DT=Devil's Tit - last time I went looking it was out of stock everywhere

Ok, thanks, gonna add that to my strain list. Can't go wrong with a strain that has "Tit" in it. LOL

DT - Mendocino Durban Poison x Acapulco Gold x C99 (male)

Breeder (SnowHigh) description:

"A Durban Poison clone was picked up by growers in Mendocino by myself. The grower had traveled to South Africa in the early 80's and specifically brought back Durban Poison genetics for breeding. The clone of Durban Poison is extremely potent, heart racing rollercoaster weeds, too much will make you sweat. The Devil came to me while under her influence and whispered in my ear, this will be the Devils Tit.

The male used in the cross was a 11 foot heavily branched monster which has been proven in many other crosses as well as this one. "

So the pheno I picked from a 10 pack of regs was this one I've been growing out. It has the color of the Acapulco Gold with the high from the Durban and the size from the C99 male. These plants are huge.... DT#3 is 4' wide and at least 7' tall w/multiple tops - well above the lights and @ the ceiling, I know the tops are up there somewhere... just cant see em. I got 5 females from the 10 pack and picked the largest most vigorous one to clone, that was before flowering.

I picked the right clone. She's got it all in spades... but its equatorial sativa leaner so she can go a nice long while in flower. Prolly could go +100 days. That's not going to happen. I'm done with those long finishers... although the wait is worth it.

I'll give them another watering with Malted Barley, the hormones in the MB help plants finish a lot faster. Coots said 25% faster with "The One" - he's been growing the one for over 25 years so I believe it. The MB tea got that Chemdawg clone going pretty fast, she's @ 39 days in flower in those pics and she's already getting orange pistols... not enough frost yet... its coming.

I messed up and threw out the males from DT for the usual reasons. I'm going to reverse one of the clones and see what I can do about making some S1 seeds.

You had me at Durban Poison!! Thanks for the scoop brother!!

You had me at Durban Poison!! Thanks for the scoop brother!!

This is heavily Durban with the size of the C99... I'm used to sitting down a doing a nice long session of puffage.. I'm not used to the 2 puff and set it down ... so I had to work my way into it with a months worth of faceplant.

It was there and someone had to do it! hahahaha

I'm a bit stubborn, go figure. My brain kept telling me .... I'm good... my other brain said ... indulge... I went with indulge.

OK so I'm having trouble with the DTs and when to harvest. So far it's been foot to the floor Sativa, race ya to the couch... It's a nice change but I'm trying to get these plants finished properly. Soooo I took some trichome shots today of a few buds I took off DT #3 - she's looking closest to finish.

There are still quite a bit of new white pistols getting thrown out... these plants are transpiring a shit ton and drinking a lot of water, so that brings up the RH after lights out to well above my comfort level @ 70-80%... that's PM/mold realm so I'm a little worried about that and at this point nothing to do about it but chop.

These plants really like the warm humid weather... there's no doubt about that from the performance.

So I took some trichome shots today on a freshie bud that was about mid height. "To me" it looks like a bunch of clear a bunch of cloudy and a bunch of amber and some amber topped mushroom shaped with cloudy stalks.

Should I chop DT #3 and let DT #1 mature some more or take my chances with them both. I've got DT #1 almost dried and about ready to trim - tomorrow trim day, so hey I have 1 in the bag, should I run these a bit longer??? All help, opinion and advice welcomed.

DT #3 - trichomes freshies - the tops look whiter...likely more clear/cloudy. The plants are just starting to smell more of lemon citrus ... prior it was more earthy funk. But I've got Chem-d in there so it's probably her stinking up the place.. I smelled gas on my way in the house today. :lot-o-toke: but in the grow room it was lemon + soil.

Chop or not chop... ???

There's small % of trichomes that have just the mushroom head amber... never seen that b-4.

Chop or not chop... ???

I'm sure you'll know. The few ambers were indeed interesting as I would have thought you would see them after most trichomes have become cloudy. I'd almost call yours mostly clear still but I know that full on cloudiness (or ambers) can happen while the grower is asleep or something.

They do look sticky

Staying busy here I see. And working with that macro I see... My camera just wanted new batteries, damn it... JK kind of. So I guess she's here for abit longer.

You know alot of the equatorial sativas are really resistant to fungi like PM and rott. Sounds good your going to see her go the extra time. If she's still going why not. I've fed up more than once taking shit too early.. You really can't use a time frame to harvest, everyones different. Same plant from same mothers don't all finish the same time. Or you can just take some of the top and start her replacement?

Looking fine over here... Cool.... Keepem Green

Thanks everyone for input on trichomes.... yeah my quandary for sure. I chopped DT #2 and she's dried and in curing cans... final dry wt 200 gm. Not too shabby. That's my 2nd best indoor dry wt. Some very very dense top colas

DT #1 & #3 are a good bit larger.... I'd say DT #1 is 40% larger and DT #3 is about 20% larger.

Yeah these sativas are hard to call on when to chop.... these are running VERY similar to my first ever indoor grow, which looked a lot like these plants and were as large or larger. I just don''t like waiting 90-100 days to chop. I'm not totally convinced but I bet they could run 5 months and just keep packing on the buddage. These plants are doing just that... there's layers of older trichomes deeper in the buds that are amber and cloudy and the outer layers are all clear.

I guess that accounts for the magnetic high (lots of clear trics) ... prolly best for daytime meds for sure. I'm on a learning curve with this. Not a huge fan of clear trichomes. The effect is pretty intense with no tolerance build up much at all.

On the lens thing... nah was just using a cheapo digital microscope... I can get that close with my camera but its a lot more work. I was taking a "fine" quality pic and then just magnifying it, which works but I have to put the camera on a tripod if I wanna get good enough pics that are clear at magnification levels. meh...

That's actually a good way to see how well I do at holding the camera still... I'm not calm enough to do that free hand. It's like target shooting a rifle, need to hold breath & shoot between heart beats.

I need to harvest these last 2 beasts, I have a new COB lamp to install and several Chem-D VEG plants stinking up my house, I don't have a scrubber where I'm VEGging the next round and those Chems get stinky at certain times of the day.

OK speaking of new COBs here's my new lamp from Timber Grow Lights.. A BIG shout out to Dan from Timber, he's extremely knowledgeable about COBs and how to get the most out of them growing our favorite flowers. This one is custom built unit based on Timber's Redwood VS 4'x4':

It's a 6 COB array set on a 42 x 24 frame

Specs are:

4 COBs on each corner 3000K @ 100w per cob Vero29 Gen 7

2 COBs in the center on each rail @ 1750K 100w per cob Vero29 Gen 7

Power supply are:

2 - HLG-320H-C1400B Meanwell drivers dimmable from 10-100% - max output rated @ 320.6w

I did the math to build one myself... just the parts without the frame and hardware including wiring came to over $950 not counting any shipping of the parts. Then my time ... it was less expensive by a good margin to purchase already assembled from Timber. All I had to do was open the box!! FTW.

Those angled heat sinks are pricey.... but they are the best @ 25% more heat dissipation than straight pin version @ 3X the price tag.

Here's a pic of the new lamp:

Nice light, i looked at Timber and liked what saw. .

For LED ... his gear turned up my yields and again, for the price for me to build my own DIY, his prices are still lower.

Sure I could build one for less coin but not this quality. Those heat sinks are $90 a pop.. They use the best parts, no short cuts.

Timber FTW - I highly recommend.

Reason I started going with the LED COB tech was heat. These lamps get hot when its real hot out... kinda how LEDs work. With those heat sinks and a fan, my room temps only go a few degrees higher than ambient. That was NOT the case with HID or the early versions of LED.

DT #3 in the back there.. DT #4 green one in front... she's already at the lights today. I'll post anther pic side by side of this one tomorrow. So pretty much in a few days she grew 12" AND she's setting flowers at the same time.

DSC_003391.JPG

I have some exciting new seedlings... growing out some Dolato... 2 of the 3 so far have variegated leaves, 1 of them is only at her 2nd node and showing half yellow and half green leaves, the other one has that swirling to her first node leaves...

I'm excited!

But... having bad luck sprouting other seeds. ... let down. Glad I have clones!!

I officially fell off the seed purchase wagon .... again.

Actually saw a pic of the "livers" in the Eye Candy thread... sold; fell off the wagon, must have livers.

just sum'tin about livers that gets me fired up... I love liverwurst.. yum a dum dum...

My latest purchases are:

Autos from Mephisto:

illuminauto #27 -Livers 'n' Cheese - 10 pack
illuminauto #29 - Blue Toof - 10 pack
illuminauto #25 - Sour Orange Livers - 10 pack
Sour Stomper - 3 pack
Freebees .... forget name but sooo good sounding they are in water & tap root! haaahaha

And... if that wasn't enough:

REGs from...

IHG - BUFFALATO (10F) with 2 freebees Dolato fems
SnowHigh - Purple Pantera (10R)
SnowHigh - Purple Monkey Balls (10R) - already sprouted ... not going well. Probable operator error!
Snowhigh - Heart of Darkness (10R)

Of course I'm sprouting all the freebees first... :lot-o-toke:

^^^ that is why there's a seed purchase wagon, just sayin.

Hey Bob, don't wanna hi-Jack your thread, just wanted to touch on COBs a little bit.

I know not everyone has huge money to invest into their indoor gardens..... We have a sponsor here who I don't think gets enough recognition for their products(SunPlus), and for the price I personally think they're a fantastic product
420-magazine-mobile1314402506.jpg

This is their P6 which I purchased from them for $500(T5 fluorescents not included), it's 6 CREE CXA2530 COBs along with 96 LEDs, the 6 COBs draw 300w from the wall and the 96 LEDs draw 320w
They have 3 different sizes and also have a panel that uses the CREE CXB3070 COBs

For the price, or for those who don't have $1k+ to invest into lighting systems I just don't know that this can be beat, think it's a phenomenal product for the price .

From what I see many wait way too long on their sativas losing that sativa "essence". Anytime after at least 50-50 can be prime. Waiting for amber just wrecks it.

Great looking light....watts? umol? coverage in flower? Has that nasty look of a kick ass light.

Cool batch of new seeds. Know what you mean....can only stay away for awhile or until the next must have shows up. Take my money.

:passitleft: :Namaste:

Where do you buy your Snow High Seeds at Bob?

A few places:

Annunaki genetics - small Oregon seed collective - they feature some REAL good stuff. Not all the main stream gear but what they have... man I'd buy it all if I had the space to grow. Best prices here.

SHN - seeds here now - recently restocked a few strains so Snow is still at it!

Firestax has em but I've given up on purchasing overseas anymore... got CC burned (not from Stax) 1x that was enough.

Nug Porn: The terp smell is strong with this one. Lemon peel with white gas overtones.

DT #3 dried and frosted - feel free to comment on trim job.
I have nothing to compare to, very little talent and a lot to learn. suggestions welcomed and appreciated:smokin:!

There's a lot of hair in there....hahaha
This strain is always a shit ton of pistols. Goldie-red whites.

DSC_0009_3_1.JPG

Should have put something in the pic for reference on size - these are 6" and fatter than ... nothin... told my wife and she laughed.... Waiting for calipers - J/K. These are nice nugs there are many this shape and size. I just reached in the can a grabbed a few for the pics.

Great looking buds bob....has the exotic look of fine sativas. Like all the whiter stigmas....haha you know how to harvest sativas.

Think you mean Oregon Elite Seeds for the Snowhigh? Firestax has Firestax US too. Like those guys a lot but still having bank & cc hassles. Glad they're even still around. Some good growers on that forum.

Love it but so much dank smells like gasoline nowadays. Expect it from the OG's & cookies but now sativas too? Lol. If we got that in the earlier days we have thought it was Paraquat or something else Nixon would throw on us. :Namaste:

Gassy flavours are on the rise... they're even in my jars

dam bb those r some tastey nugs u got there great job. hey i had a quick question 4 ya with one of my pineapple skunk clones i added some em-1 awhile back but after i did i think it went bad and well i only tried it with my one plant and now she is really yellowing on me ive been able to kinda keep it in check with a tea ive been using from buildasoil there craft blend that has like everything in it lol but yea she is still yellowing on me and with how big she is i dnt really wana toss her if i can avoid it but yea u got any info that could help me boost her back to life alil i was thinkn on maybe using some of that craft blend as a top dressing altho idk if that would really do much since im already using it in tha tea form so would that be like over kill to also add some as a top dress?? anyway here she is any help would greatly be appreciated thanx brotha

Thanks for the reps there Blaze... I use the craft blend from BAS. Here's how I use it.

At up-pot from VEG pots to final flower pot, I scoop out 1/2 the soil from the finished flower pot. Then I add in about a cup of that craft blend with a cup of my found EWC (worm castings) mix it up a little in the pot then sprinkle mycos on top of that then put my VEG plant on top of all that.

There's lots of extra space around the sides of the new VEG plant so I sprinkle about another 1/2 cup of the Craft Blend mixed with some soil I have in a container... pat it down water in FTW! into flower she goes. Doesn't even skip a beat.

Now the EM-1 - I use that... I also drink the human version!! Hard to do too much.... I also water that in and sometimes I even foiler on with my IPM.

You plant looks like some sort of lock out... or nutrient deficiency. Doubt its a deficiency since I know whats in your soil. Actually, and its hard to tell without a soil test, but that looks a lot like too much Mg. Dolomite lime is usually the culprit.. and it shows its ugly head after a few runs with the same soil. All the Ca gets used up and you get left with too much Mg and it can be toxic in the wrong ratio to Ca.

OK science done... just water her. Do that flush thing everyone is crazy about. Let some water run out the btm and discard the run off (in your compost pile please). Not a shit ton of water just enough to get some run off...

Next watering - wait like 2 days. Meanwhile make a Kelp meal and EWC tea.

1 cup EWC to 1/2 cup Kelp Meal in 3 gal water ... aerate overnight.
To water in:
Dilute 1:3 tea to water. So for a gallon total of water and tea - add in 1 quart tea and 3 quarts water.

What you are looking at is why I gave up on dolo lime in containers... not saying you have it in your mix but that's what my plants looked like when there was either too much Mg and/or not enough Ca. Ca:Mg ratio off...

You can't just add in Ca.. not in a container. Doing that throws the plant off and it will take a few weeks for her to get back on her feets.

Trust me there will be enough Ca in the Castings and Kelp Meal to bring her back. It's going to likely be a bit of work to get her to the finish line. After she's done, put that soil in your garden outdoors and mix some new.

You can top dress that mix from BAS... its more slow release I'd save it and do the EWC/Kelp tea and get that big girl to the chop block!

You won't be able to over do the EWC/Kelp tea with that 1:3 ratio.. so you can water in every other watering if you need to. Be mindful of mites, they love plants that are suffering a little.

There will be enough Ca in the tea to bring her back on line.

Usually yellow leaves, I don't get concerned. When I start to see leaf necrosis - yellow wilting with brown spots, that's an issue. Actually looks a lot like over watering but its real hard to do with a plant that big. Usually its under watering but we don't see this response to under-watering.

Get your fans running after that "flush" deal. Helps dry out the soil by using the plant to transpire the moisture in the pot and the wind will tamp down those f-ing mites.
