Dam bb that dt looks delicious i hope my black domina turns out nice like that but yea man ur garden is lookn great as always knocking it out the parkThat....^^^ ain't worth it...
Chop down a big canna tree and hold it up like the fresh kill that it is....
We can get grass fed Filet Mignon for $6/lb here.... I have to cut it down but hey... dog happy me happy.
I was researching The Devils Tit.... since it really does look like a Sativa. Conrad made me do some thinking. I found a bunch of info on the Durban strains and other Africa Sativas... they look a lot like the DT Iv'e been growing. So I picked a Durban leaner from the first round I ran. It looks almost exactly like some of the old Durban and other African sativas that Sam the Skunkman was running back in the day.
I thought I posted an update but....?? Ah well.
Here's some trichome shots from the other day:
This a from a branch that was bent so I decided to do some test buddage and take some close up pics.
In this pic I'm looking at the waxy leaf and signs of PM/mold.... looks good.... we can see the 2 types of trichomes there pretty clearly with no sign of PM. Which is kind of amazing given the weather conditions.... last 10 days its been in the 80% RH at night and the rains are here. We have the AC on even tho its in the low 60s high 50s F outside.
Anyone still growing outdoors here, just got their crop toasted, high 50s 100% humidity and driving rains.... just like the PacNW. Its gonna take a week for anything to dry out. Outdoor gardens are done ..... was 85F yesterday.
A look at the trichomes here... perfect shape and a lot of clear and some cloudy
Closer view .... cloudy and a few with some color.
Perfect mushroom shaped trichomes.... yummy
Now bud pics from the other day...
DT #1 close up side bud, getting a little color and some fade..
DT #1 - she's in training.... bulking up the buds pretty much. Almost done!
DT #2 - top down look at some side nugs. She's going to be the first on the chopping block. She's already dropped all of her early large fan leaves and pistols are turning color...
DT #1 again
DT #2 - going yellow and a little red - side buds... reason for all the rope - trying to keep the top colas out away from the lights so they don't get burned. To tall to get main cola pics. Nice curly tips here... that's genetics.
DT #1 small side bud ... easy one to take a pics of
DT #2 - one of the shorter top colas up into the lights ...
DT #3 side buddage... showing some color
DT #3 again
DT #3 - from last week, trying out the flash to highlight flowers!
All the DTs are looking good Bo. Was wandering around in the front yard this morning. It seems the earth worms came out to poop. This is what earth worm castings look like here. Just little piles but it wouldn't take too long to gather a half a gallon or so.
Here's a little info bomb on HorseTail Fern and what it brings to the table:
Horsetail Fern "Equisetum hyemale"
Horsetail Ferns contains Silica at 60,000 - 97,000 ppm
Here's a few other benefits from this plant material:
Silicic Acid - 80,000 ppm (rooting agent)
Phosphorus - 14,762 ppm
Calcium - 24,000
Magnesium - 4,730 PPM
NOTE: ratio of Calcium:Magnesium (a little higher than 5:1)
The biggest benefit = Carbohydrates - 737,000 ppm
Ever since I've been incorporating Horsetail Fern tea into my soil regime and IPM routine... NO PM/Mold and plants even clones of the same plants are much larger and yields have gone up since my plans are larger. Also pests and incidence of infestations of mites has gone down quite a bit as well. Still get mites from time to time but they never really get a very good grip and are mainly isolated to a few branches, then I wipe them out with Spinosad and neem.
Silica from Horsetail Ferns and Pro-Tekt are taken up by the plant and the plant actually builds a layer of Si in the plants protective layer (cuticle) that is the waxy layer on the leafs epidermis (skin).
Quoted from a study on the effects of Silicon and plants:
Link:
Probing the mechanisms of silicon-mediated pathogen resistance
"the enhanced resistance is associated with the higher deposit of silicon in leaf so as to form physical barrier to impede pathogen penetration and the activation of host defense response.
Since Si was found to control plant disease, physical barrier was traditionally used to explain its role in enhancing pathogen resistance. Si can accumulate and deposit beneath the cuticle to form a cuticle-Si double layer and thereby interfere with pathogen's penetration through mechanical barrier."
And there's more .... in that article linked above.
Where do you generally get your horsetail ferns bob??
Looks like you're dialing in that new camera....gorgeous "fall" pics, beautiful colors & buds. Look potent as hell.
Bob, what strain is DT? I know you stated somewhere, who knows how many pages back, but I gave up looking. Anyone else besides Bob know what strain DT is, please feel free to share!! Thanks.
