamps at the top of the room @ 7'. So I "think" that's making them stretch more. Same plants different lights, when in the past the stretch was minimal. Now no flowers until the colas are closer to the lamps.

So taller plants = bigger plants = higher yields. That's what I'm thinking here, and last round 80% COBs and my yields are WAY up.

Yeah so keeping my lamps at the top of the canopy as high as I can, even Chemdawg is stretching.

And here we go:

Chemdawg (clone of the purps) in stretch :

Hey Bob, do you have a link, or list or something like that to a compilation of various different soil additives/amendments?
I've seen you mention things that I don't really see anyone else mention so wondering where you get that kind of info....Horsetail ferns for example, never seen them mentioned anywhere else other than you, but it seems like an awesome amendment

Sorry just to expand a bit.....but I'm trying to find in depth info on a variety of amendments, like how long they take to break down in specific forms, what they're sources N,P,K,Si,Ca etc...if they're slow release or fast release and so on......If there's nothing like that maybe a couple suggestions on books or sources I could look into for it :Namaste:
