Cottage 420's Organic Perpetual Indoor Garden

Yeah buddy! What brand of Mycos are you using? Just wondering on the last grow, are you more impressed with Kimbo or B-DOG? So many strains so little time. Damn you seed banks lol! Thanks for the positive vibes brother!

Mycos I've been using Great White .... the last run which just ended I used VAM from Bioag... I had the Great White around so I've been using it up. I think the Bioag VAM works better but no evidence to prove it just big-ass healthy plants.

Kimbo or the B-dog... that's a hard one. They both are killer buds. I had less issue but took longer to finish with the Kimbo Kush and it's my current go to ... taste is soooo smooth and the Blackberry Kush is shining thru on 3 of the 4 plants. I haven't tried the orange pheno yet tho.

The B-dog a few of the plants were mostly foxtailed but the growing conditions during the summer time were less than optimal. With temps 95-105F a lot of the time with high RH (70-80% RH ouch) - I'm talking Botrytis humid and I did get a bit of that probably what caused the fox tailing. Last summer I lost a few plants, this summer a few top colas.. so all in all I'm STOKED with the AP system. I had one cola that was like 10" long and a big fatty trimmed.... looked sooo beautiful. Had to dump it. It hurt but not too long! Puff puff .. all good.

I wasn't home so there was nothing I could do about the RH. That's the only "sorta" catch with the AP system. The RH is a little bit higher than hand watering say 10-20% higher RH. That's usually really really good but this summer it was HOT AND HUMID. I wasn't home to turn on the AC. Had to throw a few main colas in the compost bin. Still averaged 3.5 zips per plant dry wt. indoors, that's PERFECT and with LED lighting.

I trimmed another Kimbo today and got 4 zips dry and I would say ready to vape dry but needs to sit a bit or stoned to bee-jeebers I get. All good the bag appeal on the blackberry leaning Kimbo is a 10+ all the buds are bluish silver shiny with lots of frost, smooth taste even green(ish), and tastes like grapes and berries.

The B-dog tho is ready now it's been in the jars for a month. That's a plus right there - fast finish same dry weight but 60-65 day to finish, I could have chopped them sooner but I wasn't home! Taste and smell on them is sorta close to the Kimbo.. berry flavors and smell, GREAT bag appeal as well. One of the plants is a real keeper - everything is a 10 of 10 (no fox tails). Generally the B-dog was MUCH harder to trim.. so that was a chore..

The one plant no fox tails B-dog kicks Kimbo Kush, but the next best 4 plants are the Kimbo Kush.. and I'm being picky here they all are top shelf. The Kimbo has a Sativa start with a jaw grab & bouts of laughing ... followed by a hard budy buzz.. then mellows out down to some amount of munchie-ness (not excessive like some Sativa dom plants are).

Next round.. I've got several Chemdawg clones going. Some more HSO gear ... I'll have a rundown after we get past the seedling stage but its looking good so far.

I've got a gaggle of the Al Capone going which is a WIFI with a lot of Chemdawg and relatives mixed in. We should be right at home with that, right?

Al Capone - ( El Diablo x White Fire OG (WiFi OG) ) x Wonkstar

Ready - set - grow :passitleft:

Ok so the summer run is all in jars some ready some not quite ready. All in all we've had a great run even tho it was mainly all automated this round. Had a small outbreak of spider mites and luckily I was on it and got it irradiated pronto. Other than Mites and super high temps (cause of the mites) and RH I am very happy with the results.

So moving on....

Next round in flower ... I've got some clones going while my seedlings get going and veg some more.

In the Flower room we have some Chemdawg the Mother (and many clones from her coming up next) and another Chemdawg clone, with some Black Dog clones mixed in.. I don't have a full flower room yet so now all the plants are different ages (for now).

It's actually easier for me to trim them when they don't all finish at the same time. We will be ramping up here in a few more weeks as the girls in VEG get some legs ..

We have more going but these are the Chemdawg clones from the purple pheno from the spring run.

2016_10_18_pics_062.JPG

Clones - We have a few more.. will take more clones from the best of this lot

2016_10_18_pics_063.JPG

Here's the mother of the clones above.. had to throw her into flower..she's at 27 days here and getting frosty and putting on some color. We are in the middle of a heat wave... crazy high 80s F for 3 days ... no cool nights.
Saturday high will be in the 40s so that's about to change as is the color of these fine young ladies.

Mini update here.. lots of little girls going. I took a summer break and now it's starting to show.

Our flower room is NOT full. I'm a little miffed about it but I'm on a mission to change that ASAP.

I've cloned a bunch of the Chemdawg that was sooo awesome from the spring run... sometimes clones take a bit to get going unlike seedlings. The clones catch up and make for lost time tho. So some pics here of the seedlings alongside the Chemdawg clones and a Chemdawg mother.

I have 2 Chemdawg clones in flower right now alongside a few others .... I forgot to label clones from the summer run so either Black Dawg or Kimbo Kush. BTW the Kimbo turned out to be really really strong .. after more cure even stronger. It tastes soooo good I haven't even tried the Black Dog after cure..

I will change that tonight and report back. :Namaste:

Here's a close up of the Chemdawg mother in flower @~36 days in flower. Instead of purple she's orange today... took pics yesterday. changed overnight after the IPM with kelp tea.

Next round getting going ... some more Chemdawg Clones on the shelf, Al Capone (El Diablo x Wifi x Wonkstar), a gaggle of Purple Kush autos, and another Chemdawg from seed and 2 Chemdawg autos (the taller girls on the floor there)...

All the auto flowers will stay put in the VEG room. I'll likely add a few more seedlings .. thinking about more Kimbo Kush.. its turning into my favorite after dinner meds.

This one is for the Doc... he's a Wifi aficionado... I hope this measures up. :Namaste:
Wishing you and pops healthy vibes brother.

So super jealous of that Chemdawg........:yummy:

the gaggle getting going will keep you busy before you know it, sweet!

I have run south for a week or two. Not just fleeing the drop in temperature but got work for my family.
So, I have my blu.mat on auto water duty.
Nothing like the auto pot, someday I hope.

ThAnks for the update!

ThAnks for the update!

The Blumats worked for me for a few years for summer vacations. I just needed a bigger reservoir so I could stay away longer! Thats really how I got going with the AP system. Now I use it all the time. It really reduces the time I spend watering down to almost nada.

I of course hand water the VEG plants but they aren't nearly as thirsty as the ladies are. The ladies drink up 60 gallons in about 3 weeks time.... that's a lots of buckets of water.

The AP system isn't a lot different than the Bluemat deal really. Same principal, different execution. The AP system I have uses a much larger diameter water feed tube from the RES, then into same size tubing as bluemats but only about 6-10" of the small tubing. I only need to put the reservoir 6" or so above floor level. That's the difference. Before I had the Bluemat RES much closer and taking up prime real estate near lighting... now my RES is 6' or more away from lighting and is HUGE.

Key point! Res location is so important. I try to start from the res location and make it work for me.

60 gallons of water is about 500 pounds, holySmokie! :yikes:

Hauling it around will keep you young. :laughtwo:

I haven't been here in a few BB. Such a colorful garden. I just realized that it was following you that started me on my own search for more colorful strains. Lol! The influence you have BB. :hugs:

I have a quandary that I should have considered, since I've been up against this before. I'm running a few clones in small pots of LOS. They're all less than a gallon. What I'm wondering is what you might suggest as a schedule for aggressively amending the soil to make up for the drastic limitation of root space? I have a number of amendments to draw from and can get what I lack within the next couple weeks. I'm thinking I should be adding something to these little pots almost daily, once they start drying out faster.

These first two have already been hit with the tea you recommended the other day. Actually, all the LOS clones got some of that tea.

I'm not certain this can be done with LOS in pots this small. I may need to transplant them into kit soil and use Doc's methods. As I recall I never got what I wanted out of the small pots in LOS last time.

Any advice will be appreciated. I figure if anyone knows how to make it work it'd be you. :battingeyelashes:

Hey there SS sorry for the late reply ... got hit with the flu... funny went the the drug store... (isn't that a funny name) to get some stuff and came home with the flu.. well not right away but the next day... I never get sick either specially flu or colds. This one got me and its hanging around, I start to feel ok then bam fever.. anyways getting back on track SLOWLY.

Your first plant there looks over watered... the rest probably could use a bigger pot. I'm right here with you, same thing. I've got a gaggle of girls in VEG and 3 of those clones that are photo period went into flower. They are in small VEG containers... look healthy but not big enough for flowering, yet here I am. Small containers and roots getting root bound cause all sorts of weird stuff.

I'd just up pot those plants that are yellowing. You will be able to tell if that one that looks over watered is soggy ... new pot with fresh soil should tco that. Do the EWC/Kelp meal tea again ... add in some malted barley if you have it.

I have a specific top dress I've been using but not totally convinced it even helps tbh. I've been using it with high hopes but not convinced yet. I'm thinking the top dress needs a while to actually kick in... I'm thinking better off growing a crap ton of microbes in a tea and let them feast on the soil to get the top dress to work.

Gonna be hard to grow flowers in small containers in LOS .. I'm in 7gal big pots if I go bigger the plants outgrow my head room so for me 7gal is perfect.. low maintenance. All I do now is IPM. I use the AutoPot system for watering so now super lazy daze! My grow is on 3rd floor, it's easier to hoist a hose up to the window fill reservoir ... problem solved.

My only issue is I need to swap out soil more often. The microbes and plants are using the soil nutrients up more efficiently. Shows in yields, which I'm happy with. So instead of schlepping water buckets every day, I mix soil 3x a YEAR! Soil mixing is more fun than watering! Eh? That is the true art with the indoor container gardening IMHO - soil mixing and of course the microbes. FTW :high-five:

Its almost that time of year to go into the woods and get some worm castings. Keeps the microbe population diverse and the plants happy.

SS I think up potting will fix your issue... anytime I see yellowing with necrosis = over watering. I'm not sure how you are watering these days but I know you were doing the btm up thing .. that's what I'm doing now with the AP system. Plants take what they need. Any issues I've had with LOS soil were my self induced issues and 90% was over watering. Too much at the wrong time and no way for me to know when that is.

Here's some pics of my current flowering room... last round was killing it and I wasn't even here to see it. This round ... meh... but I have some goodies in VEG right now!! Yeah buddy.

Oh hey ... I trained my first plant this round... I'll get pics up next time... like full on LST tie her down let her beg for more training. Next to the same clone no training. lets see whats what. I have more... come back soon.

Chemdawg.. purps clone.. she went to orange this time ???

Thank you BB. Sorry to hear you're sick. The flu bites! :hugs::hugs::hugs: The wife managed to miss it? :battingeyelashes:

I understand what you're saying about the pot size. I'm limited in space, so I was trying to keep the root space as small as possible, so I guess what I need to do next is to see how much I can give them. I'll dig through the pots and see what's available.

Reading your post I'm of a mind to work up a schedule for regular teas and stick with it. I'll research the timelines and see where I need to make the necessary additions. I seem to recall I have bookmarked a link to the Unconventional Farmer with a list of teas by week. Hmmmm.... I got that from 36Gr0w. I'll dig that up too. That may be my ticket to success. It wouldn't hurt to get some lactobacillus serum going too. I can start that right now.

I'd forgotten about the castings BB. Thanks for the reminder.

Let me buckle down and act like I know what I'm doing again. :laughtwo:

Hey there SS ... Flu finally b-gone... wife had a cold, I went to the drug store and came home with the flu... we both suffered thru it for at least 2 weeks.. nothing real serious, one of those .. I feel better, do some stuff .... feel sick again ... over and over ... it's finally outta here.
I never get sick .. I mean never... I can't remember the last time. Why I don't get flu shots..live and learn!

OK mini update.

I've finally got a full house in the flower room. Mostly clones of Chemdawg from spring run. I really really like those meds. It's got a nice mix of Sativa followed by a nice body buzz from the Indica side ... and good nights sleep. Smells like chemicals and tastes like berries. Mouth goes numb after 1st vape so after that .. just more numbing ... be good for a dentist visit! Starts out exciting laughter followed by a real nice body buzz. Ohhh la la... heaven... wake up next morning feeling a tad foggy, coffee and lets get to gardening.

Today we mixed up a shit ton of new soil. Coots mix - I did TWO raised beds 75" X 39" X 12" tall (outside) .. plus 30 gallons in a large tote for the ladies. For the outside raised beds we will plant a cover crop and let that go ... next EARLY spring will have the beds covered with something... going to practice growing outdoors.. not canna but annual veggies and see how this soil mix works outdoors. We have of course grown veggies outside... we are going to try raised beds covered and start late February (we are Zone 6) and see how that goes.

I'm thinking we could do some short autos under a canopy.. who'd think they are canna in March/April?

Anywho.. here's a few pix from the flower room:

This is the Chemdawg Mother we put into flower I was out of plants in VEG.. she was ready. First round she was purple this round is orange.. lighting change .. pretty sure causes this color.

Chemdawg - buds are smaller this round too... did no-till 2nd round. I'll be rotating pots next round.

Chemdawg starting to put on the frost.. we have perfect growing conditions. 60 - 80F and 45-65% RH

Chemdawg Mom.. closeup ... I think I'm going to puff some more of this tonight.

DSCN189415.JPG

Here's a clone of .... mystery ... I tried some training - this lady had a main cola and very tight spread. Tied the outer branches out away from the main stem to promote bushiness.. problem solved.

DSCN189613.JPG

Here she is top view.. nice wide spread, should get some nice buds from this one.

Another Chemdawg clone of the Mother.. its hard for me to tell which is which.. the stake there is the difference.

Flower Room pic - classic Sea of Green.. finally starting to get my shit together this round. I'm going with the old "leave them alone, they know what they are doing."

45 day buddage.. Looks good, smells great.. I'm finally starting to feel this round, the ladies stated off real slow.

DSCN190511.JPG

Now to something new for me. I've been "dabbing" into concentrates... dry sift hash is my choice. Made this today. This is tripple sifted @ 95micron steel screen, screened for a good 1/2 hour then into a piece of parchment paper awaiting wifey to do some ironing... didn't take long. About 15 minutes after I did this she had the iron out and was ironing some clothes. Parchment paper under some cotton cloth, ironed a few times flip and iron a few more times ... I'd have black hash if I did it a few more times.

20161111_164153.jpg

This is after ironing.. we can almost see the individual trichomes in this pic... getting darker.

20161111_185820.jpg

funky pic here .. it's not green, my cell phone pic changed the color ... its a dark tan/brown.

Keep'em Green and Purple and Orange ..

Hey BB14

Question for ya. I know you like Mandala. Have ya ever tried their Ganesh? or Mandala #1?
I am thinking of getting some genetic variety for future grows?
I know they are regs, so no problem there.
You got my interest in Mandala a way back and I feel like I might need to check them out. The genetic history they have is impressive, all most too good. Bwhaaaha.

So I am guessing anything from them is good, just wondering if you had and Idea what to expect from the shorter in height strains they have?

Just thinking about the future right now. . .

AnyWhos... The wifey got home from some vacation yesterday and tried my AutoCBG cross Ace OrientExpress. It has been in the jar about a week.
She says it is my best yet. Best taste and strength. She burnt a whole big fat J last night all to herself. She was stony-Bahgeebers, she likes to combust best. :ciao:

Beautiful plants & buds of my favorite strain BB....those are the HSO version, right? Haven't gotten around to theirs yet. Excellent gardening. :Namaste:

Thanks BL - Yes the HSO version of Chemdawg. I'm running some HSO Al Capone right now in veg and have a few males.

I'll be crossing the Al Capone male with the Chemdawg.. I've got a bunch of clones going in various stages of VEG and flower. All the Chemdawg clones came from a super great female from my spring run. She was BIG and bushy and purple.

The Al Capone has Chemdawg on both sides of the lineage so this should be a good cross... sorta back cross.. it will be my first attempt at making seeds!!

I've had very good result from HSO gear as well as Exotic Genetics... they are all regs.. I just picked the best at 60 days in VEG and flipped and took cuts ... toss the rest. So many plants to little space! Ah well...

Yes I have the seeds but I have not tried those 2 YET... I really like Mandala, they take their time and get develop genetics properly. You get whats on the label ... I really like that they select for hardiness, heat and mold resistance. They do genetics properly and organically as well that's how I got into their seed stock in the first place.

I'm getting ready to pop some more seeds... I've got room for 6 seedlings. Was thinking about trying the Mandala #1 - go for the THC content and see where it lands me! This year I've pretty much went down the Indica road a bit more... or hybrids with more Indica.

I prefer the uplifting and psychedelic side of the Sativa best for me. Keeps me more clear headed. I don't mind relaxing and mellowing out with these Indica hybrids but I like to get gassed up every once in a while and laugh like there's no tomorrow!

Glad your wife likes your CBG cross... I grew a handful of the CBG in the spring ... turned out GREAT. Nice colors too!

I am pretty sold. On the Mandala #1. Or . ....Ganesh
I grow for wife-y. She just likes to smoke no real thoughts about indica/sativa.
But I am the sober observer. And I do like to see her up and laughing and pleasant to be around.
But that only goes so far cause what she needs is anti anxiety and pain relief.

Good grief I hate to be the smoke police. But I got to sometimes.
I am so happy with her reaction to my cross genetics. I have a craptastic ton of seeds of that and a back cross with the Ace seeds male pollen.

So my thoughts are to have a change of pace genetic with mandala.

Thanks. Gonna look into it more.

Hey Bob you're using the Sohum soil? If you are how did you get their soil? Tried ordering through the website and it states delivery unavailable. Tried calling the number a few times, no one picks up, left a message. Finding this all a bit weird. Can you tell me how your experience went?

My wife is the non-compliancer in our household! She will "let" me make her a canna tea once in a while but thats it.. I took it too far for a casual med for her. Its fine, she's the one that got me into growing indoors. So as long as I'm somewhat responsible and doing what I love, it's all good.

She loves growing plants and can see I do as well and I'm constantly trying to take it to the next level .... I'm like that with pretty much everything I do. No sense doing something if you don't try your best. I'm always there and she knows she's going to get some kickback in her gardens outdoors. I help her and she helps me. Team effort. FTW :high-five:
