Hi MJ - I've been a lurker over on your journal too... love what you can do with AUTOs, completely amazing. I can't get anywhere near what you do with them. You have mad growing skills so having you stop by here makes my day! Thanks for stopping by.. feel free to join in and tell me I'm full of it or correct me ..
Peat moss is a very very cool thing. We have a cottage and that stuff is alive and sometimes its anaerobic and sits of the btm of the lake until the sun gets warm and stays out long enough for the micro-organisms to start giving off gasses that eventually cause the peat bog to float to the surface of the lake. It will cycle like that for many many many years. I've seen the same peat bog sink and float for 45 years that I've seen them do it. Other peat bogs have been floating for those 45 years and likely A LOT longer. They support a ton of aquatic and wildlife and also of course plant life! Consistently the best place to catch Large mouth bass is around the edges of the peat bogs.
We are getting ready to head up north to Canada and we will be kayaking around some peat bogs (fishing around them as well). I'll take pics... oh and eventually those bogs decay of turn into oil that we use for gasoline and such. Over in England and Scotland WAY back in the day they used peat bogs, dried them and humans used them for fuel... I think they still do in the Scotch Whiskey bizz... Pretty amazing stuff really.
I'm full of useless information... hahaha
A little update here:
Cutting WAY back for the month of August. I decided to run the plants that like the hot and high RH. Devils Tit.
I've got several clones of different ages going. 3 I just put into flower. They grow amazingly fast.
The 3 I just put into FLOWER are 5 week old clones from the tall pheno from the spring run. I decided to leave the lone tall girl go another month. I harvested the last run of them @ 50 days. She's prolly 40-45 days in flower now but going to let her run for another 4 weeks and see what happens. She's a little floppy but too early to harvest so letting her go. Nothing else to do really, she's not ready.
Snow High's Devils Tit - Durban Poison x Acapulco Gold x C99
So yeah this plant has it all really if anyone likes a Sativa dom med. She's takes some getting used to tho. But for growing in the heat and humidity - she rocks. I guess those Acapulco Gold traits are strong with this one but the short branchyness of the C99 is shinning as well. I think the Durban part is where the strength of meds comes from.
Definitely not for the casual toker. My first time I tried it, I had a bit of anxiety but know the feeling so laughed it off... brushed off and... switch to something different! hahahaha
Devils Tit - 40ish days in flower.. It's gold it's OK, she's been like that for 30 days or so, and all her sisters will do the same.
Side buddage with the curly ends... all the plants did this .. I still think it's light burn but its not.
Up close - onf of the 5 main colas. No training here other than down low to spread things out a little.
Back up shot of the Devils side of the room:
A little experiment that I'm not sure where I'm going with.
Barney's Farm - LSD: Skunk #1 X Mazar
She's got some nice buds but this is a short plant. She's about 45 days in flower. Going to let her go to 75+ and see if we cant get some more frost.
LSD
What else?? Was going to chop yet another Chemdawg... went into the flower room to chop this one and she's got spider mites. Fuck me... So IPM all around had to do this one too and now going to harvest tomorrow and bud wash. Ah well caught it early and they were only on 1 or 2 branches, looked thru microscope... man I hate those bastards. The whole room gets sprayed up down and again a few more times. Inevitable... I took a few fans out of the flower room last week. Probably enough for them to catch hold again. They HATE wind.
Chemdawg from seed.. this one nothing special but she's got a little sweet smell on top of the gas. One of my other Chem-D's had that and the bag appeal was a nice touch.. the ladies like that sweet gassy smell for some reason. I much prefer the "gassy grass" myself.
That's about it for a few weeks while we head on up to Cottage 420 in Canada eh.. lets go fishin.
I'll be here but posting from the Dock and will do a write up on Peat Moss with pics of real thing!
